At the Jackie Robinson Community Center, we address community needs with a collaborative and holistic approach.
Most Human Services provided by the City are conducted through this Center. We work with community-based
organizations and agencies that are housed at the Center as well as independent resources to enhance the quality of
life for our clientele and serve people of all ages from youth to senior citizens. Many of our services are offered free of
charge or for a nominal fee.

Examples of services provided at the Center include blood pressure and blood sugar screening, health insurance
counseling and advocacy, annual flu shots and health fairs, general information and referrals to other social services
available, substance abuse counseling and referrals, case management, emergency assistance to low income families,
senior advocacy, Social Security/SSI information and assistance with application forms, income tax assistance and
recreational and cultural activities including Friday afternoon movies, Wednesday Hot Meals, a full game room, chair
aerobics, Zumba Gold, Salsa for Health, a computer lab and many more classes and programs.

The Villa-Parke Community Center includes a large auditorium with stage, a gymnasium, restrooms, a newly renovated
fitness center, boxing gym, several small conference/meeting rooms, two kitchens, a computer lab and a wide range
of classes and recreational activities for all ages. Activities include a complete aerobics program, self-defense (Jujitsu),
arts and crafts, seasonal sports leagues, dance programs including Folklorico and Zumba. A unique summer enrichment
day camp and the City's largest youth soccer program. A large senior room is located on the first floor, and offers a
wide variety of senior classes and programs. The Center also houses a library, and a Head Start Preschool along with a
Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Center. There is also a weekly Farmers Market on Tuesdays and a community garden
located on the 2nd floor patio.

In addition to offering recreational programming and classes for all ages, Villa-Parke also offers a robust Human
Services program, including information about referrals for Social Security/SSI and unemployment benefits, employment
counseling, housing referrals, consumer protection services, healthcare counseling, Temporary Assistance for Needy
Families (TANF) information and application assistance and additional programs and services provided by partner public
agencies and local community-based organizations. Many of the staff are bilingual in English-Spanish

Open to teens 13 to 18 years old still attending high school, the La Pintoresca Teen Education Center (LPTEC) is a place
where teens can be themselves and interact with their peers in a fun, safe and engaging environment.

LPTEC offers tutoring by qualified staff, field trips, movies on Fridays, game competitions, art and crafts classes in
partnership with the Armory Center for the Arts and much more! The Center was designed specifically to engage teens
in a meaningful way and includes a state of the art computer lab equipped with iMacs, desktop PCs, free Wi-Fi, a ceiling
mounted projector and large screen to assist with tutorials and computer classes and sports equipment. Programming
includes cutting-edge computer and graphic design classes, strategies for academic success, life-skills development,
such as money management and college planning, and innovative classes.

The LPTEC also provides teens with the opportunity to get involved in community and special events at La Pintoresca
Park and teens will have the opportunity to organize outdoor activities and utilize park amenities such as the skateboard
park, basketball court with lights, multi-purpose field, and a small water park (open seasonally from Memorial Day to
Labor Day)

ROBINSON PARK

The Robinson Park Recreation Center is closed to the general public and is scheduled to be under construction from
early 2017 through Spring 2018.

Robinson Park staff, including the headquarters of the After School Adventures Program, will be temporarily housed at
the Jackie Robinson Community Center, 1020 N. Fair Oaks Avenue from January 2017 through March 2018. All staff will
retain existing telephone numbers and email addresses. Robinson Park’s main line, (626) 744-7330, will be forwarded
to the Jackie Robinson Community Center. No reductions in programming will occur. All programming will continue at
other locations around the City, and program participants will be notified of new and ongoing recreation, youth sports
and Spring, Summer and Winter Camp opportunities through the Department’s seasonal brochures, monthly newsletters

Victory Park Recreation Center offers a variety of recreational activities and opportunities. The Center features a small
meeting room with a kitchen, social recreational room, all-purpose meeting rooms, a large gymnasium, restrooms and
drinking fountains. Victory Park Recreation Center hosts a variety of recreational programming for all ages including
seasonal camps, dance classes, after school programs, piano classes, self-defense classes, senior fitness classes and
much more.

Park Reservations are coordinated through Victory Park and customers interested in permit for picnic areas, sports
fields, and other park areas can stop by Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Victory Park also features
a children's play area, three softball diamonds with bleachers and lights, one baseball diamond with lights, one multi-
purpose lit field suitable for soccer or flag football, a sand volleyball court, large parking lot, picnic areas, restrooms and
drinking fountains.

Each year, the Pasadena Senior Center (PSC) serves over 10,000 seniors in Pasadena and the San Gabriel Valley with:
• Lifelong Learning - Over 50 classes from Computers, Art and Dance, to Languages, Bridge and Technology.
• The Sy Graff Fitness Center designed for seniors with the ultimate fitness equipment is open 7 days a week.
• Wellness classes include Tai –Chi, Yoga, Pilates, Balance, Strength Training – and more.
• Social Clubs and Support Groups to engage seniors and develop friendships.
• Senior Curriculum, college-level lecture series on the arts,national and international topics.
• Hot Lunches served on-site 5 days/week and Monthly Food Distribution Program + delivery to the homebound.
• Daily Telephone Reassurance Calls to homebound seniors & Transportation Assistance and Taxi Vouchers.
• Monthly Health Screenings for vision, blood pressure, diabetes and balance.
• Senior Games, national senior athletic program with 25 competitive sporting events for adults 50+

LA PINTORESCA PARK

Come out and join many of the afterschool activities designed for school aged children at La Pintoresca Park. The Park
has two grass areas - one is used as a multipurpose field and the other is a shaded small grass area suitable for lounging
outdoors. All sports areas are operated on a drop-in basis and are open to all ages. Sports areas include a basketball court
and skate park.

WASHINGTON PARK

Washington Park is located at the corner of Washington Blvd. and El Molino Ave. The park features newly designed
picnic areas and is ideal for family celebrations, company and special events. Elite outdoor fitness stations surround the
park and are a great circuit training tool. All sports areas, including basketball, handball and tennis courts, are operated
on a drop-in basis and are open to all ages.
The Washington Park Community Garden Club always welcomes new members to join the club.The club is made up of
community leaders, local neighborhood associations, and members of the local ecology and environmental groups.
All sports areas are operated on a drop-in basis and are open to all ages. Sports areas include basketball, handball, and
tennis courts.

Pasadena Recreation & Parks Foundation

The Pasadena Recreation & Parks Foundation, established over 40 years ago, aims to raise awareness and provide
support to the City’s parks and recreation programs.
The Pasadena Recreation and Parks Foundation's mission is to support the City in keeping its open spaces green and usable;
to enhance City's recreation programs including partnering with youth agencies that have similar goals so they enrich the
lives of Pasadena area residents; and to ensure that the parks inspire a vision of a healthy city.
Some of the past contributions of the Foundation include park benches in San Rafael Park, Dodger Night for Pasadena
Youth, Earth Day, and Rose Bowl Aquatics Center Scholarships. The Foundation is a recognized fiscal receiver and accepts
donations / grants to support recreation programs. Applications for scholarships and program assistance are available.

• Fees are not pro-rated for missed classes or late registration.
• If program/camp is full, you will be placed on a wait list. If space becomes available, City staff will contact

you for registration. Please do not attend the program/camp if you are on the wait list, unless you have
been contacted.

REFUND POLICY

The Human Services and Recreation Department's goal is to provide quality recreation classes and
programs. If you are unable to attend a class or program, you can request a refund or transfer to another
class if space is available. The refund request has to be submitted before the first scheduled class meeting,
no refunds are provided after the first day of class. A 20% administration fee will be charged for every class/
program refund.

PRIVACY

Your name, mailing address, e-mail address and telephone number are being requested for the specific
and limited purpose of facilitating communications from the HS&RD related to your registration for
promotions and to inform you of upcoming events. The information is accessible only by the HS&RD staff
and may be utilized by class coordinators and instructors for program purpose only.

The City of Pasadena Human Services and Recreation Department (HS&RD) provides services for people
