The mission of IHAT Program is to provide a noissiM ruO
quality education to non-native speakers of
English and Chinese with a variety of language
courses, activities and events, which can help
them eliminate the linguistic barriers in achieving
their academic, and personal goals. Students who
complete the IHAT Program gain linguistic and
cultural knowledge necessary to advance to the
mainstream courses in their major and/or to
secure employment both local and international
workplaces.

The Academic Excellence goal of the IHAT Program is to laoG ruO
create curriculum and instructional materials that help
students:

-Acquire linguistic and cultural knowledge related to academic
settings
-Expand academic vocabulary
-Develop confidence in speaking/listening and reading/writing,
including formal and informal registers
-Learn to monitor and self-correct their linguistic output
-Develop fluency in the use of higher-level grammatical
structures.
-Learn to “think” in the target language, i.e. to learn to use the
language without heavily relying on their first language.
-Acquire phonological and phonetic knowledge of the sound
system of English/Chinese.

The Student Success and laoG ruO
Enrollment Management
goal is to:

-Provide a variety of IHAT courses at multiple levels to
include non-native speakers from level/ groups with or
without prior educational and professional experience.
-Help students succeed by facilitating Conversation in
speaking/listening and reading/writing as well as by
providing professional Teachers who work one-on-one
with IHAT students.
-Assess all IHAT student's abilities in the core linguistic
skills of speaking/listening and reading/writing.

The Partnership goal is to: laoG ruO

Collaborate with International Exchange Program to share best
practices in pedagogy and expertise in the operational management
of International Hospitality and Tourism program with a particular
focus on languages. Establish partnerships with the international
colleges, the local schools and agencies that serve IHAT students to
expand and utilize their knowledge and actual profession skills in
the international or local establishments.
-Students will travel to the country where their language
of study is spoken natively to immerse themselves in the
culture and develop their language skills further.
Students can either work while abroad or continue their studies
at a local university;

Engage IHAT students in volunteerism and in participation
in a wide variety of the College’s student activities and
clubs.

The Stewardship goal is to: laoG ruO

Maximize the use of English and Chinese language lab
across IHAT Program to meet the academic excellence
goals.

What are the learning outcomes of IHAT students after
completing the program?

Speaking about the outcomes that the students will receive after completing the
program are the following:
1. A proficient language skills.
2. Passed the CEFR and HSK test
3. IHAT students will also choose to pursue further education to improve their
fluency with their chosen language or will choose to study or work abroad.
3. Great opportunity of landing in an international job.
