หลกั การใช้ Pronoun
1. Subject Pronoun: ใชแ้ ทนคาํ นาม ในตาํ แหน่ง Subject (ประธาน) ของประโยค เช่น
He is not certain whether to invest in the property market.
I invited him to the meeting, but he declined.
2. Object Pronouns: ใชแ้ ทนคาํ นาม ในตาํ แหน่ง Object (กรรม) ของประโยค เช่น
The company invited me to join the management team.
We really appreciate all the help you gave us last weekend.
3. Possessive Adjectives: จริงๆ ถือเป็น Adjective เพราะนาํ หนา้ คาํ นาม แต่เป็นการผนั
ตาม Pronoun ที่เป็นเจา้ ของคาํ นามน้นั ๆ กเ็ ลยรวมไวใ้ นเร่ืองเดียวกนั เลย เช่น
Customs stopped us and checked our bags for alcohol and cigarettes.
She thanked the staff for their dedication and enthusiasm.
4. Possessive Pronouns: ใชแ้ สดงความเป็นเจา้ ของ แต่ไม่วางหนา้ คาํ นาม เพราะจะใชร้ วบ
แทนคาํ นามไปเลย เช่น
Yours is the room on the top floor, on the left. (yours = your room)

Nicky and I both have red hair but hers is lighter than mine. (hers =
her hair, mine = my hair)
5. Reflexive Pronouns: มกั จะใชใ้ นตาํ แหน่ง Object ในกรณีท่ี Object น้นั ๆ เป็นสิ่ง
เดียวกบั Subject ของประโยค เช่น

• It was so noisy that we couldn't hear ourselves speak.
หรือใชเ้ พื่อบอกวา่ กระทาํ “ดว้ ยตวั เอง” คนเดียว ไม่มีใครช่วย โดยใชต้ ามหลงั by เช่น

• I prepared the whole meal by myself.
หรือใชเ้ นน้ ความหมายถึงคน หรือสิ่งที่เรากาํ ลงั พดู ถึงในประโยค เช่น

• The director of the company wrote to us himself to apologize for the
dreadful service.

The Fox without a Tail

It so happened that a Fox caught its tail in a trap, and in struggling to
release himself lost all of it but the stump. At first he was ashamed to
show himself among his fellow foxes. But at last he determined to put
a bolder face upon his misfortune, and summoned all the foxes to a
general meeting to consider a proposal which he had to place before
them. When they had assembled together the Fox proposed that they
should all do away with their tails. He pointed out how inconvenient a
tail was when they were pursued by their enemies, the dogs; how
much it was in the way when they desired to sit down and hold a
friendly conversation with one another. His friends failed to see
any advantage in carrying about such a useless encumbrance. That is
all very well, said one of the older foxes; but I do not think you would
have recommended us to dispense with our chief ornament if you had
not happened to lose it yourself.

สิ่งที่เกะกะ และเสียเปรียบเมื่อถกู พวกศตั รู เช่นเวลาถกู สุนขั ตามล่า หรือและเกะกะเวลาเรานงั่ คุยกบั ใครมนั
ลม้ เหลวกบั การชกั จูงสุนขั จิ้งจอกตวั อ่ืนใหเ้ ห็นถึงขอ้ ดีของการไม่มีหางมนั ลม้ เหลวกบั การชกั จูงสุนขั จิ้งจอก
