Wingo Students are Really Spook-tacular!
Sarah Brinkley’s Sixth Grade Reading Classes Enjoyed Fright Week!
Mrs. Brinkley’s class enjoyed reading eerie tales during “Fright Week.” Mrs. Brinkley shares, “Our sixth graders learned about
mood and tone this past week and the power that word choice, imagery, and setting has on a story. We read literary pieces
by Edgar Allan Poe, performed “The Tell-Tale Heart” as a reader’s theater, and enjoyed a much spookier atmosphere than
usual. To help create an even more frightening mood we read some of the tales by flashlight. As an ending to our unit, stu-
dents created an extension to one of our stories. They became the author and used their writing skills to continue to set an
ominous mood in their own pieces.”
