Research on the Rationality of Spatial Layout of Public Toilets in Nanchang City Based on POI Data from the Perspective of Urban Functional area Lei Luo1 , Hui Lin 1 School of Geography and Environment, Jiangxi Normal University, Nanchang 330022, China; Abstract: Public toilets are a common public facility that reflects the level of civilization and management services in a city. Current research often overlooks the accessibility and coverage of public toilets, treating them as mere spatial points without considering discrimination or the diversity of public toilets in different urban functional areas. There is a clear need for a comprehensive and accurate public toilet space evaluation system that takes into account the varying service capabilities of public toilets in different regions. Fortunately, with the availability of multi-source data, there is now a new perspective for studying urban public facilities. This research utilizes the Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) weighting technique and incorporates Point of Interest (POI) data density to identify functional areas within a city. By also integrating OpenStreetMap (OSM) road network density data and WorldPop population data, a population travel vitality index is established to evaluate the quality of public toilet services in Nanchang's urban functional areas. The results show that commercial areas have the highest provision of public toilets, with joint zones such as industrial-commercial and public-commercial also performing well. This approach takes into account the heterogeneity of functional areas and population dynamics, allowing for more precise spatial analysis and providing valuable insights for urban public facility planning.
