JPGS held a series of Activity Activity Days - Year 8, 9 and 10
Days for Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 over
the course of the last few weeks.
These were a unique and positive
time for all our pupils involved.
Each day offered a valuable edu-
cational experience which would
not normally be delivered during
a traditional school day.
Through a range of team building,
decision making, critical thinking,
stock market challenge, entrepre-
neurship and sporting activities.
Pupils were engaged, inspired and
challenged through working in
teams and as individuals. Pupils
really enjoyed the days, and this
was an opportunity for engaging
in personal development in a fun
and stimulating way.
We hope pupils developed their
self-confidence, motivation to
thinking outside the box, develop
better communication skills and
meet their friends at school after
such a long time. Thank you to all
the teaching and administration
staff who made these days possi-
ble.

Rule of Balance Competition
This picture was taken at Jeddah
Corniche at 18.08 pm. It was be-
fore sunset, so the lighting came
from the sun. The yellow/orange
sun is setting into the blue water.
The yellow contrasts the dark blue
that gradually becomes a light
blue while moving closer to the
sun. You can also see the reflection
of the sun in the water in the top
third. I went close to the water (so
the water starts of clear, wavy, and
dark blue and gradually gets dark-
er and less detailed) and made my
phone level with the horizon.

Book Week in Year 2
Year 2’s had a fun filled week
doing all things book related
on Book Week this year! It was
packed with fun activities, superb
photos, wonderful discussions
and most of all lots of stories and
books! Our theme this year fol-
lowed ‘Not all Superheroes wear
capes’. It goes without saying that
our greatest superheroes in the
school are our wonderful children
who have shown resilience and
perseverance in light of continued
virtual learning and it doesn’t stop
there! The children continued to
take part in all the activities and
most importantly had lots of fun!
From creating story corners in
their homes and extreme reading
photos to reading their favourite
books and making character hats,
we all had a fantastic week! Let’s
continue to let our books transport
us to different worlds and embrace
the love for reading in our lives!

Year 7 Activities Day
Year 7 finally returned to JPGS (al-
beit just for one day) on Wednes-
day 17 March. As a new Head
th
of Department, I was looking for-
ward to meeting pupils face-to-
face for the first time. During the
day we ran a round robin’ event in
the sports hall. All pupils took part
in eight sports during the course
of each 4 x 40 minutes activity.
We named each ‘sport’ accord-
ing to the equipment we used;
tennis, football, badminton, bas-
ketball, archery, rugby, hockey
and cricket, but anyone who was
in the sports hall would not have
seen any of these sports taking
place! The fantastic sports re-
sources available at JPGS allowed
us to be ‘creative’ in how we kept
the whole of Year 7 entertained,
competitive and Covid safe.
I was delighted that teamwork
won the day. But also the fan-
tastic energy, competitive spirit,
and maturity in taking turns and
playing fair were fantastic to see
throughout the day.
A big thank you and well done
also to our fantastic PE staff-

The Year 2 pupils have been busy
this term painting and drawing.
We have been learning about
rainforests this term and decided
to draw cartoon monkeys and to
shade in using pastels/crayons to
depict these animals.
In science we have been studying
rocks and the pupils had to go out
and find some rocks to paint on.
They thoroughly enjoyed this ac-
tivity and were able to report back
on what type of rock they had
found.

Arabic with Mrs Sally
Year 4 were introduced to a new
technique called talking 4 writing
it is a technique where the pu-

heard or read and then write it , in
early years we give them the base Dareen Raghab

some key vocabulary, then the pu-

we help them by giving them the

The Vigorous The Sleeping The Sky
Lightning Sun
The sky is low,
The water is slow,
Morning sun rose from the east, The trees will grow,
The vigorous lightning, The night sun settled in the west. And I will row,
