Lighting Up Lives

The Deepavali weekend of 2019 was a well-organised “family
affair”, themed around the spirit of sharing, giving, and igniting
light and hope in the hearts of the less privileged.

A total of 35 orphans from Rumah KIDS Subang & Klang got
to enjoy a fun Deepavali celebration on the morning of October
26, thanks to management representatives and staff from
KPGCC, Botanic Resort Club and Jade Hills Resort Club as well
as KPGCC member committee representatives.

Along with a hearty celebration complete with wish-list
daily necessities, goodie bags, ang pow’s and a KFC lunch, the
overjoyed children also enjoyed a ‘kolam’ decorating session
which wonderfully added to the festive decorations that
adorned the home.

These festive charity visits, part of the annual Corporate
Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, are always memorable
events, leaving both the ‘giver’ and ‘receiver’ with a heart full
of gratitude.

Rumah KIDS Subang & Klang currently houses up to 40
youths between the ages of 1 and 18, and requires aid both in
cash and kind to sustain itself. Those who wish to lend a
helping hand may contact the home’s caretaker Mr Eric at

Loose impediments

Under Rule 15.1, a player may remove loose impediments anywhere
on or off the course (with 2 exceptions) and may do so by using a hand,
foot, club or other equipment.

Why is there a Rule change?
Loose impediments or natural objects are not treated as part of the
challenge of playing the course, and the player may remove them as
they interfere with play.

However, the player needs to be careful in removing loose
impediments because if a player’s removal of a loose impediment
causes his/her ball to move, the ball must be replaced on its original
spot (which if not known must be estimated) and the player will incur
a one-stroke penalty, unless the ball lays on the Putting Green.

How to hit a golf
ball farther

Every golfer wants to get a bit more distance to their hits. The question is, HOW
does one hit a golf ball farther?

All of the top-200 ranked golfers have some common moves; one of the
most crucial is LAG. What is a LAG?

LAG is maintaining the 90-degree angle during the downswing (Image 3).
The longer you can hold the LAG before impact, the farther you can hit the ball.
When you are able to hold the LAG, that means you are no longer casting the
club. This leads to greater impact position, centred contact and higher smash
factor.

Have you seen golfers who swing the club at a lower clubhead speed but
still manage to outdrive you, leaving you wondering how that was possible?
That person’s smash factor is probably higher than yours.

Refer to the images on the right, apply the drill in your golf swing, and
experience a noticeable change!
