Note from the President
Dear members of the Swiss Club of SA,
We've barely started the year, and we're already a quarter of the way to Christmas!
The year started with a bang - at the suggestion of the Consulate General of
Switzerland, we set about organising an event for the dozen young Swiss turning 18
this year in South Australia - an event known as Jungbürgerfeier. We set about finding
an appropriate location, and were very pleased that Pilatus was ready to host the
event, at their new offices in Harbourtown.
Invitations were sent by the Consulate General, but unfortunately, the small number of
respondents meant that we had to push the event to next year, but we will honour the
ones who did respond at the Fondue night instead.
Speaking of which, we are looking forward to the event, which is expected to sell out
again, and with good reason.
We have several more events planned throughout the year - Swiss National Day, the
Wuerstli Broetle picnic and the Samichlaus event - we're intent on making up for the
events we missed last year.
Our new committee is in full swing: Victoria, our Vice President, manages our
communications; Markus, our Treasurer, is modernising several processes; Daria, our
Secretary, is on top of all things relating to mail and paperwork; Marlene, our Activities
Manager, handles the logistics of the events; and Herbert and Marinette, our Activities
Coordinators, without whom we would have a lot more to do! A big thank you for
stepping up to your roles!
I look forward to meeting many more of you this year, in what promises to be another
busy club year. Come along and get involved!
Henri Guillaume

AJT-2021
10TH AUSTRALIAN JASS TOURNAMENT
PENNANT HILLS BOWLING CLUB – SYDNEY
MESSAGE FROM THE ORGANISING COMMITTEE OF THE JASS TOURNAMENT:
OVER THE PAST FEW WEEK WE HAVE CONSIDERED IF THE AJT-2021 COULD PROCEED AS PLANNED IN NEW ZEALAND.
FROM THE FEEDBACK RECEIVED, IT WAS CLEAR THAT VERY FEW WOULD CONSIDER TRAVELLING TO NEW ZEALAND
UNDER THE CURRENT CIRCUMSTANCES. SO IT WAS SUGGESTED TO HAVE THE AJT-2021 IN SYDNEY, WHO WAS NEXT IN
LINE. WE CAN THEN PLAN TO HAVE THE AJT-2022 IN NEW ZEALAND, AS WE ALL HOPE THE TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS WOULD
BE LIFTED BY THEN.
THIS IS THE ADVANCE NOTICE, THAT WE WILL ORGANISE THE 10TH AUSTRALIAN JASS TOURNAMENT IN SYDNEY. WE HAVE
BOOKED THE FUNCTION ROOM AT THE PENNANT HILLS BOWLING CLUB
HTTPS://PHBC.COM.AU/
FOR SUNDAY THE 13TH JUN-2021. THERE WILL BE RESTRICTIONS IN PLACE REGARDING ENTRY TO THE VENUE, TO ENSURE
WE ADHERE TO THE CURRENT REGULATIONS. WE WILL UPDATE YOU ON THESE AND SEND OUT THE REGISTRATION FORM
IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS.
