Reflections from principal's Desk

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the
world.”

~Nelson Mandela

The unprecedented times which all of us were thrown into, I believe that we are
still winning because WE, at Shiva, modeled an honest intellectual approach.
During the transition in the past two years, broadly speaking, we kept our
students’ spirits high by not just enlightening them but also admiring their
sterling efforts. e-Shivanjali, Issue 4 is a continuation of the effort that gives
‘Shivians’ an online platform to shine. From Art to Science and Mathematics to
Sanskrit, the seeds of marvel and faith have been planted.

By not just sticking to book follow ups but also incorporating Creative
Education, we are striving to keep our live wires well grounded. In my opinion,
Education and Ethics need to walk hand-in-hand. Thus, we are passionate and
devoted to a cause. The cause is to create students who will thrive in society
based on the skills we teach them today. Sharing the opinion with my learned
team, I believe that we pick the momentum to create a mindset that motivates
us to tackle real life challenges. The goal is to build an army of self-sufficient
soldiers who do not stop until the mission is accomplished.

I am thankful for the coalition with our parents who always believe in us and
stand by us.

Dear Shivians!
Remember, what’s real in your mind, with consistency, can become real in your
life.

Children must be taught how to think and not what to think.

- Margaret Mead

Today we are living in a fast-paced world with limitless possibilities. This
effectuates the need to reflect on the system of education.

To me, education is about building characters, enriching minds and attaining
varied experiences that last a lifetime. Our School Vision and Mission motivates us
to go through a continuous process of reflection and hence we at Shiva Shiksha
Sadan work at implementing a well-balanced curriculum that ensures that our
students are happy to learn thus enabling them to work in rhythm and harmony
with nature, self and society.

We are constantly striving to make the best possible efforts to inculcate strong
values combined with academics and co-curricular activities among children;
converting every individual into a self-reliant and independent citizen.

I am grateful to our parents for their priceless support and co-operation.

I am confident that ‘Our Shivians’ will make themselves stronger day by day
adding on to the legacy of the school.
“Let your Light Shine”.

“Once I learn how to use isn't

that all the education I really need?”

Dear Readers

You may wonder to see an editorial starts with the jest! Now keep all kidding aside and
ponder upon that the education you get from all the advance and modern technical
resources suffice? What is Education?
Education facilitates learning, or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, morals,
beliefs, habits, and personal development.

The Glory of wisdom. Vidya Is the only Human being and is about to fulfill their desires. If
someone's fate does not go together, then, in that case, education is the superior support.
In the case of disconnection, love is love. If someone has wisdom, then he always gets
respect for you. The Glory of vidya progeny and the jewelry of gems are also there.
Therefore, We should gather and expend more than all the things and spend it because it
also increases by spending.
The book you are holding in your hands now is a treasure house of knowledge. This
magazine has a supply of all that has gone on in the school during the six months. You
will find the enthusiasm, creative brilliance and exhilaration of students and teachers who
made this issue vibrant.
As we propel to a hopeful future,
I pray that we will be able to uphold the Shivians' values and tradition.

Monday Blues

Maybe this day is not
One of your favourites, but
Never forget that every
Day you wake up to an
Amazing gift and it’s up to
You to make it count.
Ahhh……………It’s Monday again!!! ‘Monday Blues’ refers to the pessimistic emotions which we have on a Monday
morning when we realise that the weekend is over. Hey, readers! Just recall the recent Monday start. How was it?
Undoubtedly, it was the biggest day of the week and if not, you are a bookworm. Not only We, the children, but the
parents who come every Monday morning to wake us upto make us realise that weekend is over also feel Monday
blues. For the whole working week , we wait for the last two days and this means that Friday is the day on which the
work seems the most engrossing because we know that the next two days are hols. Our body becomes habitual to
ease up in these two days and the next day, we grudge to work. We miss slumbering, late night movies and no work.
“If you don't like what you do and are going through mundane motions Monday through Friday, of course Monday
hangs over your head all weekend like a wet blanket.” Sometimes people find it difficult to stay up all day on Monday
and drink coffee all day to stay up.”May their coffee be stronger and Monday shorter!” But if we look forward to it
then Monday can also be taken as an optimistic start. The fresh start to a new week. Monday also brings us good
vibes. It gives us the motivation to be magnificent sunflower.”Keep calm Monday vibes are here.” One must
concentrate more on work or on studies on Monday. We meet our friends after two long days, so we shall welcome
happiness happily. We can beat up Monday blues by staying motivated. One must get up early on Monday and
exercise well so that we stay zestful all week. Put yourself together and at the top of your every single day at the top
of your TO-DO-LIST. Keep your work a priority and the rest will fall into place. Mondays propel us towards success and
happiness. “Believe that you will be successful in all that you do this week… Have confidence and set your goals!.
YES…… You have got this!”
Happy Monday!

The Essence Of Life is Music

Music can heal wounds that medicine cannot touch.
Music is a form of a melody that soothes our body and helps us
to feel refreshed and relaxed. It helps us to get rid of anxiety and
stress in our everyday lives . Music is undoubtedly a great way of
healing pain . It makes us forget about unpleasant and
disturbing thoughts by taking us into the world of melody .
"Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind , flight to
the imagination and life to everything." Music can heal a person
emotionally and also mentally. Music serves as a form of
meditation to quieten the mind. Music cures emotional
disorders like anxiety, depression and lack of sleep called
insomnia . The power of music is inevitable . Music is Known for
being a universal language because it has no limits and
boundaries. It connects to people irrespective of any barriers of
language, religion or country. Music helps our brain function
quicker and helps us maintain our calm in our daily life
schedule. For a human, music is vital in different moments of life
. Music gives us the soul of our life and gives us immense peace
of mind. Music is highly effective and supportive to relieve the
pain of a person . Without music, life would be very dull, but
with music , you can enjoy your good times and deal with your
bad times.

Cultural Hegemony: The Trait of
ASuperpower

Just take a glance at your lifestyle. You’ll be astounded to notice that most of the living
practices in your life somewhere or the other either have an American or British
connection. We all read, write and learn in English. We all enjoy the sumptuous
Dominos’ pizzas and burgers. Every damn thing you see or experience around you is
culturally influenced and has something or the other to do with Americanism. This is
one of the traits of superpower nations around the globe. In the cold war era, USSR also
enjoyed a similar status amidst its communist kinship but after its dissolution, only the
United States fits in the definition of a , superpower be it with military might (the power
to project military prowess anywhere around the globe through their bases which are
above 500 in number from Pacific to Atlantic), economic strength (US has a whopping
economy of 21 trillion US Dollars in nominal terms) or cultural hegemony/potency.
Being a superpower, you can’t go and threaten a nation if it goes against you. Military
prowess should only be used against rebels or non-allies. You can’t go and invade an
ally if it doesn’t agree with you like the USA did with Syria and Afghanistan. This is
where cultural hegemony or ties come into play. People who share a similar culture of a
specific nation tend to develop a positive attitude towards that state. Almost all of
Europe and Canada have a positive attitude in their mind towards the US. In the similar
context, India too has its own sphere of cultural influence in Nepal, Bhutan, Japan,
ASEAN region and throughout Indo-Pacific due to Hinduism and Buddhism and we
already enjoy the status of being one of the oldest civilizations, if not the oldest. The
21stcentury has been said to be an Asian century where India and China would be
major players and bloc creators. Thus, most of the world would be Indianised (not
literally but culturally) after a few decades. So, let’s all pledge to play our role concisely
in making our Pyara Bharat a superpower. Whenever you browse social media and
connect with the people of other nations there or go abroad, keep in mind that you
represent India as a nation at that moment. Thus refrain from making any disgusting
comments. On that note, I would like to end this discussion. Thank you for giving your
time as a reader!

Life During Corona Pandemic "

'Life during Corona pandemic"

During lockdown in covid-19
So much was lost so much revived.

The whole world was affected
Ways of the people were tilted.

People learnt to bear the unbearable loss
Also shed tears to see life toss.

Maintained distance from our friends
stayed away from family and relatives.

In markets, there was no crowd
No life was seen in the playground.

All were locked up inside their room
Victims could not get a chance to lie in tomb.

The health of the people deteriorated
Doctors advised all to get isolated.

Whatever happened, teaching didn't stop
In the name of online class, children hop.

In every class,teachers gave advice
to wear mask and to sanitize.

Washing hands again and again was made must
To prevent Corona pandemic to bust.

Teachers promised not to let their students suffer
Learnt innovative ways to get their lessons delivered.

Using ingenious techniques, teachers brought a radical change in teaching
With personal touch, children found learning interesting.

Not only this, in schools,Hunger Relief Camps were run
Left to starve was none.

Thanks to Corona warriors who will make school reopen
and

To defeat the pandemic, now is the turn to take Corona vaccine in right
proportion.

A minuscule virus curbed the huge ego

and brought it down to nothingness.

"DISSOLVE YOUR EGO BEFORE IT DISSOLVES YOU"

There is no doubt about the fact that a bloated ego sustains for a very

short period of time. It's like any inflated balloon which can be burst

just by a small needle. Similar is the case with the egoistic attitude of

human beings. It's nothing more than self-destruction.
Our ego is inversely proportional to our knowledge; the lesser the ego

more the knowledge.
In my opinion, an egoistic man destroys everyone and everything but

he begins with himself. In the past two years, the Covid-19 virus has
further helped in proving the statement, "If this minuscule virus

could curb the huge egos and bring it down to nothingness ,then we
know how rootless it is to have ego."

All the nations which are superpowers, nevertheless, were impacted
by Corona and could not do anything about the destruction that it

caused.
Even many of the journalists succumbed to covid in India and

worldwide. The owner of Indigo Airlines, Ankur Bhatia, also Simran
succumbed to Covid-19. XA

Nature is like our mother. It is essential for us

because it provides all the basic needs of life.

Nature is also a great teacher. We can learn many

Blow your Mind

*Multiplying by 6 Aarjav Jain 5 E
If you multiply 6 by an even number, the answer will end with the
same digit. The number in the ten's place will be half of the number
in the one's place.
Example: 6 x 4 = 24.
*Same Three-Digit Number
1. Think of any three-digit number in which each of the digits is the

same. Examples include 333, 666, 777, and 999.
2. Add up the digits.
3. Divide the three-digit number by the answer in Step 2.

The answer is 37.
*Finger Multiplication Tables
A simple way to do the "9" multiplication table is to place both hands
in front of you with fingers and thumbs extended. To multiply 9 by a
number, fold down that number finger, counting from the left.
Examples: To multiply 9 by 5, fold down the fifth finger from the left.
Count fingers on either side of the "fold" to get the answer. In this
case, the answer is 45.
To multiply 9 times 6, fold down the sixth finger, giving an answer of
54.

The Mathematical Genius

Srinivasa Ramanujan, the mathematical genius, came to be recognized Yug 5 E
only posthumously for his incredible contribution to the world of
Mathematics. Leaving this world at the young age of 32, Srinivasa
Ramanujan (1887-1920) contributed a great deal to mathematics that
only a few could overtake in their lifetime.
Born in Erode (Tamil Nadu), Ramanujan demonstrated that he had an
exceptional intuitive grasp of mathematics at a very young age. He
began developing his theories in mathematics and published his first
paper in 1911. Infact, he was the second Indian to be included as a
Fellow of the Royal Society fellowship of the world’s most respected
and famous scientist in 1918.
The field of number theory in mathematics was enriched with his
intuitive research and his vast contribution. Every year, Srinivasa
Ramanujan’s birth anniversary on December 22 is commemorated as
National Mathematics Day.

Beauty of

Nature is the world around us. We all human beings depend on nature

for everything. Many people admire the beauty of nature and write

poems and novels on it because beauty of nature cannot be expressed in

a single word or saying. It provides all living organisms on earth a place

to live with the joy of natural resources. Despite the importance of

nature in human life, we are spoiling its balance only due to our

greediness. It gives us forests which are lungs of earth.

Our lives as human be started on this planet earth and since then we are

exhausting its resources. We distroyed beautiful forests, polluted water

bodies and air, consumed all the vast land for construction of buildings

and factories. At last, conservation of nature is another important issue,

therefore, everyone must do tree plantation, stop wasting water,

overuse of vehicles or many other measures to protect our mother earth

from spoilage.

WHY is UPUP

AND DOWN DOWN ?

Thanks gravity for every minute you’re not flung into space
by earth's rotation.

Gravity is a force of attraction created by every object in the universe . A
pebble generates its own gravitational field. Even you create this attractive
force( beyond just good looks, of course). Gravity is hard to notice on a small
scale but bigger the object ,the greater is the gravitation tug.The earth is very
large object ,composed of rocks and molten metals ,so its gravity makes
everything around it (including the air) “fall” towards the planet’s
center. That’s why down is down for people in both the Canada and Australia,
even though they’re standing on opposite sides of the planet. The Earth’s
gravitational field is strong enough to keep your feet on the ground despite
the planet’s spin and the gravitational tugs of the moon and he sun (which are
strong enough to pull the oceans and cause our tides).

Cotton For as long as 7,000 years, cotton has been grown, picked, woven, and

fashioned into materials as diverse as jeans, underwear, shirts, and even animal feed!
Almost 757.1 million liters (200 million gallons) of cottonseed oil are used in food products
such as margarine and salad dressing. Even products such as toothpaste, ice cream, and,

of course, the paper money used to buy them, contain by-products of the cotton seed. This

productivity comes with a price. Conventionally grown cotton uses a total of $2.6 billion
worth of hazardous pesticides, some of them are the most toxic in the market. These
include carbamate pesticides, as well as broad spectrum organophosphates, which were
originally developed as toxic nerve agents during World War 2 .

Banana There are over 500 varieties of banana today. This means that if you

ate a different kind of banana each day, you would take almost a year and a half to eat
every last one! In fact, about 99.5% of banana-eaters in the world are eating varieties of
banana that have been selected by farmers and haven’t changed in centuries. But wait:
not all bananas are edible! In any case, bananas are loved and eaten the world over. East
Africans, and Ugandans in particular, eat around 450 kg (992.1 lbs) per person per year. In
East Africa, the word for bananas is “matooke,” which also means “food.” Bananas may be
valuable, but there are many problems involved in their cultivation. For instance, almost all
cultivated bananas are seedless and sterile. This means that they can’t be grown from
seeds. Banana plants also take up to 18 months to fruit, which makes them even harder to
breed. If those problems aren’t big enough, consider the fact that bananas can get sick,
too. An illness of bananas called Black Sigatoka can cut a harvest by as much as 50%.
Farmers control the disease by spraying banana crops with fungicide up to 40 times in one
growing season.

Tomato First known as the tomatil, tomatoes were grown as wild, cherry-sized

berries in the South American Andes, before they were brought to Mexico, where they
were destined to grow into the large fruit we know today. Tomatil found its way to Europe
via the conquistadors, and into popular tomato legend. Tomatoes were thought to be
poisonous, but when the myth was dispelled, the fruit grew to be so popular, it was used in
everything from spaghetti sauces to juice. Today, more than 60 million tons of tomatoes
are produced annually, 16 million tons more than the second most popular fruit, the
banana. And, no matter what they tell you: tomatoes really ARE fruits, since they are an
edible part of the plant that contains the seeds

Wheat began as a coarse-grained variety called Einkorn, 10,000 years ago in

Turkey. After domestication by ancient man, wheat became so widespread, it was even
used as payment (in the form of bread) for pyramid builders in Egypt! More food is made
from wheat than any other grain crop now available. It is so abundant, indeed, that every
person in Bulgaria consumes about 600 lbs annually (compared with 190 lbs per person
annually in the U.S.). A bushel of wheat is made up of 1 million individual kernels, enough
to bake 73 one-pound loaves of white bread.

UNFOLDING THE LOGIC BEHIND
THE QWERTY KEYBOARD

The qwerty keyboard was invented in the
1870s by one of the creators of the original
typewriter, Christopher Latham Sholes.
This first typewriter was patented in 1868 and
it was designed with an alphabetical
arrangement of piano-like keys. In this
arrangement, commonly used letters were too
close to each other, making the keys jam
frequently. We all know that you couldn’t just
hit backspace if you made an error on a
typewriter. Therefore, the alphabets are now
in a seemingly random layout because Sholes
created the qwerty keyboard to purposely
spread out the commonly used alphabets so
that mechanical errors can be avoided.

A sudden and serious problem that occurs over a short or a long period
of time causing great and a very high damage to the human population
, economy and environmental losses are termed as natural disasters.
The natural disasters occur due to human efforts as well as by nature
also. Some natural disasters are - floods, earthquakes, tsunamis,
hurricanes, thunderstorms, cyclones, lightning, landslides and so on.
These natural disasters cause great damage to the economy, nature,
property and to human population also. So it is also necessary to know
the precautions as well as instructions that we should do while we face
the natural disasters. Many a time, a lot of people face death, only
because of these natural disasters. Due to these natural disasters,
people get scared and panic. But, Man has to learn that he cannot
control nature and his life should revolve around the conditions
present in the environment and not the other way around. However,
during disasters, rescue and relief operations such as evacuation,
construction of shelters and relief camps, supplying of water, food,
clothing and medical aids etc. should be done on an emergency basis.
Awareness about these natural disasters can help ourselves to keep
ouselves safe and protected.

Effects of Covid-19
on Environment

The global outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is affecting
every part of human lives, including the physical world. The measures
taken to control the spread of the virus has effected the environment. So
in order to explore the positive and negative environmental impacts of
the COVID-19 pandemic, we should review the present environmental
phenomenon. We can observe that, the pandemic situation significantly
improves air quality in different cities across the world, reduces harmful
gas emission, lessens water pollution and noise, which may assist with
the restoration of the ecological system. Water pollution has also
reduced during the lockdown period, which helped to reduce the
pollution load. For instance, the river Ganga and Yamuna have reached a
significant level of purity due to the absence of industrial pollution on the
days of lockdown in India.
In addition, there are also some negative consequences of COVID-19,
such as increase of medical waste, haphazard use and disposal of
disinfectants, mask, and gloves; and burden of untreated wastes
continuously endangering the environment. It is reported that, face mask
and other plastic based protective equipment are the potential source of
microplastic fibers in the environment. This waste may increase soil
pollution and can badly affect the fertility of land. It seems that,
economic activities are returning soon after the pandemic, and the
situation might change. Hence, we should ready and be prepared to face
possible long-term environmental changes. It is expected that the proper
implementation of the proposed plans may be helpful for the global
environmental safety. Then also the pandemic of Covid-19 will be
observed as boon to Environment.
