TIPS

1. Offer more “work-from-home” opportunities where students can complete leadership hours with online or
remote organizations of their choosing & increase the number of outside-APO hours permitted.
2. If students can complete a leadership development course or speech outside of APO programming (Alison.
Com, Youtube, etc), you could ask them to turn in a paragraph review of the course for their leadership hour
credit.
3. Group leadership events could take place virtually if students planned to watch a speech or take a course to-
gether (live on Zoom, Skype, etc) by hitting ‘play’ at the same time.
4. Besides webinars and courses, there are many ways to gain leadership experience through APO. A flexible
option to offer your exec members or committee chairs would be to offer leadership hours for planning a virtual
event, leading an extra virtual meeting or townhall, or something outside of their typical responsibilities in the
chapter.
5. Reading leadership materials online may also be a great alternative for students who prefer something other
than video learning. You could ask them to turn in a paragraph review of the material they read for their leader-
ship hour credit.
