Seven years later, we’ve had the pleasure

The one constancy is that it always has
been phenomenal weather DURING our stays.
Mother Nature rewards travelers that endure
an ominous forecast by welcoming them with
gorgeous coastal weather so that they can
explore and fully appreciate the absolute beauty
that the cove provides. There is so much to see
with its black sands beach, sun basking seals,
the historic Cape Mendocino lighthouse, a new
local brewery, a nine hole golf course, an active
boat ramp with enthusiastic fishermen, a busy
coastal airport, and whale watching.

For our getaway weekends to the
Inn of the Lost Coast, there is an
added bonus to guests that make
reservations during this time of year.
On Friday and upon the arrival of
our group, the Inn provides guests
with delicious tri tip and a crab feed
with all the fixings. It’s a great time
to mingle, get a taste what is on tap
at the cove’s local brewery while
enjoying acoustic ambience from a
local musician. Another bonus is on
Saturday evening, local members
from the club - The Family Humboldt
MC generously prepare a delicious
spaghetti meal with all the fixins for
guests staying at the Inn.

Later in the evening, guests often
gradually gathered around the roaring
fire pit on the back deck to listen to
the waves below the Inn. Although
a first this year was an impromptu
acoustic jam provided by guests in
attendance which included a guitar,
a fiddle and a couple of lead singers
from the Sacramento area. This was
a special year as there were several
first-timers to the cove and there were
seven guests that happened to be
celebrating their March birthdays.

It was another memorable weekend
getaway at the Inn of the Lost Coast!
It was one that the guests enjoyed the
cove so much that they’ve already
made reservations for 2022! Our
mission has been accomplished! But
don’t let that dissuade you from making
reservations, get on the waiting list
in case there is an unforeseeable
change of plans that might create an
opening. And ‘we’ll see you there!’

RIDE DESTINATION:

st. helena

On SR 29 Tra Vigne

Things were a little hectic this month. Several things
popped up that required our attention, so time was at a
premium. Nevertheless, we did carve out enough time
for a short trip over to Napa Valley. The fine little town of St.
Helena is where we would hang our hat. Bike packed, we set
a course for Winters. At least a couple of times every year,
we make that wonderful ride up SR 128 and into the valley.

After a quick bite at Steady Eddy’s there in Winters, it was
lots and lots of twists and turns up through Lake Berryessa
and on to Turtle Rock. We were bummed that the Rock was
closed! No Egg Rolls this time around! Instead of taking the
direct route to St. Helena, we turned north on Chiles Pope
Valley Road. This is a nice little road that will take you Through
Pope Valley and after connecting with Butts Valley Road, will
roll you on into Middletown. You’ll enjoy this back country
ride. Lots of spooky, moss covered oaks will accompany you
along the way.

Our room and all kinds of other artifacts. The Hub Cap King’s ranch is designated a

After reaching Middletown, you can head west on SR 29 and make your
way to Calistoga. SR 29, of course, is a well paved piece of asphalt with
mucho twists and curves. Lots of fun! BarBeQue anyone? Gotta stop at
Busters, right? Probably the best beans ever!

Later, after pulling into St. Helena, we putt-putted over to the El Bonita Motel
(www.elbonita.com) This is a real nice place. Lots of clean rooms, a pool,
spa, sauna, a firepit if you want to sit out with a glass of wine or something.
The rates are reasonable and would be an ideal spot for a large group.

We’re always in the mood for Italian food, so for dinner we decided on
the Tra Vigne Pizzaria (www.pizzeriatravigne.com) which is just down the
street. Although they have some excellent wood-fired pizza, we opted for
the Rigatoni Bolognese. Good stuff, Maynard! The Arancini (Risotto Balls)
were also very tasty. Earlier, we had gone over to the Prager Port Works
and picked up a bottle of Tawny. When we got back, we poured a couple of
glasses and hung out at the firepit for a while. Aww… so relaxing!

Well, it was kind of a short trip, but very enjoyable. The next morning, we
found SR 128 again and had a great ride back in the opposite direction.
Later!

We rode past intriguing old barns, rustic and falling down, and

reason is that steel is safer, as it has no give to it. It will not

A New Generation of
Chief is Born:
Introducing

2022 Indian Chief

Franklin at the peak of his powers in the mid-
1920s, as Indian’s Chief Engineer

Yesterday 1921 marked the debut of the Indian Motorcycle
Chief. Designed by the legendary Charles Franklin, the dirt
track racer and engineer who also dreamed up the Scout,
the Chief had a 61-cubic-inch V-twin, dual cams, a low seat,
and graceful lines. Riders loved its reliable power, formidable
torque, and agile frame, and the bike quickly gained fans
around the world. In the 1940s, the Chief helped fuel the
post-war era of bike racing and customization in America.

Today For its’ 100th anniversary, one of America’s most
iconic bikes has been completely reimagined by America’s
first motorcycle company. The new Chief is the perfect blend
of old and new - a timeless design supplemented with modern
technology and performance, and zero compromises. It
retains its classic compact stance, simple steel frame, and 64-
inch wheelbase. With the Chief’s timeless design, dedication
to Indian Motorcycle’s legendary past, and unobtrusive
modern technology, the only people it will disappoint are the
ones who hoped to keep it in their rearview.

ANGELZ BLOG by Brittany Morrow

We sat down with President Carol Bothe-Ramm and Vice
President Angie Hill from the Road Diamondz Chapter of the
Chrome Angelz – based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota – to chat
about their first two years as a club and what makes their organization
special.

“Chrome Angelz RC is an international organization, and we actually
have our own chapter called the Road Diamondz. Just between the two of
us, we’re riding an Indian Roadmaster, Honda Shadow, Harley Davidson
Dyna low-rider, and a Yamaha VStar 650. We are open to everyone –
everyone who is a woman and rides any type of motorcycle. Our chapter
specifically has only one sportbike rider, and the majority of everybody
else rides cruisers, but we are open to any woman – even trike and three-
wheel riders.”

Here’s a quick history lesson: Chrome Angelz RC was formed in 2012
in New Jersey. As an international presence, Chrome Angelz is focused
on connecting and supporting both local and international communities as
a whole. Many of the chapters in the USA are doing different events like
poker runs, fundraising for local humane societies, or are simply providing
a Thanksgiving dinner, or buying Christmas gifts for a family that can’t
afford it.
