Bhavans’ Legacy of Triumph Continues in the CBSE Grade 12 Examination
On 3 May, 2019, Indian Educational School, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kuwait re-
wrote history by redefining success, when the 9th batch of twelfth graders swept
the creamy layer of accomplishments as they stood atop the podium of the CBSE
Grade12 Board Examination 2019 with hundred percent pass with all hues flying
around. The exam results once again validated the undisputed acquired preroga-
tives of IES Kuwait as the ‘numero uno’ destination for ‘excelsior-knowledge-seek-
ers’ in Kuwait and the exultation this victory has ushered in knows no bounds.
IES is proud of the exemplary accomplishment of its 9th class 12 batch of boys and
girls who appeared for the AISSC examination in March 2019. 44% of the Science
Stream students graduated with an aggregate of 90% and above. IES has every
reason to celebrate as Bhavanites of the Science Stream scored more than 80% ag-
gregate in all the subjects this time. The school average for the subjects are: English
(87), Math (81), Physics (86), Chemistry (87), Computer Science (93), Biology (86),
Economics (80), Business Studies (81), Informatics Practices (89).
It is heartening to mention that 74.5 % of the students passed securing A grade in
Chemistry while in Computer Science 73.1% secured A grade. In English 69%, in

Sudarshan Sundarajan with a perfect 100 in Chemistry is the first in the Science
Stream with an aggregate of 97%, Rahul Mathew George who hit 100 in Mathemat-
ics stands second with 96.8% and Mitsumi Nandi and Elizabeth Jiji made it to the
third position with 96.4% aggregate. In the Commerce Stream Alana Ann Prakash
has 95% aggregate to her credit and is in the first position, Srinidhi Thumurikota with COMMERCE STREAM TOPPERS
94.8% is second and Keziah Biju George with 89.6% is third.
Bhavans regales in the glory of centum in Math and Chemistry which the prodigies
of Bhavans have brought home relying only on their teachers at Bhavans. This adds
more charm to the euphoria at Bhavans.
Mr. N. K Ramachandran Menon, Chairman of Bhavans Middle East, and Mr. Sooraj
Ramachandran, Vice Chairman, Bhavans Middle East, appreciated the incredible
achievement of the students that has placed IES in the shimmering light of victory,
and acknowledged the efforts of the staff of IES. They also acknowledged the un-
stinting support of the parents whose immense trust in the school, and its philosophy
has evidently played a significant role in its efforts to raise the bar every time, be it in
academics or otherwise. Mr. T Premkumar, Principal of IES expressed his boundless
joy, on the prodigious accomplishment of the students in general, and in a special
way of his own student Sudarshan. The impeccable teacher student chemistry ena-
bled his student to score a perfect 100 in Chemistry. He attributed the school’s suc-

BHAVANS SHOWCASES EXCELLENCE IN THE
ANNUAL SCIENCE GALA
Jleeb Al Shyoukh, April, 2019: It was a moment of great pride when Indian Educa-
tional School was crowned the ‘Best Performing School ‘among 17 Indian schools all
over Kuwait at the Annual Science Gala organized by Science International Forum,
Kuwait. The ceremony was held on 12 April 2019 at the Indian Community School,
Khaitan. IES took possession of the much coveted ‘Acharya JC Bose Award’ for the
fourth consecutive year, thus establishing its supremacy, as an invincible contestant
in the field of Science. The valedictory ceremony was graced by the chief guest
Padma Shri (Dr) Ganapati D. YADAV (Vice Chancellor, Institute of Chemical Tech-
nology R.T. Mody, Professor Tata Chemicals Darbari Seth, Professor of Innovation
and Leadership, J.C. Bose National Fellow (Govt. of India), Adjunct Professor, RMIT
University, Melbourne Australia, Adjunct Professor, University of Saskatchewan, Sas-
katoon, Canada). Dr. Suzanne Al-Bustan (Associate Professor, Faculty of Science,
Kuwait University) was the Guest of Honour.
Among the budding scientists, Manha Anees of class 5, Nevin Noji Vaidyan of class
7 and Vishnu Balram of class 9 emerged victorious and were declared the winners
of Sastra Pratibha Contest. The icing on the cake was the golden opportunity for the
Sastra Pratibhas to interact with the eminent personality, Dr. Ganapati D Yadav. The
proud team of students and teachers, under the able guidance of its captain,
Mr. T. Premkumar, the Principal, IES was honoured in the midst of jubilations.
The school Sasthra Pratibha coordinator 2018-19, Ms. Deepashree T.C was also
felicitated by SIF.
The Kuwait Children’s Science Congress (KCSC) was held on 23 November 2018,
Friday at Indian Central School, Abbasiya. The team comprising Natasha Martha
Fernandes, Sandra Santhosh and their guide Ms. Freny Abraham, Physics Coordi-
nator, was declared as winner in the senior category with A+ grade and qualified for
nationals. Two other teams comprising Shreya V Arun, Marushka Rita Fernandes
and their guide Ms. Anselma Tessy, Senior Vice Principal (IES), and Sarah Parvesh,
Jogesh Sriram Radhakrishna and their guide Ms. Sindhu Ashok were recognised as
outstanding performers with ‘A’ grade. The winners and outstanding performers of
Kuwait Children’s Science Congress and their guides were felicitated in the Annual
Science Gala These promising scientific scholars are expected to extend their unique
contribution to the world and bring along many more laurels to the school.

Bhavanites Bask in the Glory of CBSE Grade 10 Results
Jleeb, May 06, 2019: The momentous feat by the Class 10 students of
Indian Educational School (Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan), Kuwait proudly pa- SCHOOL TOPPERS
raded its success and glory as a premier education in the sands of Kuwait.
Bhavanites bagged success in the CBSE board examination in the most
impressive fashion.
An atmosphere of excitement and exuberance that naturally follows re-
markable success was seen at the Indian Educational School. IES reaped
the golden harvest of 100% in the board examination when all the students
who had appeared for the Class X CBSE examinations in March 2019 ma- MALAVIKA KRISHNA
jestically cleared the first hurdle of their academic odyssey with astounding
success. 97.2%
IES was praised for its stupendous success in the CBSE grade 10 exami-
nations. The reception lounge was abuzz with the parents and the students

alding the influx of incoming calls that lavished praises on Mr. T. Premku-
mar, the principal, IES and his team of teachers who are second to none
in Kuwait.

aminations much to the approbation of the stakeholders of the institution.

ANNUAL FIELD TRIP TO AGILITY
Enriching field trips contribute exponentially to the development of stu-
dents to civilized young men and women who possess more knowledge
about the world around and have stronger critical- thinking skills. On
May 16, 2019, 46 students of the commerce stream, along with the two
teachers Mr. Samuel HM and Mr. Susanth K V reached the grounds of
Agility Logistics to have a better understanding of how the world of logis-
tics works. Agility holds an impressive global footprint in over a hundred
countries serving over 60000 customers with over 22000 employees
worldwide having a revenue of $4.64 billion(2017), with services spread
over all the sectors including apparel, oil and gas, food and so on.
The instructors expounded the impressive feats of Agility and sensitized
them on Human Resources department and compiling and analyzing
an organization’s long terms financial strategy. Students also visited the
warehouses and the instructors talked about the rigorous schedule of the
firm with all the goods coming in and out.
The conduciveness of the tour guides helped and gave the students in-
put for prospects for future career paths. The trip ended at quarter past
12. The trip gave the students an invigorating perspective into the world
of logistics. This in- field experience ignited an interest and passion in
commerce which can't be experienced in the classroom.
WORKSHOP ON ORAL HYGIENE AND DENTAL CARE FOR THE STUDENTS OF GRADE 4
A workshop on Oral Hygiene and Dental Care was conducted on 19th May for the students of Grade 4 with an aim of educating the children about how to take care of their
teeth and to follow the correct dental practices. Dr.Shameema Rauf, working as a general dental surgeon, Kuwait University, was the resource person for the programme this
year. Dr.Shameema,a member of Indian Dental Association in Kuwait, has recognition as a reputed dental surgeon who serves her patients with gentleness, care and deep
concern. Primary Vice Principal, Ms. Lalitha Premkumar welcomed the gathering.
Dr.Shameema educated the children on the importance of dental care and how to take excellent care of their teeth using a variety of teaching aids and PPT, perfectly tailored
for the age group .She gave great tips on dental care and oral health, proper brushing and flossing techniques, healthy eating habits and provided rich learning experiences for
the kids. She reiterated the fact that early dental care prevents dental diseases and developing good oral hygiene is the first line of defense against many common dental
issues. Children interacted very well and asked relevant questions .Doctor was mesmerized by the enthusiasm shown by the children and queries the children had.
Bhavans, IES always strives to bring experts as resource persons in various fields to give talks or conduct workshops to students on topics that align with the school
curriculum.

IMPRESSIVE INVESTITURE AT IES
IES in a superiorly impressive fashion, invested the insignia of authority with 17 elected members of the ‘student supreme council’ of the school along with prefects, house
captains, vice captains, junior captains and the office bearers from the primary wing namely ‘blossoms.’ The propitious occasion was graced by the Chief Guest, Her Excel-
lency SamrgulAdamkulova, the ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Kuwait and Guest of honour was Mr Raeven D’ Souza, the managing director of Times Kuwait.
The investiture of the academic year 2019-20 was elegantly conducted in the school auditorium with all pomp and grandeur. The ceremony was attended by the worthy
parents of the Supreme Student Council, the teachers and the students of classes 11 and 12.
In the implementation of accession, bestowing badges and sashes of honour to the newly sworn-in student council headed by the Head Boy (Daniel Thomas Koleth, 11 A),

Bhavans Rhythmscapes, the cultural wing of Bhavans Middle East completed the
seventh year of its successful operation in the Middle East. ‘Samarpana 2019' the
‘arangeetam’ of the newly trained dancers was organized to rededicate the commit-
ment to our student and parent community. The fourth edition of the ‘arangeetam’ of
Rhythmscapes was held on 3 May 2019 in the Smart Indian School auditorium. The
function was formally inaugurated by the revered Chairman of Bhavans Middle East
Mr. N K Ramachandra Menon. The auspicious occasion was graced by the presence
of the Principal of IES Mr. T. Premkumar, Principal of Smart Indian School Mr. Mahesh
Iyer, the Vice Principal Primary Wing of IES Mrs. Lalitha Premkumar, and the Vice
Principal of Smart Indian School, Mrs. Albin Daisy. 118 students have put their heart
and soul and chiseled each mudra to perfection. A highly encouraging audience of
