Yacht Chandlers is pleased to announce the 1st annual Dutch Yacht Crew Rally 2023. Yacht Chandlers is pleased to launch the 1st annual Dutch Yacht Crew Rally 2023 which will be held on Friday 24th March from 9am to 19pm in Amsterdam. This all-day event will be a great opportunity for crew to meet other crew of different new build and refit projects for support and friendship, discover the Dutch countryside and learn interesting facts about Holland and its traditions. Crew will drive through the picturesque Dutch countryside in an iconic Citroën 2CV enjoying a day of sightseeing, networking and team building in a relaxed and informal environment. Join the rally of the year behind the wheel of one of our 2CVs!
For crew, this fun day will be a perfect chance to meet other crew of different projects for support and friendship, discover the Dutch countryside and learn interesting facts about Dutch culture and its traditions. They can learn more about the next generation of new build opportunities in a relaxed and informal environment, meeting different service providers which will make the build or refit process as smooth as possible. We expect the Dutch Yacht Crew Rally to be a highlight of the year as everyone gets the chance to network with crew and leading companies in the Dutch superyacht industry! WHAT WHO WHY The rally will be driven in Citroën 2CV cars with drivers and their passengers navigating through various checkpoints passing Dutch landmarks. Along the way there will be several stops at key locations, during which sponsors will organise Dutch games and introduce teams to typical Dutch dishes and delicacies. Other elements making this an unforgettable experience will be great coffee, meeting new people, testing the driving skills of teams and a party at the end of the day. The rally will take place on Friday the 24th of March from 9am to 7pm, starting and finishing in Amsterdam. The rally is aimed at yacht crew who are currently based in Holland, or are going to be based in Holland at one of the Dutch shipyards. Hosted by Yacht Chandlers and YC Interiors, this full-day event will bond together companies that work within the Dutch superyacht industry. From shipyards to crew training providers, yacht designers and marine equipment suppliers, the idea is to bring together industry professionals in a relaxed atmosphere whilst boosting Holland’s profile and introducing the product and services various companies provide.
The event will take place on Friday the 24th of March from 9am to 7pm, including lunch during the rally and Apéros in Amsterdam. We start the day with coffee and pastries at 9am, followed by a short briefing before the rally starts at 10am. We expect the cars will arrive at our mystery lunch location by midday. Here, a simple Dutch buffetstyle lunch will be served. We depart after lunch and a short explanation of the history of this location at 2pm and drive to our next stop for a refreshment around 4pm. The final leg of the rally will be just under an hour’s drive and will end with a driving test to test the skills of the teams! Once the Ducks have completed the distance, we expect all vehicles to be back together by 6pm, after which will be able to review the day during an apéritif. Just before 7pm, we will announce the rally winners then say goodbye to those who wish to return home. For those who wish to continue the evening in Amsterdam we have optional accommodation options within the vicinity. WHERE HOW WHEN The Rally kick-off will take place at the NDSM shipyard, known for being an iconic shipyard in Amsterdam with a cultural background located on the river IJ in the North of Amsterdam. The location is easily accessible by car from the A10 or a short ferry ride from Central Station if arriving by public transport (further details to follow). Participants will be welcomed at the trendy café-restaurant ‘IJver’ which is surrounded by art, culture and history, and is located in a post-industrial building next to the shipyard. There is a large parking lot in front of the café where the Ducks will be waiting for their drivers, and where we will also finish our Rally at the end of the day. We can’t wait to see you there! Crew will drive Citroën 2CVs also known as ‘Ducks’ with a minimum of two people and a maximum of four people in one vehicle. Teamwork will be essential to follow the rally instructions with the help of pen, paper and a stop watch in order to journey along the route and stop to participate in several challenges along the way. En-route, the cars will stop at several locations with plenty of opportunity for the crew to meet with each other and chat. Shipyards can invite crew who are currently or will be based in Holland for a new build or refit. Each shipyard can book the rally cars ranging from a two-person car to a little bus. The cars will get a sticker with the name of the yard, as well as a rally number. Don’t miss out! We have a limited number of vehicles, so book your 2CV today!
The event will start and finish at the NDSM shipyard next to Cafe IJver Amsterdam restaurant in an iconic old shipyard in Amsterdam North. This location is easily accessible by car from the A10 (with parking available onsite), or by transit as it's a stone-throw away from Amsterdam Central Station. It is a free event for crew, includes a light breakfast/lunch/drinks/snacks etc. we just require your RSVP sooner than later to reserve your “duck” as their are limited cars available. Your days itinerary is as follows: 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. - All crew participating arrive at the starting line for a brief welcome and introduction to the event. 10:30 a.m. - All “Ducks” are off! 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. - Lunch Stop 3:00 p.m. - Break Stop 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. - Arrive back at starting line for a reception to crown the winners of the 2023 rally! 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. - Light reception with other crew and event sponsors.
