Transformer is one of the most important and expensive equipment used in the electrical power network. The failure
of transformers can cause failure of power supply and cause in loss of revenue both to the electricity company and to
society. Therefore, reliability of transformer is of utmost importance within the operations of electric power utility. This
is in line with Electricity Regulation 1994 (Reg. 110) which requires this power equipment to be checked and tested
at least once in every five years. Thus, this research team is established to support the facilities and maintenance
industry for monitoring the condition of power transformer through testing, diagnostics, training, and consultancy.

INTRODUCTION TO THE INNOVATION
The conventional method for building quality assessment is by using a human inspector equipped with assessment
tools (such as tapping rod, laser leveler) for assessing the quality of either internal or external works of a building. Since
the quality assessment involves seven (7) different areas of assessment for internal works, an Artificial Intelligence-
based method is applied to assess three (3) areas of assessment for internal works, namely ceilings, walls and floors.
A custom-designed mobile robot with cameras and sensors is used for data acquisition and processing of internal
works quality assessment. On the other hand, assessment of external works is implemented using drone technology
to acquire images of the roof and gutter.
POTENTIAL APPLICATION
AI Technology can be applied in building assessment and inspection of residential and commercial buildings available
in the country as it will speed up the data collection of building assessment by performing some of the internal and
external works evaluation. Most of the evaluation is visual for external works and a mixture of visual and sensor-based
evaluation for internal works. Construction-related contractors will benefit from this AI assisted quality assessment
because the data will be readily available as proof of the given assessment.
This technology is also viable to be implemented in the inspection and monitoring of telecommunication towers,
bridges, flyovers, high-rise buildings, residential areas surveillance, etc.

Based on the studies conducted, there are not fewer than 10 variants of the gun mounting platform being used across
Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM – Army, Navy and Air Force), Polis Di Raja Malaysia (PDRM), Agensi Penguatkuasa
Maritim Malaysia (APMM) for M2 Browning Heavy Machine Gun (M2 HMG) and Mark 19 Automatic Grenade Launcher
(Mk 19 AGL) which sourced from different international manufacturers. Our security and defence authorities need to
purchase separate gun mounting platforms for both M2 HMG and Mk 19 AGL guns which cost at least RM12,000 each
from Spain for VAMTAC and around RM23,000 from Australia for GK Mk 1 due to different gun manufacturers.
This project is part of a research collaboration effort between Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), 10 Briged
PARA, Kem Terendak, Kor Jurutera Letrik & Jentera Di Raja (KJLJ) and Global Komited Sdn Bhd aims to combine M2
Browning Heavy Machine Gun (HMG) and Mark 19 Automatic Grenade Launcher (Mk 19 AGL) gun mounting platforms
into only one. This project optimises the use of digital manufacturing technologies obtaining a digital copy of the
original gun mounting platforms using non-contact reverse engineering (RE) system, analyse and optimize the design
to reduce unnecessary weight without jeopardizing the strength of the structure before producing it using advanced
manufacturing technology.

INTRODUCTION TO THE INNOVATION
This type of dryer produces hot air at low relative humidity and medium temperature. Drying is achieved through a
solar collector and dehumidification process. The solar-assisted dehumidification system consists of flat plate solar
collectors, a desiccant dryer system, a heat pump, and a drying chamber. A heat pump was installed for continuous
operation during cloudy day or low irradiation. Some of the exhaust air, which is humid and hot, will be recycled back
to the drying chamber. The high exit temperature of the air is helpful in drying; however, the humid air is not suitable
for drying. Therefore, the recycled air needs to be dehumidified through desiccant material. The saturated desiccant
material will be replaced with another set that was regenerated by low-cost energy such as solar energy or heat waste

INTRODUCTION TO THE INNOVATION
Disposal of waste cooking oil (WCO) and plastic waste creates an environmental impact on the ecological systems
such as water pollution and air pollution. Due to lack of awareness among society, for instance, WCO was dumped into
the drains that lead to the pipes and have caused problems at the wastewater areas. Hence, to solve these issues, a
development of WCO-based materials products was produced, which are Organic Plastic Alternatives (OPA), Waste
Cooking Oil-based Plasticizer (WCOP), and Soap Waste Cooking Oil Based (SWOB). However, it is necessary to
purify UCO before being used as a raw material for biomaterial products. Waste Cooking Oil Smart Filtration Box
(WCO-FB) and Activated Carbon from Fruit Peel are innovated for the WCO purification procINeDsUsS.TRY PARTNERS

in the OPA making process where; firstly, the filtration process of WCOIndcuostnryti.nued with cleaning and odour treatment
of WCO using ginger, colouring process, and the last one is crystallization process. During the crystallization process,
two different organic hardeners were used, which are beeswax and palm wax. These two hardeners allow the mixture
to be solidified into the desired mould. WCO, beeswax, and palm wax are all ideal choices for OPA production since

Historical cities like Melaka Bandaraya Bersejarah are facing intensified urbanisation because of rapid population
growth and economic development. Its historical artefacts are evidence of the city past records, which are precious
leftovers from the old times. With time elapsing, many of Melaka’s historical artefacts, such as Malay weapons, are
being damaged every day due to significant causes that lead to their destruction, such as biodeterioration and burglary.
This project is part of a research collaboration effort between Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) and
Perbadanan Muzium Melaka (PERZIM) to digitally preserve and reproduce the iconic Melaka historical artefacts –
Sundang Raja Muhamad. This project optimises digital manufacturing technologies in preserving the history and
heritage of Malaysia by obtaining a digital copy of the original artefact using non-contact reverse engineering (RE)
system and reproducing it using additive manufacturing (AM) technology.
POTENTIAL APPLICATION INDUSTRY PARTNER
The project explores the application of digital manufacturing Perbadanan Muzium Melaka (PERZIM)
technologies in a new field related to Melaka’s arts and heritage, where
the results benefit both academic and archaeology. Expertise is needed
to optimise RE and AM technology and its process chain to provide
solutions to the historical artefact’s preservation for PERZIM.
The reproduction of Sundang Sultan Muhamad indicates that the
developed process provides the foundation and impetus for future
work in the digital reproduction of highly valuable Melaka’s historical
components using 3D scanning and 3D printing. This will also simplify
complicated preservation and reproduction processes and reduce
reliance upon lengthy, repetitive, and tedious manual work, particularly
on fine and intricate artefacts such as Sundang Raja Muhamad.
