AUTOMOTIVE

2019

SP is a collaboration of Scotland’s colleges and industry partners established to
increase Scotland’s capability and capacity to deliver the right skills for the energy,

Eengineering and construction sectors to meet industry demand.

By working in a cohesive partnership Scotland’s colleges demonstrate a responsiveness
and collective capability to provide the skills required by industry.
Following the publication of a number of key policy documents ESP has been
identified by stakeholders as the key delivery partner to take forward a number
of new priority areas.

As part of our extended remit covering a number of emerging technologies
and based on feedback from industry and our college members an
Automotive Training Network was established.

The network has agreed a number of priorities, including the emerging need for
safe working with electric vehicles, with the aim to ensure Scotland is at the
forefront of skills development in support of the Automotive sector.
This brochure provides an overview of relevant training available through
the network.

With Scottish Government’s focus and incentives
for Electric Vehicles (EVs) there will be a

significant increase in the number of EVs in the
public domain. This will result in increased
demand for maintenance and repair work
from garages.

ESP and Transport Scotland are working in
partnership to support independent garage staff

with training for EVs.

Find out how your local college can
support independent garage staff
through IMI and City & Guild
accredited courses and the use of

Electude lock-out desktop trainers.
