หนังสืออ่านเพิ่มเติม เรื่อง “Wat Arun in Bangkok” จัดท าขึ้นเพื่อใช้เป็ นสื่อประกอบการจัดการเรียนรู้กลุ่มสาระการ เรียนรู้ภาษาต่างประเทศ รายวิชาภาษาอังกฤษ ส าหรับชั้น ประถมศึกษาปีที่6 โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อส่งเสริมและพัฒนาการ อ่านภาษาอังกฤษของนักเรียน ส่งเสริมให้นักเรียนมีนิสัยรักการอ่าน นักเรียนสามารถค้นคว้าและพัฒนาทักษะการอ่านด้วยตนเอง หนังสืออ่านเพิ่มเติม เรื่อง “Wat Arun in Bangkok” ประกอบไปด้วยเรื่องราวของสถานที่ที่ตั้ง สิ่งที่น่าสนใจ การเดินทาง เพื่อให้นักเรียนได้เรียนรู้เกี่ยวกับวัดอรุณ อีกทั้งยังเกิด ความภาคภูมิใจในประเทศตนเอง ผู้จัดท าหวังเป็ นอย่างยิ่งว่าหนังสืออ่านเพิ่มเติมเล่มนี้จะ ส่งเสริมทักษะการอ่านของนักเรียน ให้นักเรียนมีความเพลิดเพลิน และสนุกสนานกับเรื่องที่อ่าน สุวนันตรา หงษ์โสดา ค าน า

“Wat Arun in Bangkok” One of Bangkok’s most famous landmarks and known from many postcards, the Wat Arun is best known for its massive prang, a tower on the Chao Phraya river bank built in Khmer architectural style. The prang with its height of more than 80 meters is the highest in Thailand. The Wat Arun, commonly known as “the Temple of Dawn”, is one of only six temples of the highest grade of the first class Royal Temples, and therefore one of Thailand’s most revered temple. 7

It is also one of the few temples that predates the founding of Bangkok and the start of the Rattanakosin era in 1782. It’s prang dominated the skyline around the Chao Phraya river during the early days of Bangkok and today is still one of the most impressive sights on the river. 8

Things You Must See There Main Prang (Khmer-style tower) One of the highlights of Wat Arun is the main prang. Upon entering the complex, you’ll catch a glimpse of this unique tower in Khmer-style. Surrounding the structure are gigantic pagodas that outline the amazing Thai craftsmanship. 9

Cloister The cloister of the temple complex contains more than 100 Buddha images. Chinese Pavilions Around the Chinese pavilions, the green scenery effortlessly complements the sophisticated exterior of red and white. 10

Ordination Hall Another popular spot in Wat Arun is the Ordination Hall. This is the holiest compound in the temple, where you’ll find Niramitr Buddha Statue, along with other sacred items. As you enter the place, you’ll meet the two giant guardian figures. Stop by the towering stone guards and gaze at the vibrant and elaborate designs. 11
