• An asteroid is a chunk of rock and

metal in outer space that is in orbit
around the Sun.
• The asteroid belt is located between
the planets Mars and Jupiter.

• A meteoroid is a chunk of rock or
metal from space that falls
through the atmosphere, or layer
of gases, surrounding Earth.

• Most meteoroids burn up in the
