Event One - The Bedford - 25th Feb

Glorious sunshine, course in amazing condition and a full field of 81 players…we should probably also
mention the sub-zero conditions!
This obviously made things very difficult, but the players put on an amazing display, which made for a
fiercely competitive event, resulting in multiple tied results.

The 6&Under division saw joint winners, as Sebastian Duffield and Dylan Barney carded matching 44s.
We also have to give a special mention to Marcus Karim, who at just 4 years old, made his BJGT debut!

The result was similar in the 7-8 division, as Michael Haywood and Jack Meakin (another BJGT
debutant) tied at the top, with matching 38s, with Matthew Whitaker taking 3rd place on 43.

The 9-10 age group win was claimed by Ronnie Groves with a fine 38, 2 shots ahead of Billy Wood, who, in
turn, was 3 shots in front of Henry Price in 3rd spot.

Our new 11-13 Division, which is proving to be hugely popular, and as it turns out very competitive, was
headed by Jack Lee, the second player to claim a win on his first outing, with Connor Tallentire and
Christian Wall finishing tied in 2nd place following a pair of 82s.

The Mixed Division saw Luca Thompson take the top spot in the Girls Gross Competition, with an 87, while
Erin Earl claimed first in the Girls Net Competition with a 70.

Meanwhile, the Boys Gross Competition saw yet another tie, as Seb Cave and Jake Sheridan couldn’t be
separated after excellent 77s, with Manato Nakatani in 3rd, 2 shots back.

The Boys Net Competition, due to players only winning one trophy on the day, was taken by Jake Plumb
after posting a 72, with Tom Milton just 1 shot further back to take the runner-up trophy.

Many congratulations to all those who played, you are the reason that we are
growing the game!

“I really enjoyed my time playing on the
British Junior Golf Tour. It gave me a real
feel for competitive golf and I would
recommend any young golfer join the
Tour.

There is no doubt my
experience with BJGT
has helped me along the
way and I look back with
great memories playing
on this Tour!”

Event Two - Edgbaston GC - 25th March

Sunshine, Sunshine, Sunshine!!

Our first trip to Edgbaston GC and we will
certainly be going back, the club were perfect
hosts for the BJGT: amazing clubhouse, brilliant
but tough golf course in superb condition, and
they even organised warmer weather!
After a horrid few weeks weather-wise, this was
more like it and it certainly gave the players the
opportunity to display all the hard work done over
the winter.

Round of the day came from Satria Cumming,
who fired a Gross 70 in the mixed division ahead
of George Johnson and Edward Keech, with
Grace Rigby-Walden claiming the best gross
trophy for the girls.

With Satria taking the Gross prize, Jaxson Perry
took the top Net prize home on his first Tour
outing of 2018, with a fine 69, ahead of Zac
Tilling a shot further back.

Peter Pan carded a hugely impressive round of 72 to head the
11-13 Division from Jack Lee (76), who continued his good
start to the
season, and
James Ilsley (77)
in third. Jessica
Pilgrim took the
girls top spot by a
single shot from
Lily-Rose Hunt.

Billy Wood headed the field by the closest of
margins in the 9-10 Division with his 44, a
single shot better than joint runners-up
Ronnie Groves and Luca Randall, while
Estelle Berbner took the girls Winner trophy
after a 49.

Ellis Kerr and Hayden Sarfo needed a
countback to decide first and second in the 7-8
Division after a fabulous head-to-head, both
carding matching 43’s, with Ellis grabbing top
spot.

Dylan Barney and Sebastian Duffield again topped the 6 & Under
Division, this time with one shot between them, with Dylan’s 40
good enough to take the win from Sebastian’s 41.

Yet another event with nail-biting finishes in multiple
divisions, showing just how close and competitive the
BJGT Order of Merit tables are going to be this year!

Taking junior golf to football fans!

Project 11 have come on board as our headline sponsor for 2018
and they are already making a huge difference.
They are a sports marketing company who, among other things,
display the adverts around the pitch at four premiership football
grounds, plus Championship and European clubs.
The BJGT has already been featured at a number of matches,
including Leicester City and Fulham.
We love this added exposure, so make sure that you tweet us
whenever you see the adverts during a game!

On occasion, players pull out of an event, so we always recommend checking your tee times the
evening before an event, and before you travel on the day, as more often than not, these change
a little. You can check tee times, the results from the day, and the 2018 Order of Merit table, all in
the Tour Info menu on our website. We also post the latest news on our social media accounts.

Event Three - Welwyn Garden City GC - 30th March

A war of attrition at Welwyn Garden City GC on Good Friday…

This is the only way that we can describe the truly testing conditions in the afternoon, with
relentless rain falling from lunchtime, coupled with freezing temperatures, which made it a real
battle to get round.

The welcome, assistance and
attention from the club, however,
was a very different story, as
David (Manager) and John
(Captain) couldn’t have been
more helpful both in the
clubhouse and walking the course
chatting to the players.

Let’s start with our youngest division (6 & The 7-8 Division was no less impressive or
Under), who had the worst of the conditions
competitive, with Michael Haywood firing
from start to finish, as Sebastian Duffield
a superb 43 in the top spot, two shots ahead
carded a remarkable 46 to reverse the result of Ellis Kerr and tour newcomer Fraser
from Edgbaston GC last week, taking the win Walters, with matching 45s.
from Dylan Barney in second, with Sully
Donald securing another 3rd place trophy.

Roisin Scanlon showed the boys how it’s

done, taking not only the girls title, but also

shooting the best of the day overall in the 9-10 category following her 44, from Lila-Belle Nacca in
2nd with 52.

Billy Wood edged out Henry Price on countback for the boys, as they both finished on 45, with Ben

Sessions and Ronnie Groves tied on 46 in 3rd. This division continues to be hotly contested after 3
events.

Jack Lee continued his dominance in the

11-13s with another fine display, as his 78 was
good enough to take maximum points once
again from Henry Meadows in 2nd with 86.

Sunny Wang took home the top girls trophy

after a 91 from Jessica Pilgrim in 2nd with 97.

Lewis Beeden and Ed Keech took full advantage of being first out in the
Mixed ivision, having the best of the conditions and were safely in the
clubhouse by the time the worst of the weather hit.

Lewis fired a fabulous 75 gross to claim the
top spot, with Ed two shots further back after
a 77, as Grace Rigby-Walden secured the
girls win with a fine 85.
In the Net Division, Justin Mackinlay, on his
tour debut, made it back to the clubhouse
with a 72 to take the winner’s trophy ahead
of Jenson Berridge and Nick Curran
following matching 75s.

If you enjoyed playing Welwyn Garden City GC, then why not sign up for their
Junior Open on Thursday 16th August? Entry form is on their website.

Coming Up… Bourn GC - 6th May

If this is going to be your first time playing This event is running in conjunction with the
Bourn GC, you are in for a real challenge. Bourn GC Junior Open for the 18-hole Mixed
Bourn is classed as one of the hardest category and CAGU players in this category will

generally reflect this.
The round starts with a mid-length par 3,
over a stream, with out of bounds to the
left and water hazard running down the
right, so good course management is
required from the very first shot. Many
players have walked off this hole with 6 or
more. There are a few short par 4s mid-
round, where the green is within reach off
the tee, but once again, get these wrong,
and scores will rise!
There are only 27 bunkers around the
course, but water will potentially come
into play on 11 of the holes.

Oak Park GC - 20th May

Set in the picturesque Surrey/Hampshire
countryside, between the town of Farnham
and village of Crondall, Oak Park is a
friendly golf club, with a superb 27-hole Golf
Course, Driving Range and Practice Area, a
fully-stocked Pro Shop and a family-friendly
clubhouse Bar and Restaurant.
The 18-hole, Par-70 Woodland Course,
measures 6065 yards and truly lives up to
its name, featuring tree-lined fairways from
the 1st tee to the 18th green - this will be
the test for the 18-hole divisions.

The 9-hole Village course measures 3218 yards, although obviously shortened, skirts the edge of the
picturesque village of Crondall and will host the 9-hole players.

Cambridge Meridian GC - 3rd June The first of two visits to
Cambridge Meridian this year, the
second being the IMG Academy
Junior World Championships
Qualifier in September.

This fantastic Cambridgeshire
course, crossing the Meridian line
on 7 holes, was co-designed by
Peter Alliss.

With water coming into play on 11
of the holes, you need to carefully
plot your way around.

Starting with a dogleg left over water, into a fast sloping green, par is a good score. The 9-hole players
will be finishing on two challenging holes, 8th and 9,th where position of layup could be a major
influence on the final score.

The older age groups, playing the full course, have good birdie opportunities on holes 10, 11 and 12,
and finish on one of the best finishing holes in East Anglia.

This event is running in conjunction with the Cambridge Meridian GC Junior Open for the 18-
hole Mixed category and CAGU players in this category will be earning CAGU Order of Merit
points.

“A great weekend of golf for us very professionally organised by BJGT starting with a parent/child
Texas scramble on Saturday and then a 9 hole medal for Owen on the Sunday where he finished with a
great 3rd place , I’d highly recommend any budding junior golfers enter one of their competitions as
it’s a great environment that has a competitive side but is also very friendly and welcoming.”

Event Four - Cumberwell Park GC - 21st & 22nd April

Fabulous facilities, superb variety of courses, and a brilliant Par 3 with an awesome signature hole – the
BJGT made the most of them all!

Just like The Masters, it all started with a fun Par 3 comp.
On Saturday afternoon, 16 pairs enjoyed a Texas Scramble on the Par 3 course, where the juniors played
with their parents, with much of the focus being on the island green on hole 8.
Plenty found the water, but this was half the fun and it was indeed a lot of fun for all involved and a great
warm-up for the strokeplay competition.
Team Bygrave (Callum and Steve) tied with Team Randall (Luca and Neil) at the head of the field, as they
both shot 28 (+1), with Team Aldous (Joseph and Iain) matching Team Nacca (Lila-Belle and Franco), to
finish tied 3rd on 29.

Saturday was capped off with an incredible lightening show in the
skies over Cumberwell, which looked amazing until it knocked out
the power to the whole site!

Sunday’s main event saw glorious weather for the players, as they took to the
Red and Orange courses.

An outstanding level par Satria Cumming put in another fine
round of 70 from Jack performance in the Mixed Division, as his

The hugely popular 9-10 Division had the

the outright win by a single stroke.

The Golf College Championship

Our competition at Lindfield GC will be the first 3-day tournament the BJGT has organised and
we have big plans for the event.
We are looking for this to become a major fixture on the junior golf calendar in the UK, then using
new and existing associations, attract juniors from across Europe and eventually the US.
As a 3-day event, we can apply for World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) points next year, which
we hope will bring a quality field in the top age group, and the younger divisions will undoubtedly
continue to attract the best young players!
This is sure to become a flagship event for the BJGT, so we look forward to seeing you at the
start of this exciting journey…
For those of you who cannot join us for the full three days, we offer individual day entry.
Please sign up online in the usual way!
