51 Freestyle wrestling is one of the most courageous and exciting sports included in the program of the Olympic Games. In 1981, in Sudislavl, under the leadership of Snurnitsyn Nikolay Yegorovich, a freestyle wrestling section was opened. In 1994, the work was continued by a wonderful coach, Master of Sports of the USSR Sundeev Eduard Nikolaevich. His students took gold medals in championships, became winners of all-Union competitions. At present, the work of the teacher is continued by his student Sobolev Igor Aleksandrovich. The Sudislavl youth enthusiastically learn this sport. Since 2012, 8 candidates for Master of Sports in freestyle wrestling have been trained. The sportsmen take part in competitions at various levels, including the championship of Russia. Many times young athletes from Sudislavl learned from famous champions and Masters of Sports of Russia, such as Buvaisar Saitiev, Anatoly Beloglazov, Oleg Borisov. Every summer on the streets of Sudislavl you can meet young talented boys and girls who draw their hometown. Classes in the open air are very popular with young painters. Here the children manage to show their creative abilities, feel the natural light and transfer what they saw to paper: natural motifs, architecture of buildings and portraits of passers-by. The best works of young painters are sent to competitions of different levels, and the students received their awards. The Art school has graduated more than 270 students, half of them entered educational institutions related to artistic creativity. 56 In 1955 the pioneer team of Sudislavskaya secondary school was named after Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya. In September 1983 a monument of Zoya was erected in the school yard. The monument was erected on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Zoya’s birth with funds earned by school students from collecting scrap metal. Every school events are taken place near the monument. The students lay flowers to the monument and honour the memory of Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya. Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya was a Moscow schoolgirl and a member of the Komsomol. The fascists were not far from Moscow, and Zoya became a partisan. She crossed the front line and joined a group of partisans. The partisans who fought together with Zoya were very fond of her. She was brave and never afraid of the enemy. One day near the village of Petrishchevo she was captured by a group of German soldiers. She was tortured but she didn’t give the fascists the information about her comrades and their work. She was taken to the main square of the village and hanged on a scaffold. The last words of the young partisan were: “Be brave, struggle, destroy the fascists! I don’t fear death, comrades. I’m proud to die for my people! There are 200 million of us. You can’t hang us all. Victory will be ours!” Zz Zoya
