Choosing the Right
Bathroom Taps to
Match Your Suite

Taps can either make or break a bathroom design. It is not just an essential
element of any bathroom in terms of functionality but also visually. One of
the top bathroom brands- Artize offer innovative and luxury bathroom
fittings, shower, faucets, wash basin and accessories. Making the sheer choice
seems mindboggling, so here’s how to avoid common pitfalls and ensure that
you bring home the best.

1. The function - consider first the type of fixture you have before selecting
one. Do think how you intend to use it, do you want something to be wall
mounted or will they stick out too far in the shower or do they require a tall
tap above the basin?

2. Checking tap holes - the number of tap holes on the basin, bath or bidet
dictates what type of tap is required. Most bathroom sinks have either 1 for a
mono mixer tap, 2 for a separate hot and cold pillar taps or 3 for hot, cold
and a separate water spot pre-drilled tap holes. The bathtubs do not tap
holes; the installer simply needs to drills the holes required for your choice of
taps. While the bidets usually have a single tap hole.

3. Knowledge of water pressure - choose the ones that are appropriate for
water pressure. Going by the general rule, single-lever mixers, wall mounted
and floor standing taps require high water pressure to function effectively;
while pillar taps and two handles require low pressure taps.

4. The material - if you want a
tap that lasts for a lifetime, look
out for several aspects that
indicate a superior standard of
construction like- taps with
ceramic discs are resilient to
wear and tear and are more
hardwearing. Moreover, almost
all ceramic disc taps need a ¾
turn to go from On to off,
making them easier to use.
While the solid brass ones are
extremely resistant to corrosion.

5. Select the style - the style of the tap can up the overall look and can become
the focal point too. To add new life to your existing bathroom suite, get rid of
your old tired taps. Look out for a design that complement the space visually
and does not appear mismatched. Contemporary taps with geometric styling,
clean lines and minimalist designs come with unique features like touch
sensitive operation and waterfall spouts. The traditional design on the other
hand, has classic features like Edwardian-style ceramic inserts, exquisite
detailing and cross head handles. They evoke a timeless elegance that never
fades away with time.

6. That perfect finish - it is one important factor that defines the overall
bathroom design as well as practicality. Nickel finish taps are increasingly
getting popular. This pricey, high class finish combines durability and strength
and has a lustrous light gun metal look. Gold taps have never really aged and
are first choice in period style bathrooms. Previously it got peeled off and
tarnished, but the chrome-gold is more robust as it has been dipped and not
plated-on. The chrome plated taps do not scratch or corrode easily and have a
modern, reflective and shiny finish which makes it easy to clean.
