BACHELOR OF ARTS IN MALAY FOR INTERNATIONAL COMMUNICATION (HONS.)
programme concentrates on the development of language and communication skills and is
designed to produce graduates who have a high degree of communicative competence
in Malay and cross-cultural awareness for global communication.
With the various exposure to both linguistic and international communication
disciplines, this course also aims to broaden students’ international experience
through student exchange programmes and various cross-cultural activities.
The pool of local and international lecturers opens the possibility for a more
interactive approach and increased internationalization for students.

OBJECTIVES OF PROGRAMME

The objective of this programme is to produce
ethical professionals who can communicate e ec-
tively and work collaboratively in various professional
settings.

The specific objectives of the programme
are to produce graduates who can:

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR

The academic requirements for admission into BA The general academic requirements for admission into
MLCOM programme of IIUM are as follows: undergraduate degree programmes of IIUM are:

1 A Pass at the SPM level or equivalent with at 1 At least three (3) principal passes (minimum grade D) in

least: the General Certi icate of Education ‘Advanced Level’
(GCE) ‘A’ Level Examination (UK Educational System)
“C” grade in Bahasa Melayu / Bahasa Malaysia obtained in one sitting; OR

“C” grade in English Language 2 Any other quali ications that are recognized by the

“C” grade in Mathematics Senate of the University as equivalent to the above

“C” grade in “Pendidikan Islam” / “Tasawwur LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
Islam” / ”Pendidikan Al-Qur’an & As-Sunnah” /
”Pendidikan Syariah Islamiah” The candidate must present the score as required in TOEFL
or IELTS as stated below:
“C” grade in Sejarah
“C” grade in any three (3) other subjects

AND MINIMUM TOEFL Paper Based: 513
SCORE (ACADEMIC) Computer Based: 183
2 A Diploma or any other Equivalent Quali ication Internet Based: 65
with a CGPA of 3.00 recognized by the MINIMUM IELTS
(ACADEMIC) 5.5 Overall Minimum Band
Government of Malaysia and approved by the 5.0 (WRLS)

Senate of the University. MINIMUM EPT 5.5 Overall Minimum
SCORE Band 5.0 (WRLS)
OR

A Pass with a CGPA of 3.00 or above in STPM

At least “B” grade (NGMP 3.00) in Bahasa MINIMUM APT Band 2
Melayu / Bahasa Malaysia in STPM SCORE

OR Alternatively, you may sit for the IIUM-administered
A Pass at the STAM examination with at least English Placement Test (EPT) and Arabic Placement
Jayyid Jiddan Test (APT)
AND
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
3 At least Band 3 in the “Malaysian University
If deemed necessary, applicants may also be required
English Test” (MUET) to attend an interview and/or take an entrance test
conducted by the Board of Admissions.
