03 She admitted that she already had an excellent job where she once worked as a human resource officer and a lecturer, but why did she choose business? WHYBUSINESS? The owner Education & Work Background Bachelor in Human Resource Management. Worked as Human Resource officer at one factory at Kelana Jaya. Worked as a lecturer at private university for 2@3 years. runs a business Name: Ida Syamila Age:39 y/o Status: Married Origin: Tawau, Sabah By MatoMato She and her husband have something to show and tell people out there, where they use art as a tool. That's why they chose a business - a cafe - where they can showcase their values through an art space. They present their artwork such as poems, writings, performances, and more in the art space that runs simultaneously with the cafe. Balbuk Haus has 5 main cores that have been focuses on, which are art, literature, mucic, local culture, and cultural realms.

SOMETIMES THERE IS NO SUPPORT SYSTEM, IT'S JUST YOU & YOUR GRIND . MatoMato Project SUPPORTSYSTEM She believes that the biggest support system is herself because she says that we are the ones who understand ourselves the most. We know our strengths and weaknesses. By admitting all those facts, we will definitely continue to fight and walk through all the obstacles, and in the end, we will find that one point where all our strength is focused, just to keep moving. Whatever things we choose to do, we do them ourselves and rely on ourselves for support. She also mentioned her husband as someone standing right behind her and supporting her in many ways. Not to forget all the staff that have been working with her - they help and support her by giving opinions and ideas on how to keep the business going. 04

EXPERIENCES "Creativity takes courage." – @henrimatisse The best thing about running this cafe is the atmosphere. Balbuk Haus cafe is located in the middle of a paddy field. She also loves the experiences where she can still do what she is passionate about, which is art, and also run the cafe. Balbuk Haus has one specific room, called 'Bilik Kaca,' where she showcases her and her husband's artwork. It's different from other business owners who usually say that the best thing is when you manage to unlock one of your desired things, such as being able to purchase a car or even a house. She has to experience different atmospheres at the cafe, where it can be blazing hot during the day and breezy and cold at night. This makes the work in the kitchen much harder. MatoMato Project 05

BIGGEST OBSTACLE IN CAREER PATH OF BEING A BUSINESSWOMAN 06 Our greatest obstacles are our wisdom and capability to continue surviving and moving forward. When we're able to persist and begin with what we have, we face the greatest difficulties. It is because, from those capabilities, we met within one point where we have to keep moving and get through the phase as well as the process that we are facing now. By Kak Ida Therefore, it is important to acknowledge that the obstacles we face are not insurmountable and that we have the ability to overcome them. With perseverance and determination, we can push through the challenges and emerge stronger on the other side. It is also crucial to maintain a positive mindset and focus on the end goal, rather than getting bogged down by the difficulties we encounter along the way. By staying motivated and committed, we can achieve success despite the obstacles in our path. MatoMato Project

WRITING MatoMato Project 07 Kak Ida is a person who likes writing. Kak Ida has the idea of wanting to produce a handbook that contains the writing of Kak Ida that people can read and observe by themselves.. In Balbuk Haus itself, we have our own Pondok Mustaka, and in the glass room which Kak Ida occupied now, at the back side placed the shelves that are filled with reading materials which are our collection. Actually, Kak Ida has been writing since 2013 and the first book published by Kak Ida is Dia Ida in which this book Kak Ida spent time writing with Kak Ida’s husband. Next, other than writing for books, Kak Ida also has been writing in zines. There are a few of Kak Ida’s works that had been published in the news portal such as Selangor news and Nusantara news which is from Indonesia as well as a few collaborations with other writers that Kak Ida has been involved with. The latest one is in 2020 which is also Kak Ida’s last published book. In the future, she will publish a zine from Balbuk Haus which comprises the collective writings of Kak Ida, Kak Ida’s husband, and a few writers that are going to collaborate with them.

TIME MANAGEMENT BUSINESS AND WRITING Kak Ida's approach to balancing both her business and writing is to focus on each activity separately. During business hours, she dedicates herself solely to her business, and during writing hours, she devotes herself entirely to writing. This strategy enables her to excel in both her business and writing pursuits, making her an excellent role model for aspiring writers and entrepreneurs alike. Kak Ida, a successful business owner and writer, manages her time effectively to balance both her business and writing pursuits. She creates time for writing and captures ideas as they come to her, whether it's jotting them down in a notebook or typing them into her phone. While Kak Ida values her writing, she prioritizes her business over it. However, she still makes time to write and compile her work into a file, so it's always ready for publishing. BUSINESS IN THE LONG RUN Kak Ida suggests that before starting a business, it's essential to identify its weaknesses, deficiencies, capabilities, and substance. Understanding these factors will help young entrepreneurs define their business's aim and the value it can offer to customers. Rather than solely following the latest trend or starting a business out of boredom or passion, it's crucial to have a clear value proposition. Balbuk Haus is an example of a business that isn't just following a trend. Kak Ida believes that running a business isn't solely about using a huge amount of money, following the latest trend, having free time, or even just having passion. Instead, it's about conveying a unique value that sets the business apart from others. By doing this, a business can sustain in the long run and go through several phases. Firstly, Kak Ida is married to someone whos was born and raised in Perlis, Kak Ida’s husband is specifically from Kampung Balik Bukit, Chuping. He know every inch of this place since he has lived here throughout his life. WHYOPENBALBUKHAUSIN PERLISINSTEADOFPLACESLIKE KUALALUMPUR? Balbuk Haus is not only Kak Ida’s business, it has a special sentimental value because it is a path that the husband and wife shared along and they faced a few phases to develop Balbuk Haus from a small hut to the existence of a glass house and until outsiders get to reach them amidst of a paddy field. PLANSMOVING FORWARD FOR THIS BUSINESS Balbuk Haus has its product namely Sambal Tomat. Sambal Tomat is produced on their own as well as in the aspect of cooking, packaging, labeling, and marketing is done on their own. Balbuk Haus plans to market this product towards a wider range in terms of demographic and geography instead of placing the product solely within the café. In Balbuk Haus itself, they will divide the place in which the café will only be used for anything related to café. Meanwhile, for music and other performances or any events where they can collaborate with outsiders or even open the opportunities to accept collaboration from outsiders, they have their own particular space for us to work on it.

If Kak Ida is given a chance to meet her younger self from 5 to 10 years back, she would tell her "You did it" It is not only about her interest since young but also a passion to leave and impact for people around her, having them returning back from the shop with certain sentiment, extensive experience and rememberance If we are feeling so, we will go through it smoothly and yes, we did it Interest and Passion What we like to do "Yes, you did it" TO KAK IDA'S YOUNGER SELF...
