Secrets of Survival
It is hard to survive, or live, in the Arctic.
But these foxes can do it.
Secrets of Survival
Arctic foxes know how to live in the cold. They
know how to keep warm. Arctic foxes have warm
thick fur. It is thick and keeps out water. These
foxes even have fur covering their paws!
Sometimes Arctic foxes wrap their tails around
their noses like a scarf. Snuggle up, foxes!
They know how to hunt. Arctic foxes eat
lemmings. Foxes can hear lemmings under the
snow. Then, the foxes jump and jump until the
snow breaks.
Arctic foxes aren't picky! They know how to find
a free meal! They will eat anything to survive. If
foxes can't find lemmings, they will follow polar
bears. Polar bears eat seals. Foxes wait for the
leftovers.
Arctic foxes have coats that change color! This
helps them hide. In winter, the foxes have
white coats to blend in with the snow. In
summer, the snow melts. Their coats turn
darker to match the land around them.

They have fur on the bottom of their paws
which keeps them from slipping on the ice. The
Arctic fox has a long bushy tail.
