Develop rhythm, strength, and coordination with the fundamentals of ballet movement. Learn the basic ballet positions, jumps, turns, dances, and ballet vocabulary. Students will achieve proper placement and alignment necessary to perform classical ballet. Ballet slippers required. We’re excited to offer recreation classes and activities, summer day camp, aquatics, and events through our Parks After Dark program which will run July 5 – August 5. This year, we are also excited to be welcoming back the public to the much anticipated Egg Bowl, our spring egg hunt at the Rose Bowl Stadium with over 80,000 eggs! We hope to have as many children and families as possible participate in our programming this summer. We will offer six summer camps with amazingly affordable rates. In addition, we have scholarships available for qualifying families. Our aquatics program for young people under the age of 18 is quite affordable and we also offer scholarships. Finally, please consider joining a youth sports team for the entire season of basketball, volleyball and soccer or check out our non-contact boxing program. Tiny Tots Camp is designed to give children, 3 to 5 years of age, a positive and fun introduction to organized play and structured activities. The goal is to provide an enriching, hands-on environment to promote social, emotional, physical, intellectual and creative growth. Weekly themes help emphasize the importance of learning through play. Multi-sport instruction helps tots learn about team play, following rules to achieve a goal, and sportsmanship. SWIM LEVEL PREREQUISITES & COURSE DESCRIPTIONS All courses based on American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Program Level TT - Tiny Tots - (3-4 years old) Class is designed for children with little or no swimming experience, and is geared mainly towards water adjustment while introducing primary swimming skills. Level 1 Introduction to water activities, good habits, and overall water safety. Blow bubbles, bobbing, float, glide and proper arm/ leg actions on front/back and underwater object retrieval. Level 2 Development of proper swimming techniques like front and back crawls. Front/back floats and glides, recover to a vertical position after swimming, treading water, front and back crawl, underwater breath holding and object retrieval, and water safety skills. Level 3 Guided practice of previously attained skills in deeper water. Side breathing with the front crawl, treading water, flutter, scissor, dolphin and breast stroke kicks, elementary backstroke, and headfirst entries into the water, nonswimming assists, and water safety skills. Level 4 Develop knowledge and techniques of all strokes and other aquatic skills including preparation for swim team. Open turns on front and back, treading water, refine front crawl and backstroke, and improve on breast stroke, butterfly and sidestroke, introduction to diving, feet first surface dives, survival swimming, and water safety skills including simple water saving assists. Level 5 Further coordination and refinement of strokes and preparation for the swim team. Continued conditioning and stroke refinement, racing starts to streamline, flipturns, sculling, shallow angled dives, tuck/pike dives, nonswimming assists, and water safety skills. The program provides youth with the opportunity to gain valuable skills by exposing them to various experiences such as being docents, attending conferences, planning events, and being a spokesperson for the program. In addition, Ambassadors are City employees and active members of their community. The 50-minute cardio workout cycles between higher and lower-intensity dance sequences to get you moving, sweating, and motivated all at the same time. At the very core of a BollyX workout is the inspiration it draws from the music and dance of Bollywood, the film industry of India. The community garden aligns with the Department's mission to preserve and improve the physical, social, and economic health of Pasadena neighborhoods by delivering inclusive, innovative, and progressive recreational and community service programs. The garden is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization and a member of the Los Angeles Community Garden Council, which provides administrative support to a large network of community gardens in Los Angeles County.
