Form 1S

Mexico (Spanish: México [mexiko] is a

country in the southern portion of North
America. It is bordered to the north by the
United States; to the south and west by the
Pacific Ocean; to the southeast by Guatemala,
Belize, and the Caribbean Sea; and to the east
by the Gulf of Mexico.

Mexico covers 1,972,550 square kilometers (761,610
square miles) making it the world's 13th-largest country
by area; with approximately 126,014,024 inhabitants. It
is the 10th-most-populous country and has the most
Spanish-speakers.

San Miguel de Allende

Mexico is organized as a federation comprising 31 states and
Mexico City, its capital and largest metropolis. Other major
urban areas include Guadalajara, Monterrey, Puebla, Toluca,
Tijuana, Ciudad Juárez, and León.

La Capital

The Capital of Mexico is Mexico City

Mexico City (Ciudad de Mexico in Spanish) is the capital city of
Mexico and one of the most important political, cultural,
educational and financial centres in North America.
CDMX is now the acronym for Mexico City, which stands for
Ciudad de Mexico (Mexico City.) The name is already known
worldwide, but has caused confusion among residents who
love and know Mexico City as D.F.

La Bandera

The flag of Mexico (Spanish: Bandera de México) is a

vertical tricolor of green, white, and red with the
national coat of arms charged in the center of the white
stripe.

While the meaning of the colors has changed over time, these
three colors were adopted by Mexico following independence
from Spain during the country's War of Independence, and
subsequent First Mexican Empire. The form of the coat of arms
was most recently revised in 1968, but the overall design has
been used since 1821, when the First National Flag was created.

Throughout history, the flag has changed several times, as the
design of the coat of arms and the length-width ratios of the
flag have been modified. However, the coat of arms has had
the same features throughout: an eagle, holding a serpent in
its talon, is perched on top of a prickly pear cactus; the cactus
is situated on a rock that rises above a lake.

El Clima

In Mexico, there are two main seasons.

Although there is some variation in temperature over the year,
the most obvious difference is between rainy and dry seasons.

The rainy season through most of Mexico falls roughly from
May through September or October. During the rest of the
year, there is little or no rain. Don't be discouraged from
visiting during the rainy season, it typically only rains in the
late afternoon or evening and you'll see the lush, green
landscape, as opposed to the dry season's parched, brown
landscape.

Los Sitios Turístos

Cancún, is a Mexican city on the Yucatán
Peninsula bordering the Caribbean Sea.

It is known for its beaches, numerous resorts and
nightlife. It’s composed of 2 distinct areas: the more
traditional downtown area, El Centro, and Zona
Hotelera, a long, beachfront strip of high-rise hotels,
nightclubs, shops and restaurants.

Cancun is also a famed destination for students during
universities’ spring break period.

Puerto Vallarta is a resort town on
Mexico’s Pacific coast, in Jalisco state.

It is known for its beaches, water sports and nightlife
scene. Its cobblestone center is home to the ornate
Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe church, boutique shops
and a range of restaurants and bars.

El Malecón is a beachside promenade with
contemporary sculptures, as well as bars, lounges and
nightclubs.

La Naturaleza

The Arch of Cabo San Lucas

The arch of Cabo San Lucas, is a distinctive rock formation at
the southern tip of Cabo San Lucas, which is itself the extreme
southern end of Mexico's Baja California Peninsula. The arch is
locally known as "El Arco," which means "the arch" in Spanish,
or "Land's End."

In September 2014, Hurricane Odile first made landfall right
where the Arch is located and the heavy storm surge caused a
drastic change in the site's ecosystem, removing tons of sand,
causing collapses in the structure and wiping the flora and
fauna from the zone.

Volcán Tacaná

Tacana is the second highest peak in Central America
and sits on the border of Mexico and Guatemala. It is
also known as the Soconusco Volcano in some regions of
Mexico. From the summit you can see all the highest
volcanoes in Guatemala and many others in Mexico. It is
also possible to see the Pacific Ocean.

Tacana is considered to be an active volcano, and has a
crater on of Mexican side, with some fumes. It was last
active between January 1986 and February 1988.

The volcano can be climbed from either Guatemala or
Mexico. The Guatemala side of the volcano is a shorter
climb, but the trailhead is harder to reach and is a very
long bus ride into a very remote part of the country. The
Mexican side of Tacana is much easier to get to as its
near some larger towns, but it is a longer hike from that
side and usually takes two days, sometimes more.
