INTRODUCTION TO THE INNOVATION
• The current conventional method is done manually which is time consuming (an
average of 60 seconds per fish) and requires additional manpower. There is a risk of
contamination.
• The Automatic Fish Deboning Machine for Fish Fillet is fully automatic, requires less
manpower, saves labour costs, improves processing time (12 times faster). The
process becomes cleaner.

INTRODUCTION TO THE INNOVATION
• LABAH AiR (aLAt jeBAk sampaH perAiran ioT modulaR) can remove trash, debris and
oil from the surface of the river and concurrently monitor the river quality by
providing a real time value of pH, turbidity, Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Total Dissolved
Solids (TDS), river flowrate and temperature value via Arduino. These data can be
monitored by Android Apps anywhere and anytime.
• It can also act as MRC boat hop in/hop out platform. Developed based on modular and
COTS concept where the components are available locally, LABAH AiR is an economical
device, easy to maintain and requires minimum manpower to run and monitor.

VALUE PROPOSITION
• LABAH AiR is able to remove all floating trash, debris, and oil spill on the river.
• Attached IoT monitoring system works perfectly as the main control system.
• With the integration of LABAH AiR, management cost for river cleaning process will

INTRODUCTION TO THE INNOVATION
• One of the problems faced by the disabled or elderly people is accessibility to the toilet which
is generally due to their health problems as well as overcrowded situations.
• To overcome this situation, a shariah compliant product namely SUCI-URINAL SYSTEM
(SUCI-URIS) was developed.
• This product allows users to urinate easily and hygienically without having to go to the
toilet. On top of that, those who are trapped in traffic jams and who have the urge to urinate
can benefit from this product.
VALUE PROPOSITION
• It has received the shariah-compliant status from Mufti of Melaka, Mufti of Wilayah
Persekutuan as well as from Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM).

INTELLIGENT WEARABLE TRAVEL AID
DEVICE FOR BLIND PERSON (iSPEC)

INTRODUCTION TO THE INNOVATION
• Most visually impaired persons (VIPs) conventionally use a white cane for travel. However,
the white cane has limited access range because it can only detect the obstacle below the
abdomen level. For VIPs, there are two areas that need protection from obstacles such
as open windows, signboards, back stairs, rear trucks and etc. Therefore, to overcome these
problems, a new intelligent travel aid device has been developed.
• The designed prototype, i-SPEC, imitates the spectacle used by the VIPs. It is the future of
vision that is filled with smart sensors to detect obstacles by applying the non-contact
approach. Finally, the i-SPEC can improve the mobility of the VIPs and increase their quality
of life.
VALUE PROPOSITION
• The developed intelligent wearable device can be used to detect the obstacles that exist at
the head level of the VIPs. The Intelligent Spectacle (i-SPEC) is e quipped with 2 pieces
of time of flight sensors which can detect the obstacles at 4 different directions such as top,
down, left and right.
• This device will warn the visually impaired users of any obstacles by giving an a udio
information on the location of the obstacle and guide them along the way. The sensors can
also detect the obstacle at a wide range which is 150 degrees from the front. The detection
range is from 1.5 metre for each sensor. This is a non-contact method which does not
require the users to touch the object in order for them to detect the different obstacles with
the white cane.
• The spectacle is designed to be very light and easy to wear. The battery is easily
rechargeable by USB docking.
• There are different types of warnings. There is a light for the partially blind. As for the fully blind
and deaf blind, there is audio and vibration by using the bone conduction speaker. By using the
bone conduction speaker, the user can hear the surrounding environment without putting the
headphone into the ear.

SMART METER :
CONSUMER BEHAVIOURAL STUDY

INTRODUCTION TO THE INNOVATION
• Malaysia is one of the earliest adopters of the smart meter when TNB first rolled out smart
meter installation beginning in 2014. Today, more than 1.2 million TNB smart meters have
been installed covering Melaka, Klang Valley, Putrajaya and Shah Alam. The first state tested
for pilot installation is in Melaka and by now has achieved more than 300,000 installations for
residential customers. In 2014, a consumer acceptance and satisfaction study was conducted
on TNB smart meter deployment. However, since the first rollout, a study of consumer
behavioral change has yet to be conducted after the installation.
• Through the advanced metering system in line with the global demand-side management
objectives, the demand response program towards residential consumers will play an
essential role in reducing peak demand and sustaining the electricity supply. Supporting the
price-based program such as time of use tariff or other initiatives requires immediate
response and action to be taken in preparing electricity consumers with the necessary
knowledge on optimal load management. This also ensures the consumers are ready for
varying price signals by TNB in the future.
VALUE PROPOSITION
• Benchmark consumer behavioral change based on developed matrix for future referral.
• Gain insight on perception, experience and usage of Smart Meter features for existing Smart
Meter consumers and expectation of future Smart Meter features.
• Estimation of consumer readiness level of electricity bill saving initiatives through TOU tariff

• Stretchable conductive inks (SCI) have received an increasing demand due to their great
flexibility and expendability while maintaining conductivity at high levels. Stringent
performances such as electrical and thermal conductivity require the fillers in SCI to be
shifted from metallic to nanocarbon-based materials (graphene and CNT) due to their
remarkable characteristics.
• Graphene based electrical conducting polymer composite as a flexible circuit can fill in the
demand that is not possible using conventional rigid PCB in many applications such as
flexible displays.

recommendation such as soil fertility, soil physical, crop growth analysis, soil erosion, etc. for
farmers.

iFarMS is a soil and crop monitoring system with IoT. This system consists of a smart sensor
system with controller and the IoT platform to give the information of nutrient, water, light and
temperature in real time and on demand.

This wireless system can monitor a big amount of data at the same time, generate the data
fusion and aid decision making by farm owners and farm management. The data will be
recorded automatically and the historical data can be viewed in the future.

cooperative companies engaged in agriculture, sole proprietorships and multinational compa-

INTRODUCTION TO THE INNOVATION
Precision Agriculture Recommender System (PARS) is a system that can predict paddy yield and
provide actionable information to users for improving the yield.
VALUE PROPOSITION
PARS can be used for predicting yield and recommending actions for farmers to improve yield
by approximately 8-25% and in the long term will enable the paddy production to meet national
consumption.
TARGET MARKET
PARS is developed by UTeM with Anjung Technology Sdn Bhd as the collaborating partner. The
main revenue stream for the products come from sale, service, consultation, and training. The
potential markets are managers and farmers at the Integrated Agriculture Development Author-
ity (IADA) that are located at 14 locations throughout Malaysia.
