Ms Gcobisa Mahlulo

Mizamiyanda

Gcobisa Mahlulo is the co-founder of
Mizamiyanda which is a family run business
registered in 2015. This business among other
things is involved in the manufacturing of jewellery
necklaces. We call our final pieces “JEWELLERY
WITH A PURPOSE”., says Ms Mahlulo.

Necklaces are made from different products and in many instances,
not all are made from recycled/reused material. Some have rare South African coins which
are attached to the product and these coins tell a story about South Africa’s beautiful history.
The beauty about these products is that, the coins’ value escalates after some time and the
owner of this product can detach the coins from the necklace piece if they so wish. They can
then sell the coin to recover the cost of the necklace. This business model encourages
people who purchase the necklaces to save some value whilst using the necklace as a
fashion accessory.

Most important though, the necklaces are unique, fashionable and are handmade. Various
other materials like, wood, beads, metals-silver/gold, cloths, pearls, marble, wood, leather,
stones are also used in the production process. Designing their products from scratch,
company’s product range extends to include earrings, pendants, broches, cufflinks,
bracelets and rings.
