Today, we will try
1 ). to identify social function, generic structure and language
feature of descriptive text
(Hari ini kita akan mencoba mengidentifikasi fungsi social,
struktur teks dan unsur kebahasaan teks descriptive)
2). Asking and giving information related to qualities of people,
animals, and thing ( memberi dan meminta informasi terkait
dengan sifat orang, binatang, benda

Descriptive Text

 Social Function / Fungsi social / Tujuan :

To describe people, animals, things, or place

( Untuk menggambarkan orang, binatang, benda atau tempat)

 Generic Structure ( Struktur teks)

 Identification : telling the object that will described ( pengenalan object/

menyebutkan apa yang akan digambarkan

 Description : Information about the characteristics of the object ( People, animals,

things, or place)

( Berisi informasi tentang ciri – ciri benda tersebut ( orang, binatang, benda

atau tempat)

Language Features/ Ciri kebahasaan

 Menggunakan pola kalimat Simple Present Tense
Menggunakan kata kerja bentuk pertama ( Verb 1 ) .
Pola Kalimatnya :
(+) Subject + Verb1 ( kata Kerja) + (es/s) + Object / keterangan
( -) Subject + do/does + not + Verb 1 + Object/ keterangan
( ?) Do/ does + Subject + Verb 1 + Object/ keterangan
PENGGUNAAN DO / DOES sesuai subjectnya

SUBJECT DO/DOES
He, She, It, Tunggal DOES
They, we, I , you, Jamak DO

To be yang digunakan : is, are, am ( Sudah di bahas, di buka lagi
catatannya)

Contoh :
My sister puts some pictures on her desk.
They put some pictures on their desk.
My room has 1 bed
My sister is very pretty.

 Noun ( kata benda)

Kata benda yang digunakan merupakan kata benda specific. (khusus)
Contoh : my cat ( khusus, kucing saya)

my sister (khusus, saudara perempuan saya)
 Adjective ( kata sifat) : digunakan untuk memperjelas kata benda.

Contoh : the red book ( buku yang berwarna merah)
a beautiful flower ( bunga yang indah)

Example of Descriptive text

My Bedroom
Identification: My bedroom is my favorite room. My room is in second floor,
next to my big sister’s room.
Description : My room is painted light grey. There is a big bed inside my
room where I sleep every day. I put some pictures on my desk. There are my
family picture, my picture with my friends, and my picture with my pet,
Lola, a Persian cat. I also have drawer where I put all my clothes inside. My
room is not big, but it is the best place in my house for me .
