The Human Services and Recreation Department joins City of Hope, Huntington Hospital, PALS
for Health, Pacific Clinics, Young and Healthy and San Gabriel Valley Planned Parenthood to host
the annual Better Health, Better Life conference; a Spanish language event on health awareness.
From 12 a.m.-3 p.m., a health fair and community clinic open to the public will include free flu
shots for children and adults, mammograms, blood pressure and blood sugar screenings,
community resource booths, and childcare for children ages 4 to 6.

One of Southern California's largest Black History parades begins at 10:00 a.m. at
Metropolitan Baptist Church (Fair Oaks Ave. & Figueroa Dr.) and ends at Robinson
Park (1081 N. Fair Oaks Ave.). Stay and enjoy the Festival at Robinson Park from 12:00
p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The festival features live bands, dance performances, community
booths, guest speakers, food for purchase and fun! Proudly coordinated by the Black
History Planning Committee, and the City of Pasadena Human Services and Recreation

Infants & TINY TOTS WINTER SESSION
Tiny Tots
This is one of our favorite seasons to celebrate with the tiny
tots! In addition to regular programming, a performing arts
unit includes singing, dancing, recitation, and preparing for
a special performance at the Mayor’s Holiday Tree Lighting
(scheduled for Friday, December 6). Alphabet review
concludes in an alphabet train exercise. Science time focuses
on the seasons, and holiday-themed crafts are always a hit.
Sports instruction includes yoga, dance and basketball. A
highlight of this session is Mini Spirit Week with a different
themed celebration every day of the week like pajama day and
superhero day with themed activities, decorations and crafts.

to provide job experience to high school students through

Senior Center Designed to improve strength, balance and flexibility, this
introductory level class will improve the way you feel about

CONSUMER ACTION SERVICES The Healthy Aging and Wellness Program promotes healthy
aging by providing short-term individualized counseling and
care coordination services that enable seniors (ages 55+) to

ages from youth to senior citizens. Many of our services are offered free of charge or for a nominal fee.

Examples of services provided at the Center include completion of legal packets, civil harassment, unlawful detainer, small claims,
general information and referrals to other social services available, substance abuse counseling and referrals, case management,
blood pressure and blood sugar screening, health insurance counseling and advocacy, annual flu shots and health fairs, nutritional
programs, health related services, emergency utility assistance to low income families, senior advocacy, Social Security/SSI
information and assistance with application forms, and income tax assistance. Recreational and cultural activities include Friday
afternoon movies, Wednesday Hot Meals, a full game room, chair aerobics, a computer lab and many more classes, activities, and
programs.

Villa-Parke Community Center includes a large auditorium with a stage, gymnasium, restrooms, fitness center, boxing gym,
several small conference/meeting rooms, two kitchens, a computer lab and a wide range of classes and recreational activities for
all ages. Activities include a complete aerobics program, self-defense (Ju Jitsu), arts and crafts, seasonal sports leagues, dance
programs including cultural dance classes, a unique summer enrichment day camp and the City's largest youth soccer program.
A large senior room is located on the first floor and offers a wide variety of senior classes and programs. The Center also houses a
library and Head Start Preschool along with Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Center. There is also a weekly Farmer's Market on
Tuesdays and a community garden located on the 2nd floor patio.

In addition to offering recreational programming and classes for all ages, Villa-Parke also offers robust Human Services
programming, including information about referrals for Social Security/SSI and unemployment benefits, housing referrals,
consumer protection services, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) information and application assistance, and
additional programs and services provided by partner public agencies and local community-based organizations.

Open to teens 12 to 18 years old still attending high school, La Pintoresca Teen Education Center (LPTEC) is a place where teens
can be themselves and interact with their peers in a fun, safe and engaging environment. LPTEC offers tutoring by qualified staff,
field trips, gaming competitions, art and crafts classes in partnership with the Armory Center for the Arts and much more! The
Center was designed specifically to engage teens in a meaningful way and includes a state of the art computer lab equipped
with iMacs, free Wi-FI, a ceiling mounted projector and large screen to assist with tutorials and computer classes, a big-screen
television, foosball and ping pong tables, and sports equipment. Programming includes cutting-edge computer and graphic
design classes, strategies for academic success, life-skills development, such as money management and college planning, and
innovative classes.

The LPTEC also provides teens with the opportunity to get involved in community events at La Pintoresca Park. Teens will have
the opportunity to organize outdoor activities and utilize park amenities such as the skateboard park, basketball court with lights,
multi-purpose field, and a small water park (open seasonally from Memorial Day to Labor Day).

Robinson Park Recreation Center is newly renovated and open for business! The state-of-the-art Center features a large

multipurpose room with a retractable partition to divide space into smaller spaces for events and private reservations, a

commercial kitchen, a fitness center with new cardio and strength training equipment, free weights and mirrored walls, a spacious

dance room with wall mounted ballet bars and mirrored walls, a large gymnasium and a cutting-edge audiovisual system.

Robinson Park Recreation Center offers a variety of recreational programming for all ages, interests and abilities. Seasonal

activities and classes include arts and crafts, dance, fitness classes for all ages, yoga, summer day camp, aquatics and youth

sports such as basketball and flag football, and much more.

Indoor areas are available for reservation at www.cityofpasadena.net/reserve. Robinson Park also features a children’s play area,
outdoor basketball courts and a newly resurfaced artificial turf multipurpose field.
