Today is a new day. Today is a day for you to begin creating a joyous and fulfilling life. Today is the day
to challenge all your limitations. Today is the day for you to unveil the secrets of life. You can change
your life for the better. You already have the tools within you to do so. These tools are your thoughts
and your beliefs.
An affirmation is really anything you say or think. A lot of what we normally say and think is quite
negative and doesn’t create a good experiences for us. We have to rewire our thinking and speaking
into positive patterns if we want to change our lives.
An affirmation opens the door to positive living and is the starting point of the path to change. In
essence, you are speaking to your subconscious mind. Every thought you think and every word you
speak is an affirmation. All of our self-talk, our internal dialogue, is a stream of affirmations. You’re
using affirmations every moment whether you know it or not.
Your beliefs are merely habitual thinking patterns that you learned as a child. Many of them work
very well for you. Other beliefs may have a limiting effect on your ability to create the very things
you say you want. What you want and what you believe you deserve may be very different. You need
to pay attention to your thoughts so that you can begin to eliminate the ones creating experiences
you do not want in your life.
It is important to realise that every complaint is an affirmation of something you think you don’t
want in your life. Every time you get angry, you’re affirming that you want more anger in your life.
Every time you feel like a victim, you’re affirming that you want to continue to feel like a victim. If you
feel that life isn’t giving you what you want in your world, then it’s certain that you will never have
the joys that life gives to others; that is, until you change the way you think and talk.
Inspired by Louis Hay’s Heal Your Life, are some positive affirmations that we can make a practice of
saying everyday:

Do not just accept that you are doomed and that nothing can be done,
surely with a sincere effort some amount of shift can happen. Start working
on one positive change at a time. Follow the SMART goal technique-
Specific, Measurable ,Attainable, Realistic and Time bound. For e.g.- “I will
walk 20 mins everyday” applies to such a goal. Have a mentor who will
always motivate you. Do not be hard on yourself and give yourself time
to work on yourself. Take charge of your life and do not allow problems to
deepen and make it harder for you.

Poonam Kanav My Journeyy name is Poonam, which means a full moon and I am just like a moon

spreading knowledge and happiness throughout. I am ambitious,
strong, and am a staunch believer in the fact that women are meant to

I started working at the age of 19 as a student’s clerk in a bank during my vacations. I
competed for the title of Miss India with Madhu Sapre. I worked with the Taj Group of
Hotels Mumbai as a PRO. Later, I had to leave as I got married and then was blessed
with 2 beautiful daughters. I shifted to Nashik subsequently and was helping my
husband with our hotel Gaylord which we ran for around 14 years. My husband Ajay
has always been my pillar. Ours being a love marriage, we helped each other as good
friends. Adjustments were a part of our life and we respected each other’s opinion.
I am currently working with the NGO Aakar Welfare Foundation, where with the help
of my friends, I distributed blankets, clothes, slippers, and sweets during Diwali. On the
occasion of Women’s day, we distributed sanitary napkins in ZP SCHOOL PANCHAVATI
NASHIK. I have bagged a couple of awards at the Beauty Pageant titles Wow Highness
2018. The best Glowing skin, The best Hair, the best Performance and the 2nd RUNNER
UP wow Highness 2018.
