Reciprocating Friendships

Taking place on the afternoon of
Thursday, June 13, the Reciprocal Signing
Ceremony between Kota Permai Golf &
Country Club and the Kobe – located
Mukonodai Golf Course was a lavish
affair.

Held at the Permai Lounge, the
management teams of both clubs in

With this arrangement in place,
golfers from both clubs can look forward
to new and enjoyable experiences when
they travel overseas.

mukonodai golf course

Designed by Osamu Ueda – also known as “Ueda of great strength” –
and established on October 1, 1966, the Mukonodai Golf Course is
scenic and beautifully designed. Combining a landscape with a view of
the Hokusetsu Mountain and a number of seasonally blooming plants,
Ueda’s sense of aesthetics breathes through the 18-hole course with a
number of beautiful and dynamic ranged hazards.

Approximately 6,808 yards in size, the hilly, inter-forest course has a
fairway of Gyoreo Grass, with the Rough Bent consisting of Natural
Grass. The out-course is divided by pine woods in each hole, with the
in-course having a strategic layout where accurate shots can be
displayed – allowing it to be enjoyable for both beginner and advanced
level golfers.

XXIO Prime Woods
The new XXIO Prime woods will appeal to golfers with moderate
swing speeds looking for easy distance and superb accuracy with a
premium look.

The 2019 XXIO Prime woods feature a redesigned hosel structure
and reduced stiffness at the tip of the driver shaft. These features
make it easier for moderate swing speed players to shut the face at
impact for greater distance and accuracy.

The new woods are also lighter, making them faster while still
remaining extremely easy to swing. A new forged cup face, made
from Super-Tix Plus Titanium, is thinner, lighter and stronger for
increased COR across the entire face.

“The speed increases, higher launch angles, and draw bias of the
new Prime will show immediate results from swing one. It is legit
lightweight power for the players that absolutely need it the most,”
said Chuck Thiry, vice president of XXIO USA.

Fourteen Golf TC560 Forged Irons
Fourteen Golf’s TC560 Forged Irons combine beauty with all-round
excellence. The new irons from the Japanese clubmaker boast a
traditional look but are designed for great performance as well.

The single-material forged cavity irons combine forgiveness,
workability, great feel and outstanding distance in a single set. The
clubhead is forged from S45C steel, chosen by Fourteen Golf’s
engineers to increase ball speeds and enhance feel. Utilising this
material, the face thickness of the iron could be made thinner and
faster, thus resulting in outstanding distance.

Meanwhile, the deep undercut cavity design allows for additional
weight to be positioned around the cavity area, which produces a
club with both amazing distance and generous forgiveness.

The TC560 has a larger profile compared to other one-piece
forged irons. However, Fourteen Golf’s CG technology enabled them
to produce an excellent feeling and great performing iron with an
oversized body, increasing forgiveness on off-centre hits. Alignment
is facilitated due to the progressive slight offset design, where the
head design frames each shot nicely to help instil confidence at
address.

Double XT-Boost
adidas Golf’s top-end Tour360 range achieved a rare double success
in the My Golf Spy (mygolfspy.com) shoe ratings for 2019, with the
Tour360 XT and the Tour360 XT SL topping the Best Spiked Shoe and
Best Spikeless Shoe categories respectively.

My Golf Spy noted that the Tour360 XT’s top rating made it back-
to-back wins for adidas spiked shoes, with the Tour360 2.0 taking No
1 spot in 2018. The independent website’s review of the Tour360 XT
noted that the brand’s flagship offering ranked no worse than second
in any of the metrics they considered, adding that “it offers excellent
arch support and an updated sole design that provides superior
traction. For those focused on comfort, adidas’ boost foam provides
just the right amount of cushioning.”

For the Tour360 XT SL, My Golf Spy described the shoe as being
in a class by itself, noting that “it offers exceptional arch support with
an advanced sole design that provides remarkable traction. For many
that demand comfort, adidas’ boost technology provides the best in
the industry. Its classic yet stylish design is sure to catch your eye.”

golf course updates / announcement

Tining And Verticutting

In the interests of improving playability for the Club Championships we have carried out golf course maintenance and
cultivation programmes, including hollow tining work on the Greens and verticutting the Fairways in the month of May.

Verticutting is a vertical mowing technique used to
remove grain and thatch from the fairways. Thatch is a
layer of dead stems and roots that form between the
grass and soil. This process was completed on the
fairways of all 18 holes. With these programmes carried
out, we should see a healthier and greener fairways.

Hollow tining is the removal of cores from the green and
it's a green cultivation practice that results in reduced
surface compaction and improved water and oxygen
movement in rootzones of the grass.

relentless pace set by both teams that led to
a close game. While both teams were equally
matched, team KPGCC’s perseverance and
determination led to them winning 6-4.

Both teams later adjourned for dinner
after the match, with the ten-course meal,
karaoke, dancing and 'live' band marking a
memorable end for the day.

Putting With
The Flagstick
In The Hole

Being allowed to putt with the flagstick in the hole is
another rule change that aims to speed up pace of play.
Prior to 2019, if your ball hit the flagstick while you were
putting, it would cost you two penalty strokes. Now, if you
have decided to leave the flagstick in prior to putting, there
is no longer a penalty if the ball hits it.

The key note for Rule 13.2a (2) is that the decision to
either; i) leave the flagstick in the hole or ii) have the
flagstick removed (or have it attended) must be made prior
to the stroke. If the flagstick is attended and the ball has
accidentally hit the flagstick or the person holding it, there is
no penalty.

If your partner has just hit out of the bunker and the
shared caddy is taking time to rake the bunker, you can go
ahead to putt with the pin unattended to speed up play
without fear of any penalty should your ball strike the
flagstick.

Aside from improving pace of play, it is still inconclusive
whether there are more benefits to putt with flagstick left in
the hole... you remain the best judge!

Happy putting and playing.
