COLLABORATIVE AGENDA ITEM II.
DISCUSSION OF THE PINELLAS COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD’S ADOPTED FIVE–
YEAR FACILITIES WORK PROGRAM FOR FY 2014/15 - 2018/19
The Public Schools Interlocal Agreement between the Pinellas County School Board
and 13 local governments requires that the annual update of the School Board’s Five-
Year Facilities Work Program be shared with local governments for comment. The Work
Program outlines planned School Board projects for the next five years and identifies
proposed school facility changes such as new construction, remodeling, renovation,
closures, etc. Sharing this information facilitates coordination between local
governments and School District staff. The Tentative Work Program was distributed by
the School District to local governments on August 27, 2014.
The Work Program was adopted by the School Board at their September 9, 2014 Board
meeting and was included in the Capital Outlay Budget that was subsequently adopted
at that same Board meeting.
School District staff will provide the Collaborative with an overview of planned school
facility projects for the next five years.

UPDATE ON COLLOCATION AND SHARED USE OF FACILITIES
As outlined in the Public Schools Interlocal Agreement, opportunities for collocating and
sharing of facilities between the School District and local governments provides for a
more efficient and effective use of limited public resources. Opportunities for collocation
and shared use is considered on a case-by-case basis for libraries, parks and
recreational facilities, community centers, learning centers, performing arts centers,
healthcare and social services, and other uses as may be determined appropriate.
A School District staff member will provide an overview and status of how some public
school facilities are currently utilized through joint-use and shared-use agreements to
meet community needs.

TEN DAY COUNT 2014-15 (K-12)
William Lawrence, Director of Student Assignment for School District will discuss the
unofficial Ten Day Count (K-12) for Pinellas County Schools. The enrollment data
reflects the following compared to the prior school year count:
Ten Day K-12 enrollment exhibited an increase of 164 students from 2013-14.
This is the first year over year increase since 2003/04.
This year’s count was within 67 students of the projected enrollment.
The Ten Day count is used in part to determine adjustments to instructional
units.

COLLABORATIVE AGENDA ITEM V.
LOCAL GOVERNMENT COORDINATION ON PROPOSED RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENTS
At the last School Planning Workgroup meeting, held on July 9, 2014, staff from the
School District mentioned that due to the recent pick-up in the economy (from a
residential development standpoint), they are having a difficult time staying ahead of the
recent population increases in certain student assignment zones. They would like to be
better informed of local government proposed residential site plans/projects.
It was suggested that the best way to handle this is though a notification form that can
be easily emailed to the District informing them of the proposed residential project. This
form would apply only to residential projects greater than 25 net units. A form is
available for use on the Pinellas County Planning Department website under School
Planning (see link provided below).
Staff from the Pinellas County Planning Department will discuss the key items that the
notification form includes.
