INTRODUCTION

Pustaka Negeri Sarawak is proud to organise the 4th
edition of the Sarawak Children's Festival.



We have local and International Storytellers from
around the world, Science Discovery Activities, Arts &
Crafts, Exhibitions, Performances and Junior Maker's

Market ; we are sure every child will be spoilt with
variety of activities scheduled during this two-days
event. Through all these fun and engaging hands-on
activities, children may discover their passion and
areas of interest thus empowering them to be the

skilled youth of the next generation.



It is always our mission to REACH OUT to children from
all walks of life and the underprivileged, we have also
put together some activities suitable for Special Needs

Children.



We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our
partners from government bodies, NGOs, Education

Institutions, Bookshops and Event Management
companies, whom we are collaborating with to make

this event a huge success.

practical experience with many
essential skills such as reading,
following directions, and measuring.
There are just so many great benefits
to cooking and baking with kids. So,
bring the kids into the kitchen!

WRITER SPACE A designed space to guide children to
learn about writing. Children should be
given opportunities to write on a daily
basis. Writing experiences are child-
driven and inspired but they are also
helping to build a beautiful foundation
and relationship with writing.

MAKERSPACE Makerspace grew out of makers culture, a
group of people dedicated to craftmanship
and creation. The purpose of a makerspace
is often expressed to be inspiring an interest
in Science, Technology, Design and Life Long
Learning into the people who are served by
the library.

GAME SPACE An exciting and suitable games place for
children to play indoor or outdoor
STORY SPACE activities. Developing their logic, their
accuracy and their ability to think on their
feet and outside the box.

Sparking a passion for reading through
storytelling with talented storytellers
from local and overseas. It is to
encourage children to be creative and
use their imagination to picture the
setting, the characters and the story as it
unfolds.

ARTISTIC SPACE Revealing natural creative skills to
produce creative works like paintings or
sculptures. Encourages children to be
more creative and use their imagination.

SENSORY SPACE A place that provides a lifelong
education for children and adults with
multiple developmental disabilities.

Hong Jie Jie 4

Linda Ang has been telling
stories as the character of
“Hong Jie Jie” for 22 years.
With more than 300 children
theatrical plays under her

belt, Hong Jie Jie's
approachable personality

enables her to educate
children through stage plays

in the most creative way
possible.

Themes like independence,
honesty, life education, self-
esteem and EQ management
are all included in the stage

productions. She always
emphasizes on interaction

between children and
parents and encourages

parents to go into the
theatre with their children.

Uncle Nai

Award-winning children's book author and illustrator who is
passionate about literature, science, art and education. He
currently operates NAI Art Studio, where he writes &
illustrates books, paints, conducts training for children's
rights to adults. The studio also housed a children’s picture
book library and a storytelling centre where he shares his
virtual storytelling.

Ariyo Zidni




Director of the Indonesia International Storytelling Festival,
Mochamad Ariyo Zidni, also known as Kak aio (Brother Aio), is a

well-known storyteller in Indonesia, storytelling coach and
trainer, children story writer, and a lecturer who teaches classes

on storytelling at several universities in Indonesia. Over the
years, aio has been participating in international storytelling
festivals as a storyteller and storytelling speaker in Singapore,
India, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea, and more to

come.
He is also active in the initiatives that he co-founded : The
Reading Bugs Indonesia Community, Ayo Dongeng Indonesia
Community, and FEAST or Federation of Asian Storyteller. 7
