From the Dean’s Desk

Nowadays, art education and courses are blooming rapidly in both public
and privates institutions in Malaysia. This scenario reflects the needs and
interests in art and design in the country’s development indeed. Faculty of
Art & Design or fondly known as AD, Universiti Teknologi MARA, which was
founded in 1967, has resulted in many great achievements to the university
and the country through various academic and artistic activities. The main
focus of this faculty is to prioritize excellence in teaching and learning,
encouraging research as well as nurturing human capital aligned with UiTM’s
requirements, as a pioneer in the field of art and design in this country.

The faculty offers various programs ranging from diploma to PhD, producing
graduates who are viable to the diverse market sectors. Hence, skilled
human resources who are assets to the faculty play a big role in nurturing
competence, knowledgeable, integrity and excellent personality in each
student.

AD always strive to achieve the vision in enlisting UiTM as a world-class
university. Apart from emphasizing on the quantity and quality aspects
in terms of academic and individual potential, the faculty also aims to
empower the knowledge dimension towards entrepreneurial culture which
may provide high returns as well as increasing social mobility in society.

Today, AD is always on the track to be the world-class art reference centre
with a more proactive, creative and innovative approaches, parallel to the
status of a developed nation. Therefore, various strategies are designed to
strengthen and enhance the capabilities of the faculty in the spectrum of
religion, nation and country, as a whole.

The Academic Affairs

Faculty of Art & Design, UiTM at Selangor campuses are located throughout
Shah Alam and Puncak Alam. We are offering diploma and bachelor
degree program at multiple locations in five other branches: UiTM Kedah,
UiTM Perak, UiTM Melaka, UiTM Kelantan and UiTM Sarawak. With 19 Diploma
programmes, 10 Bachelor’s and 5 Master’s Degrees, and 1 PhD in high-
demand field. Faculty of Art & Design offers affordable tuition rates and
financial aid packages that allows students to spend thousands less than
other local state colleges and universities. In addition to the traditional day
classes, our programme offers online courses and accelerated learning
programmes through flexible curriculum structure.

The Office of Academic Affairs, Faculty of Art & Design is one of the six major
offices within the Faculty’s Top Management Office. We deliver academic
services to students at all levels of study from the point of enrolment to
graduation, contribute to securing the quality and standards of academic
courses of study and organise the appropriate deployment of space on
campus to support the student experience. The Dean is a core participant in
the Faculty’s budget development and strategic planning.

The Office of Academic Affairs is also responsible for supporting the work of
the faculty, whose teaching, advising, and scholarship brings the academic
programme to life. The office oversees the faculty curriculum and new
curricular initiatives; support for faculty research and innovation; and the
administration of all academic departments and programmes, and offices
within the division of academic affairs. It also serves as part of the Student
Administration Registry function, manages the ongoing maintenance of
undergraduate and postgraduate student record data from registration
through to the publication of final results and first transcript, including the
administration and examination entry.

The office offers a convenient first point of contact for students who wish
to seek advice or assistance with their general experience of Art & Design
life. The office provides an ombudsman-like role for students who may be
encountering difficulties in their programme of study. The Office of Deputy
Dean (Academic Affairs) office is located on the 4th floor of Faculty of
Art & Design main building. The faculty is located on Main Campus of the
University.

The Student Affairs

The office of the Deputy Dean Student Affairs (SA) is to undertake the
academic development programs in order to enhance its students’
credibility and personality. It also plans, implements and supervises the
students’ associations and clubs at all levels.

The office will also plan, coordinate, and implement students’ activities in the
fields of sports, arts and culture related. A Community Service or Corporate
Social Responsibility is another important aspect to explore and expose our
students to the outside world.

It is our hope that with the comprehensive programs and suitable activities
plus the commitments, we will be able to develop our students’ self-
confidence and strong personality in preparing them for their careers
whether as professionals, artistes, designers or entrepreneurs.

The Research & Innovation

The office of Deputy Dean Research & Innovation (RI) is of service to oversee
the research and innovation activities in the field of art and design. This office
is to provide assistance to all faculty members and students in research
grants application, publications, intellectual properties, consultation as well
as commercialization.

The office also attends to facilitate the research collaborations between
other disciplines such as humanities, social science, and science &
technology. This collaboration transcends from local to international via
smart partnership and will forge strategic application of research approach
and theories pertaining real-world concerns, interpreting research outputs
into meaningful applications into design practice that involves academician,
corporate, non-profit and government sectors.

The faculty will be exploring new areas of research such as industrial
revolution 4.0 and cloud technology by merging it with the existing strength
of the faculties in the field of visual communication, design technology, fine
art technology, and visual culture. This will accelerate the creative potentials
in a wider global economy.

Printing Technology Program

Printing technology program was first introduced in 1993. Printing Technology
program, Faculty of Art & Design, UiTM is located in Puncak Alam, Selangor.
We are offering diploma and bachelor degree program. The intake of
students is twice a year, namely in March and September sessions. The
average intake of students in each session is 30 - 40 students for both
Diploma and bachelor degree program. The objective of the program is
to produce graduates in the printing profession and to fulfil the requirement
from the printing private sector as well as government sector. The graduates
produced are the semi-professional workforces that have the knowledge,
competent and confidence to meet the industry demand.

The period of study at Diploma program is two (2) years and six (6) months,
while a bachelor degree program is two (2) years after diploma level.
The establishment of the department of printing technology in UiTM can
support the growth of the printing industry in Malaysia. UiTM emphasis on
producing graduates who are knowledgeable and competence in all
aspects such as management, interpersonal, technical, entrepreneur and
the integrity and excellent personality. The university understand the need
of the printing industry for competent human resources that specialized in
the field of printing management. This is considered as efforts of UiTM to
spread education on the printing knowledge, promote a research culture
and expected of professionals achievements in the printing field.

We always strive to achieve the UiTM’ vision in order to become as a world-
class university. We actively encourage our staff and students to build and
make cooperation and collaboration with educational institution (local and
overseas) as well as players within printing industry. We try to play a big role in
graduating good human resources in the wide spectrum of religion, nation
and country, as a whole.

Hayyan Madu Alam is a company that import and

supply honey from Kashmir Pakistan. They are established in 2016.
This company is a donator for one of the older madrasah at Pasir
Mas, Kelantan called Pondok Lubok Tapah. It is owned by Mr. Nik

Restaurant Le Lac is located at Section 13 Shah Alam.

Nasi Lemak Tepi Jalan 1996 Setia Alam, HQ are in

Petaling Village (the earliest site opened since 1996 until now and
this second branch after Cheras Selatan. Founder of this restaurant
is the owner’s parents, the late Aziz bin Mat and the late Nooraini
bt Mansoor. They started trading at the Petaling Street area with an
umbrella and a table. They named their nasi lemak sambal “Super
Sambal” because sambal nasi lemak is their secret recipe.
