Friends and Colleagues—
2018 will mark a major milestone for the Wadsworth Company as we celebrate our 60th year in business as an em-
ployee-owned golf course construction company. Through those 60 years, we have had the pleasure of working with
many great clients and architects. The industry has evolved over those many years but one thing remains true—the
game of golf still is the greatest testament to sport and life itself.
Fortunately, for many of us the golf course industry has been rebounding throughout the country with a significant
increase in both major and minor renovation projects with a few new construction projects moving forward. The
Wadsworth Company has continued to re-invest in itself to service this growing demand in order to deliver on the
tight schedules with the highest quality of work. New and better performing equipment has been purchased to facili-
tate the work, but more importantly, we also continue to invest in our most valuable asset, our employees. We have
recently added two key personnel to our team with the hiring of Matt Lohmann and Doug Myslinski. Both started
their careers with the Wadsworth Company and we are glad to have them back on the team.
Our efforts continue to be guided by the principals and high standards established by our founder, Brent Wadsworth,
in 1958 when he first formed this fledgling company to service the golf industry. The goal of providing the highest
level of quality golf course construction at a fair price have served us well throughout the past 60 years and we hope
for many more to come. Please find attached a list of highlighted projects that we are currently working on or have
recently completed. Do not hesitate to contact any of us if you have any questions or would like additional infor-
mation about the projects. We look forward to seeing you soon and hopefully working on honoring the game of golf
together!

Best Wishes,

Patrick Karnick
President

Oak Meadows—Addison, Illinois

Recently opened in the Fall of 2017, this environmental overhaul of the former Elmhurst Country Club has
received high marks from both the golf and environmental communities. Originally a 27-hole track, Greg
Martin, ASGCA, directed the redevelopment and transformation of this 140+ acre site into an 18 hole envi-
ronmentally friendly park-style golf course suited for players of all abilities for the Forest Preserve of Du-
Page County in the western suburbs of Chicago. An entire existing creek was re-routed through a mile+
long diversion channel built adjacent to the existing creek while the existing channel was re-aligned. The
newly re-aligned Salt Creek not only serves as a major element of the course but primarily serves as a
flood control measure for the site and habitat for native plants and fish.

Naples Lakes Golf and Country Club—Naples, Florida

The improvements to Naples Lakes Golf and Country Club started
in late April of 2017 with a plan to completely renovate the golf
course. Thad Layton, ASGCA Associate, of the Arnold Palmer
Design Company took on the lead role of overseeing the renova-
tion of one of the company’s original courses. The scope of work
included a complete rebuild and re-shaping of the new USGA put-
ting greens, new teeing surfaces and “wall to wall” re-grassing of
roughs, tees and fairways with Celebration Bermuda and TifEagle
Bermuda greens. The work also included re-shaping all of the
bunkers while incorporating Coquina material to form waste bun-
kers and cart paths. The practice facility was enhanced with new
putting and chipping greens while drainage improvements to the
entire course were implemented. The drainage was thoroughly
tested as Hurricane Irma struck the gulf coast after the construc-
tion was substantially complete. Very little of the golf course
construction was impacted despite the enormity of water that in-
undated the site.

North Shore Country Club—Glenview, Illinois

Having hosted the 1933 US Open, two (2) US Amateur Championships (1939 & 1986), Western Open
(1928), and most recently the Champions Tour Encompass Championship (2013-2015), the Colt Alison
1924 originally designed greens were ready to be rebuilt/restored similarly to their original shapes and sizes.
Rick Jacobson, ASGCA teamed with the Club and their long time superintendent Dan Dinelli, CGCS to de-
velop a plan to reconstruct the greens, bunkers, adjust fairway grass lines, new irrigation lines around the
greens and integrate native fescue areas into the golf course. This “restoration” project has been a huge suc-
cess. “The project turned out wonderful and we couldn't ask for a better team to work with. Everyone was
professional, responsive and paid great attention to detail” - Dan Dinelli, CGCS

Rio Secco Golf Club—Henderson, Nevada

“The purpose of the renovation is to update the golf course features and practice facilities to today's playing
standards with a focus on increasing playability and sustainability” stated Rees Jones ASGCA, who over-
saw Wadsworth’s renovation of Rio Secco, a once Top 100 rated golf course. The work included the reno-
vation of all the bunkers including re-shaping, moving and altering all 80,000 square feet of the Better Billy
Bunker lined bunkers. Five of the putting greens were completely reconstructed for improved playability
while the remaining greens had 4” of material removed and replaced with a USGA sand/organic blend. The
project’s schedule was “fast track” and wrapped up in the summer of 2017. The private club is home to the
legendary golf instructor Butch Harmon and you can read more about his reaction to the renovation HERE.

Baylands Golf Links— Palo Alto, California

Forrest Richardson and Associates, ASGCA, took on the project of modifying this original William Bell designed
Baylands Golf Links for the City of Palo Alto in an effort to accommodate the re-routing of the San Fransisquito
Creek, a major flood conveyance creek. The result was the complete re-build/re-routing of the golf course including
all new greens (modified USGA), tees, bunkers, grassing and cart paths. The new hybrid HDPE/PVC Toro two-wire
irrigation system with Infinity heads was designed and laid out by Russ Mitchell. The bunkers were constructed us-
ing Better Billy Bunker Method and Dura Bunker faces were installed on two strategic pot bunkers. The entire
course, with the exception of the bentgrass greens, was either sprigged or sodded with Platinum TE Paspulum. The
project started in the fall of 2016 and was completed in September of 2017. The Wadsworth Company also complet-
ed the grow-in of this golf course. Look for this excit-
ing course to open in the Spring of 2018.

“Wadsworth recognized the complex nature of our
work at Baylands Golf Links. Their bid not only
included the right number of people, but the right
people. The finished work reflects this foresight. We
were fortunate to have them on board.” - Forrest
Richardson, ASGCA

Sunset Valley Golf Course—Highland Park, Illinois

The renovation to Sunset Valley Golf Course for the Park District of Highland Park included a complete re-
construction of this public golf course. In May of 2017 the Wadsworth Company commenced the large scale project
that had the golf course renovation designed by Rick Jacobson, ASGCA, and the new irrigation system by Tom Em-
merich. The onset of the project presented a significant challenge to the team when a 200 year rain event accompa-
nied by several multi-inch rains flooded the already organic soils. Despite the weather challenges, new USGA
greens, bunkers lined with Sandtrapper II, tees capped with sand/organic mix, significant drainage improvements
and re-grassing of the golf course were completed by mid-November 2017.

“The golf course was established in the 1920’s and Wadsworth successfully reconstructed the course
to reflect the historical context of that era under difficult site conditions” - Rick Jacobson, ASGCA

Dallas National Golf Club—Dallas, Texas

The renovation of the practice facility at Dallas National will transcend the way the Club’s members and guests prac-
tice. Colligan Golf Design creatively included twelve (12) new target areas, a new practice tee and practice putting
green. The new double ended practice range and its new California sand based greens will also serve as a “short
course” for both kids and adults to hone their short game. A new irrigation system was installed prior to the site be-
ing sodded with Bermuda and Zoysia grass varieties. The project was completed in September of 2017 and will be
open to the members and guests very soon!

The new practice facility has been well received by the The project team of Santos Vasquez,
Members of this Top 100 Rated golf course Greg Korneta and John Colligan, ASGCA

Oakwood Country Club—Sun Lakes, Arizona

The existing 27 hole public golf course retained Forrest Richardson, ASGCA, and Gaylon Coates (Irrigation) to plan
for improvements to the Sonoran 9-hole course. The plan called for a series of new forward tees that would improve
the playability of the course while renovating all of the bunkers. Some bunkers were removed while others were relo-
cated as the Better Billy Bunker Method of bunker construction was implemented. A new irrigation system was also
installed throughout the entire 9-hole course. The Wadsworth Company had renovated the 9-hole Lakes Course at
Oakwood in 2015 and the Sonoran Course was completed at the end of August in 2017.

Bobby Jones Golf Club—Atlanta, Georgia

The renovation to the Bobby Jones Golf Club in Atlanta will no doubt leave an indelible mark on golf in the state of
Georgia. The project was one of Bob Cupp’s final designs before his passing and is being carried on by his son,
Bobby Jr. The Wadsworth Company is very excited about the opportunity to work with Bobby Jr. to deliver what
Marty Elgison, president of the Bobby Jones Foundation stated as “An enduring legacy to Bob Cupp and Mr.
Jones”.
The renovation will consist of converting the existing 18-hole golf course into a reversible 9-hole golf course with

all new tees, bunkers, irrigation, grassing and uniquely designed double greens to accommodate the reversible rout-
ing. The work includes a state of the art practice facility and the new Georgia Golf House that will accommodate
Georgia State University’s Men and Women’s golf teams, the Georgia State Golf Association and the Georgia Sec-
tion of the PGA of America.

Copper Canyon Golf Club—Buckeye, Arizona

Nestled within the Pulte Homes Festival Ranch development, Copper Canyon Golf
Club is currently an existing 18-hole public golf course designed by Lee Schmidt and
Brian Curley, both members of the American Society of Golf Course Architects. The
pair of architects have been retained by Pulte Homes to design an additional 9-holes to
complete the 27-hole planned community. Marvin Mills designed the new irrigation
system and the Wadsworth Company will construct all new golf course features. The
golf course greens will be grassed with TifEagle Bermuda and tees, fairways and
roughs will be planted with 419 Bermuda. The anticipated schedule for this Troon
Managed golf facility is to begin construction in January of 2018 with completion in the
summer of 2018. Wadsworth Company will also manage the grow-in of the golf
course.

THE CURRENT PROJECTS PAGE 7

Tam O’Shanter Golf Course—Niles, Illinois

The “Tam” golf course’s history runs deep in Chicago golf. Legends of the game such as Palmer, Player, Nicklaus,
Snead and Nelson graced the grounds of the once 18 hole golf course as the first ever nationally broadcasted PGA
event took place here in 1953 under the direction of George S. May. Although the course is now only 9 holes, Todd
Quitno, ASGCA of Lohmann Golf Designs and the Wadsworth Company paid great respect to that history by reno-
vating the bunkers and tees while adding significant drainage to a site that abuts a branch of the Des Plaines River.
The project should wrap up in early spring and open back up for play around Memorial Day of 2018.

Keowee Key Golf Course—Salem, South Carolina

The Wadsworth Company is thrilled with the opportunity to work again with Richard Mandell, ASGCA to improve
the 1975 course Wadsworth originally constructed as a George Cobb design. The course nestled in the mountains of
Salem, South Carolina, will have all new tee complexes, significant drainage improvements, a new irrigation system
designed by EC Design, the bunkers will be constructed using the Better Billy Bunker system with sand supplied by
Golf Agronomics.

Exciting options for the 7th hole are being proposed by Mandell that will surely excite members and guests

THE UPCOMING P ROJECTS PAGE 8

Country Club of Mobile—Mobile, Alabama

The Wadsworth Company will be faced with a significant challenge working in one of the wettest cities (Mobile Al-
abama averages 67 inches of rain per year) in the United States remodeling one of the oldest golf courses in the
south. The original 1928 Donald Ross design will be renovated by Steve Dana of Jerry Pate Design. The golf
course improvements include significant drainage improvements, re-routing of several holes, new USGA greens,
tees, bunkers, an entire new pump station, irrigation system and re-grassing of fairway and roughs with Celebration
Bermuda. The greens will be re-grassed with TifEagle Bermuda. Erosion control and earthmoving are scheduled to
begin in late January with grassing in the summer of 2018.

Tanglewood Golf Course—Clemmons, North Carolina

Richard Mandell, ASGCA based in Pinehurst NC has proposed to improve the golf course by removing trees, reno-
vating the bunkers using the Better Billy Bunker method and some irrigation adjustments. The greens will be fumi-
gated and re-grassed with Diamond Zoysia. Tanglewood was the last course to host a PGA Championship in North
Carolina (won by the legendary Lee Trevino) prior to last years event at Quail Hollow. The schedule of the project
is anticipated to be May through September of 2018. Read more about Tanglewood at
www.golf.tanglewoodpark.org.

Palm Valley Golf Club — Goodyear, Arizona

The Palm Valley Golf Club renovation will mark the first time the Wadsworth Company will work with Phil Mick-
elson and his design team. The project consists of converting the existing executive style 18-hole Lakes Course into
a regulation 9-hole course and a new housing development. Nine (9) of the existing greens will be preserved while
adjustments will be made to the irrigation system, cart paths and fairways. The facility would then consist of 27-
holes with the existing highly acclaimed Arthur Hills Palms Course remaining intact. The scheduled start for the
project is Spring of 2018 with a summer completion. Palm Valley Golf is a Phil Mickelson Golf Property and you
may visit their website at www.palmvalley-cc.com.

Willowcreek and Willowbrook Golf Courses—Sun City, Arizona

Willowcreek and Willowbrook Golf Courses are part of the Recreation Centers of Sun City (RCSC), one of the
largest active adult communities in the United States. Willowcreek is an 18-hole regulation golf course that Gary
Brawley, ASGCA, proposes to renovate all greens, expand the irrigation lake, enhance landscaping, reduce the acre-
age of maintained turf and install a new state of the art irrigation system. Wadsworth Golf previously renovated the
bunkers and tees at Willowcreek in 2011.
Willowbrook is an 18-hole executive golf course that will have reduced turf and a newly designed irrigation system.
The landscaping around the golf course will also be enhanced. Work on these two projects will be simultaneous and
will start in March of 2018 with the greens completed by mid-July and the irrigation, grassing and landscaping com-
pleted by mid-August. The Wadsworth Company has previously worked with RCSC completing the renovation of
the North Golf Course (2014) and the Riverview Golf Course (2015).

THE F O U N DAT I O N

The Wadsworth Golf Charities Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Wadsworth Golf Construction
Company was established in 1997. The Foundation grew from the original Wadsworth Social Responsibil-
ity Program which was founded by Brent Wadsworth in 1980. Since its creation, the Foundation has con-
tributed in excess of 8 million dollars to organizations that embody its mission:

To make golf and the character-building attributes of the game more accessible to more people, with
the ultimate goal of helping the world become a more honorable, gentler and friendlier place.

The values of the Wadsworth Foundation are reflected in the missions of the organizations and other founda-
tions selected to receive funding. The Wadsworth Foundation funds programs and projects throughout the
country for youth and adults that have embodied the mission of the Foundation. The Wadsworth Foundation
seeks to support worthy efforts utilizing golf to:

 Provide golf programs for juniors, adults and families.
 Benefit facility development.
 Encourage youth development and participation in positive activities.
 Contribute to the development of skills and respectful conduct in sports, appreciation of the arts and re-

finement of manners, taste and thought.
 Benefit the disadvantaged and disabled persons and provide therapeutic programs.

The Foundation is currently in a process of transition following the loss of long-time President Leon McNair
who spearheaded many of the Foundation’s initiatives, including the Links Across A merica program. Eric
Wadsworth, Brent’s youngest son is the current President of the Foundation Board assisted by Leslie
Wadsworth in the management of all Foundation administration.

The Wadsworth Foundation has recently embarked on a partnership with the American Society of Golf
Course Architects (ASGCA) in the development of a scholarship program intended to provide financial sup-
port to students pursuing careers within a field related to golf course architecture. In addition, the Founda-
tion’s Board is currently exploring other avenues to pursue its mission. For more information on the
