be opened manually. When the
devices get electric source, then
you need to press the switch button of the
device. Each electronic device like fan, radio,
calculator, rice-cooker, heater, television,

etc. has a power button to start.

Let’s see the given pictures:

Like in other electronic devices the computer
also has its own power button. After you join the
computer system with electric source, you need to
press the power button of monitor and system unit.

You know that paint brush is a
drawing and painting program
of a computer. You can draw
pictures, and fill color in it as your
requirement. The paint brush
program is also called Microsoft
Paint because it was developed by
microsoftcompanyoftheUSA.Microsoft
Paint is a simple computer graphics
application program.

Opening a paint program

As we discussed in the previous class about the
paint program, here in this class also we will learn
to start the paint program.

Click on the Start button or press the windows key.

Type mspaint on search box.

From the list, click on Paint as given below.

Components of paint windows:
Title bar

The title bar is located at the top of the paint
windows. It displays the name of a paint file. In the
given picture Quick launch Bar and Untitled-Paint
are located on the title bar.

Tab
Tab is located just below
the title bar. It has three
tabs they are File, Home and View.
Ribbon
It contains the information of tab like of FILE,
HOME and VIEW. The following is an example of
ribbon available in Home tab.

Drawing area
This is a blank area of paint window where drawing
and painting are possible. We can use various tools
and also insert pictures from the colour box.

Control Buttons

In the paint windows, we can see

three buttons on the top right Minimize Close
Maximize

side of the screen.

Minimize
When we click in the minimize button, the paint
window becomes small in size.

Maximize
When we click in the maximize button, the paint
window becomes large in size.

Close

When we click in the close button, the paint window
gets closed.

Working with Home Tab
We can create different types of shapes, colour
them and perform various activities with paint. You
need to click on Home tab to see the given box.

like select tool, fill with colour tool, text tool, pencil

We can draw various shapes
with the help of the above
given box. Let’s identify the

Colouring the shapes:

We can use colours on the shape with the help of
the colour box. We have to use the fill with colour
tool to fill in the colour on the shape.
Create a shape without colour fill.
Click on the fill with colour tool.
Move the mouse to the colour box and click over

the required colour to select the colour.
Bring the mouse pointer inside the drawing area

and press the left mouse button.
The drawing area gets filled with the colour.

Brushes tool

This tool is used to spray colour
inside the drawing or you can
also freely brush on the drawing
area. When you use this tool it

arrow of brush and select more styles of airbrush
with different thinness or thickness as below.

Colour picker tool

This tool is used to copy colour from one part of the
drawing to another. The function of colour picker is
same as fill with colour tool.
To use colour picker tool
Create one picture with a colour and next

picture without colour as below.

Click on Colour Picker tool.
Move the mouse inside the first picture and

press left mouse button. (picker tool looks like
a fill with colour tool)
Move the mouse pointer to the next figure and
click the left mouse button inside the picture
to apply the same colour.

Rubber tool

This tool is used to erase the part of a picture from
the drawing area which you do not need.

Pencil tool

This tool is used to draw pictures with free hand.

screen as given.
You can press the shift key together while

drawing with the pencil tool so that the line
will be straight.

After you complete your work, you have to close the
program. You can use the following ways to close
your file.
