“The sides of the mountain sustain life, not the peak.
This is where things grow, experience is gained, and

Every achievement is first an idea. It is the concoction of this
idea, zeal, determination and optimism that brews the cup of
success. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the learners,
teachers and parents at Lotus Valley International School,
Gurgaon, for another triumphant year. DR. SHAYAMA CHONA
PADMASHREE & PADMABHUSHAN
Each New Year brings forth new hopes and resolutions. AWARDEE
Gradually, as the year ages, more often than not, we see this
ardor and devotion begin to dwindle. I salute the vigorous spirit of Lotus Valley family for keeping
the lamp burning, undeterred. My sincere congratulations to the Principal, Mrs. Anita Malhotra
and the entire staff for their profound dedication, which has taken the school by leaps and
bounds to the global arena. The various students and teachers’ exchange programmes
undertaken in the last months exhibit the persistent devotion and resolution of this family.
I also take this opportunity to extend my warm welcome to the new learners who are now a part
of this enormous and wonderful family. May you prosper and flourish as you nestle under the
wings of an affectionate Principal.
Lotus Valley International School, Gurgaon, is a school for life. It nurtures and caters to every
possible aspect of a learner’s character development. We are proud to produce socially and
environmentally responsible citizens. Through the ‘Barefoot Project’ and ‘Behtar India
Campaign’, our learners have displayed their concern for the society and vowed to contribute
and bring about a change in their own capacity. My best wishes for their fervent ventures.
The satisfaction and gratification I cherish on account of my association with Lotus Valley is
beyond explanation. A dream envisioned has blossomed into a triumphant reality, in such a short
time span! My compliments for all its present and future endeavours.
From the principal’s desk
Change does not necessarily assure progress, but
progress implacably requires change. Education
is essential to change, for education creates both
new wants and the ability to satisfy them.
Education today is a multi-faceted system through which MRS. ANITA MALHOTRA
we, at Lotus Valley International School, Gurgaon offer our STATE & CBSE NATIONAL TEACHER
children myriad refracted images of the world, myriad
perspectives; and because we, as a school, have espoused AWARDEE
the cause of modern education, we are able to prepare our
children for real world success. We pursue educational
excellence and endorse social, cultural and cognitive
diversity.
The spirit of change is infectious and heart-warming. It has begun from the events that have
happened all over the world and in our country and has seeped down to touch the lives of
individuals. Education in the 21st century has become very exciting and challenging for educators
as well as learners. The term ‘learner-centred’ is now foremost in the minds of the academicians
as they conceptualise, plan and implement new ideas. The teacher student relationship is now
more symbiotic than ever with the idea of teachers as facilitators and students being empowered
to read, refer, research and present their work. In this changing scenario, we are devoted to
carrying forward our mission through our curriculum.
Exclusive faculty at Lotus Valley International School, Gurgaon provides the students with their
expertise, experience and insight required to navigate the ever changing landscapes of
knowledge and pedagogy. Our belief in a high quality of education, with a global outlook, is
critical in an increasingly competitive global environment. Our value driven learning system has
awarded us achievers and stellar performances.
To abreast our readers with the latest happenings at school, we present this edition of our
quarterly E-Magazine. Happy Reading!

Let’s give back to the community
Performing Community service is a great way
for students to learn about their surroundings and
the problems faced by different sections of the
community. It makes them understand the joy of
giving and helping others. Keeping this in mind,
Lotus Valley International School Gurgaon initiated
a visit to the “Goonj”, a processing centre in Sarita
Vihar. Goonj is an effort to help provide people in
rural areas with basic necessities like clothes,
shoes and stationery. It believes in the dignity of
the receiver and makes sure all items contributed
(not donated) are in usable condition when they
go out. The students had a great learning
experience and saw first-hand the work and
commitment that goes into the processing of
these objects. They visited each unit in turn and
were informed about different projects and
undertakings of the organization.

Dear Anita,
Thank you for the report.
Firstly, I would like to congratulate you all once again for
winning The Futuristic School of India award. It is indeed a
well-deserved recognition of all the efforts and hard work of the Principal,
management and staff.
As always I am really impressed with innovative ideas and
activities which are conceptualized to make learning fun and
interactive for the students. So much planning and hard work goes behind each and every activity every
month. All of you deserve boundless appreciation for this. Keep us the good work.
I am so happy to see the reading programs being carried out at nursery and primary classes. Involving the
parents in the same was a brilliant idea.
The club activities seem to be in full swing the pictures are a delight.
I am so unfortunate to have missed the literary fest but I am so glad that it was a grand success. Glad to see
technology day being celebrated among all grades.
Ample opportunities are being given to the teachers for training and development, I am sure these initiatives
will bear fruit in the long run. Keep the momentum going post the summer break.
All the best.
Sincerely
Dr. Chona
Dear Anita,
I really liked the different craft activities being taking place for the pre-primary students. Their work can be
displayed in an exhibition at the Open House. The Ice- breaking activities also seemed quite interesting and
fun. I am sure the children must have become good friends now.
Really happy to see book day being celebrated and the emphasis being given to promoting books and
reading in this age of kindles, tablets and IPads. The children need to appreciate the joy of reading actual
books.
The NDTV and TOI initiatives would be a great platform for the school and the students, I am glad that you
decided to be a part of the same.
Keep up the good work
Best

Dear Anita,
Thank you for the report. I really appreciate the efforts going in towards making learning fun and
interactive not only for the pre-primary but other grades as well. I am really happy to see the importance
given to sports and also community service. Please offer my congratulations to Elina and Shivali for
spearheading the cleanliness drive for the students as well as the parents. Other than sensitizing the
students about the environment it must have been a fun filled activity and also have enlightened the by
standers as well.
Please offer my congratulations to all the winners of the various inter and intra school events.
Kudos to you and your team for all the hard work. Keep it up.
Sincerely
Dr Chona
