#SOCIAL DISTANCE life. I wish you a good read and hope this
copy reflects who we are as a community.
#STAY @ HOME Congratulations to the new members of our work-
er’s committee who prevailed in recent elections.
#WASHYOUR HANDS REGULARLY Many thanks to the HR team, the Ministry of Labour
officials from Masvingo and other service providers
who have ushered in this new and exciting team. I
am delighted to welcome our one and only female
committee member. This is a sober reminder that
we need to do more as management to actively
open up the workplace to more female candidates
in this physically demanding operation.
On the production front, we scored two major wins
for the quarter. Our highest gold production for the
year came in May when we exceeded our monthly
target by 15 percent. We also scored a major win
by rehabilitating our longest processing plant con-
veyor structure, C7, which had suffered structural
deterioration over the last thirty plus years. This
marks commitment by our shareholders to put
safety first.
I am disappointed to note that we suffered a serious
incident that resulted in major equipment damage
when our ore hoist rope snapped in June. It’s an
indication that we are not doing enough as manage-
ment to manage safety on the ground. We should all
take learnings from this incident to heart.
I will end this note with a repeat of the message I
sent out early last year on Covid-19.
A significant threat looms in this idyllic community.
The Covid-19 virus is real. It has started affecting
the way we work. It will continue to affect the way
we live for the better part of this year. It is invisible,
for many of us we have to see it with our minds.
When each and every one of us can see the virus
with our minds, we stand a better chance of mini-
mizing infections and eventually defeating it.
Can you see it?
