SAIKAC - The Saudi Arabian Inter-Kingdom Activities

GRAMMAR SCHOOL SPORTS DAY
The much awaited annual Grammar Sports Day
was held on Thursday 10th January 2019, with great
enthusiasm, excitement and entertaining atmosphere.
The programme began with the Head of PE Mr Lowe
welcoming the guests and emphasised the importance
of sports in a child’s life.
The pupils entered into the spirit of the occasion in a
professional manner marching down to the field with
their House captain leading the way. Once the Field
and track events began, the air was filled with cheering
and encouragement for the young athletes. Pupils
from Year 7 to Year 13 competed in events including
sprints, relays, high jump, shot putt, long jump and
triple jump. Next year we may look at introducing
javelin and a staff tug of war. To close the sports day
parents and staff were invited to take part in a family
fun race in which I believe Mr Leo and Mr Hakim were
victorious. The winners of the 2019 Grammar sports
day were NEWTON.

VOLLEY BALL
“Veni, vidi, vici”
All of our volleyball teams from different age
groups have risen to the challenge and stepped up
their game to a whole new level. The U14’s and
16’s winning gold, the U16 achieving that feat right
here at JPGS was very satisfying. Our boys and
girls went the extra mile training every weekend
and after school. Kudos to the awesome PE staff.
We will intensify the volleyball program next year
to make all the teams ready for competition and
defending the hard earned title...

made to feel incredibly welcome by both the PE
team and the pupils here. It has been so exciting
to be part of the department and watch our pupils
compete and succeed in the Kingdom.
The pupils have excelled in many competitions

to the fore. Our U16 Netball competition at BISJ
was an example of pupils getting together and
helping to get a team ready for competition.
Once there, the commitment on the court was
exemplary, and the play was outstanding. We have

BSME UNDER 13
Our Under 11/13 trips to Dubai this year were a
great success. It was a pleasure to travel away on an
international level with these pupils and compete.
Our Captains were great ambassadors for our school.
The students gave their best at all times and were
very popular with the other schools. The dedication
and months of training paid off with some excellent
results in the different disciplines. As ever our pupil’s
behaviour was exemplary and the staff were proud
of their efforts both on and off the field, courts and
swimming pool. BSME trips provide lots of memories
to take forward and experiences we can learn from
both in sports and in life. We are looking at entering
teams into the tournaments next year for U11 and U13
respectively.
