Scientific Evidence of the Patented Ventilation Technology
The scientific significance of the patented ventilation technology was investigated by a multidisciplinary research
team* consisting of experts in ergonomics, clothing physiology, and fluid dynamics. Ergonomic tests were
conducted with safety-shoe wearers in the industry to compareewest safety shoes with the patented ventilation
system to general safety shoes without a ventilation system in terms of temperature, humidity, muscular load,
and subjective comfort. Air flow through the patented ventilation system during walking was quantified and
visualized. This research paper received the award for Best Paper at the Proceedings of the 2014 Fall Conference
of the Korean Institute Society of Fashion&Textile Industry on 10th October.

All the subjective comfort evaluations such as thermal comfort, humidity comfort, pleasant feeling, fatigue sensation, fit,and
cushion comfort were found signigicantly increased in ewest shoes by 7% to 38% as compared to those in general shoes
