4 Abstract/Product Description (with image if available)
Re-Volt 8.0 is a product of multilevel inverter (MLI) for low harmonic distortion
and low cost MLI. Due to increasing usage of inverters in solar application, it is
significant to reduce the development cost of MLI and at the same time can
produce low harmonics distortion at the output inverter. This product reduces the
number of switching inverters on typically reverse voltage topology of MLI from
12 to 8 switches.

Novelty & Inventiveness:
• Reduce 33% switching components
• Simple, light, easy to maintain and economical
• Total harmonic distortion current is complies with IEEE 519

The demand of large bandwidth has pushed the wireless backbone into the mm-
wave frequency range. A compact wireless terminal has been suggested at 26
GHz over the decade. A small and high gain antenna has been introduced because
of the scenic point of view and for the environment. Next generation Fixed Wireless

detecting the dielectric properties in materials (solid/ liquid). These sensors are suitable for

various industry applications such as food industry/ halal-hub, quality control, medicine &

pharmaceutical. It is believed that this technique would lead for a promising solution of

characterizing material particularly in determining material properties and quality.

Novelty & Inventiveness:
• Optimum topology of planar resonator for materials characterization from microwave sensors.
• Extracting the formula for permittivity to characterize and determine the properties of materials.
• Proof of concept (POC) where designs can be customized for desired frequencies and applications.

Significant Contributions:
• Introducing a novel design of high-Q microwave resonator structure of material classification with capability to suppress
the undesired harmonic spurious.
• Characterizing and determining the properties of the materials based on the novel resonator structure which can be
used as a sensor.

Commercialization Potential 13
• Collaboration with local and international food and medical industries
• Research and Development activities such as food processing, quality control, bio-sensing and pharmacy.

Sistem Penilaian Kebolehbacaan Bahasa Melayu or SPIKE is unique and proves
that not all Malay texts are equal in nature. In fact, the Malay articles we read can
be categorised according to the reader's age level. SPIKE is made accessible
online for readers to obtain the score of online/offline Malay reading materials. It
is designed to crawl the sampled text for Malay words and break them into
syllables. It can also detect the formation of Malay words and calculate the
presence of Malay difficult words such as Kata Ganda, Kata Pinjaman,

and vacuum system are both different technologies for different purposes.

Interestingly this project has apply these technology to integrated and perform

well with fused deposition modeling to address the issue of insufficient strength

and poor surface finish of 3D printed parts .

Ultrasonic works by producing a mechanical vibration which excites the molten
thermoplastic molecule and will produce a rise in temperature. Vacuum on the
other hand reduces heat loss by restricting convection of air. Thus project has
proved that the vacuum system was able to improve layer bonding, reduce
stress and part distortions thus improve the strenght of the parts’ produced.
Conversely, ultrasonic system has been tested to reduce the stair case effect
thus improve the surface finish of the parts. Improvement on the surface finish
was 14% while vacuum system improves part strength by 22%. Figure 1 shows

In FDM, plastic filament becomes semi-molten through filament heating and later the

filament is extruded through the nozzle to form layers based on the slice geometry from

the CAD data. Most of the open source 3D printer utilizes FDM systems for the printing

processes due to the affordable price, ease of handling and user-friendly. However, the

strength of the 3D printed components manufactured from the open source 3D printer is

less superior compared to the commercial 3D Printer. Therefore, the new open source

hybrid 3D printer is introduced in order to improve the mechanical properties of the 3D

printed part. The result of tensile strength, porosity percentage and surface roughness

indicates significant effects when the hybrid process is used with the same parameters.

Novelty & Inventiveness:
• Integration of both mechanism of extruded molten plastic and mechanical pressing during the 3D printing process. The
innovation allows the deposited material to be compressed along the process of the printing.
• Integrated and automated pressing system. The innovation enables the pressing mechanism operates automatically
during the printing process.
• Suitable for any types of open source 3D printer with simple modification.
Commercialization Potential
• Can be used as a tool to transfer ideas for personal use
• Component fabricator in small-medium industry
• Education tools at school and university.
• Can be a competitor to commercial 3D printer due to comparable strength.

Technology Description

3 CPoe-rRipehseeraarlcmheilrlsing of very flexible components with a large span ratio of height to thickness such as monolithic component is
a common manufacturing process in the aerospace industries. In such cases, the wall thickness of the part is further reduced

and reconstructing bone fractures is done by drilling the bone, fixing and re-attaching the
separate parts together using screws, wires and plates. Such procedure is usually
performed manually with a hand-held surgical tool. Hitherto, the rate of success of these
surgeries varies significantly and often highly dependent on the surgeons’ skills. Tool
designers have always neglected this important factor in their designs. Common
scenarios of imprecise manipulations or deviations from normal drill axis can cause the
drill skidding across the bone surface. These maladjustments affect the hole accuracy,
which then lead to a localized temperature rise resulting a thermal necrosis on the soft
tissues surrounding the hole region. Many different surgical drill-bit designs and
geometries have been proposed over the years, each with its own claim of success.

Novelty/Inventiveness
• The developed product aim to solve the discrepancies with the current techniques in machining thin wall low rigidity part
by using a simultaneous twin cutter machining technique to control the wall deflection. A twin cutter adapter consists
of a set of gear arrangement design for transmitting the rotation of the machine spindle has been developed that suit
with the normal CNC machine spindle. A set of experimental work was performs to evaluate on the effectiveness of the
propose technique. From the conducted experimental work, the results indicated that the deflection of the thin wall part
can be neglected and hence minimize the surface errors since the same cutting forces acts on both opposite sides of
the wall surface. In addition, the proposed product able to increase the component accuracy and reduce the machining
time up to 50 percent as the wall structure are machined with one single pass compare with the current machining

technique.

Commercialization Potential
• Aerospace manufacturing industries and precision manufacturing industries.
