Splash Of Mylk is where we spotlight amazing women in their community. 

I am Kourtney Kelly and I am a young woman who has devoted my life to finding and exploring myself.
Currently I am an academic counselor/ Program Lead for a company called C2 Eduction. When I’m not at
work (or when I’m at work escaping work) I am working on my brand. #letshavegirltalk ! Girl Talk is a platform
for girls who inspire girls!

As a woman I am most proud of finding myself and learning to love myself whole heartedly at such a young
age. I’ve discovered some things about myself in 20 years that it takes some women a life time to figure out.
I am set apart from other women because I have truly mastered and believe that my life is all about
constantly improving and not impressing and it is always me vs me not me vs them. OK?!

Eight-year old Biracial, eight-year-old Jordan Rodgers dreamed to
entrepreneur lets one day go to Disneyland. When her mother, Erin
nothing or no one  Austin, lost her job, Jordan had to think of a
stop her different way to earn money in order to make her
dream come true. However, Jordan nor her mother
BAILEY HEBERT had anticipated what would come next.     

03 | COMMUNITY On Friday, June 22, 2018, Jordan Rodgers decided to
sell bottled waters in front of her apartment in San
Francisco, California to raise the money for her
trip. A few hours in, another tenant named Alison
Ettel claimed that Jordan was yelling too loud, and
disrupting the work she was attempting to
complete in her apartment. After bringing her
issues to the attention of the security guard at the
apartment building, Ettel took it a step further
when she confronted the child’s mother, Erin.

The subtle confrontation lead to Alison Ettel calling
the police on Jordan Rodgers for “not having a
permit”. All the while, Jordan’s mother, Erin, was
recording the entire situation which, as you can
imagine, ended up going viral on social media, and
receiving national news attention. Following all of
the scrutiny the story received, Alison Ettel gained
the social media hashtag name of #PermitPatty and
faced tremendous backlash in the forms of rude
comments (on social media sites), hateful emails,
and threatening text messages. Ettel accepted an
interview with NBC News, where she apologized,
and expressed how looking back at the situation,
she should have done things differently.

More importantly, however, Jordan Rodgers and her
mother gained immense support and positivity from
complete strangers all around the country – truly
uplifting the family. Jordan exemplified
#blackgirlmagic when she went out the very next day
to continue selling waters - not allowing any
negativity stop her from fulfilling her dreams. A
complete stranger ended up completely funding her
trip to Disneyland, but people still donated to the
eight-year-old to show their continued support. At
such a young age, Jordan was able to overcome
racism, financial struggles and fulfill a dream all
within a couple of days. If she’s not a Mocha Woman
in the making, I am not sure what is!

This past weekend my best friend and I decided to have lunch
in good ole Louisville , Kentucky . If you have been following
this new journey of mine you would know that I recently took a
trip to Atlanta, Georgia to visit and have lunch at Hattie Marie's
Bbq . Next thing you know my friend is calling me up to make
this thing happen again but in a different state. We both
decided that we wanted to try the Seafood Lady located in
Louisville, Kentucky. So we made plans, made arrangements
and headed there. Believe me it was not the easiest trip far as
getting there but it was well worth it. We endured a lot of lay
over flights which wasn't the worst thing but like I said it was
worth it and ill defiantly do it again.

I found myself craving Seafood Lady before even trying it
because the unique twist of seafood items I see on her
Instagram page. I personally first encountered Seafood Lady on
Facebook from watching a clip of Guy Fieri's show on Food
Network . The only thing I saw her make was the Lobster Waffle
and I was sold, that is honestly all I needed to see!

My friend and I had the idea to order a lot of
food, split it all, and take the rest home and
we did exactly that.  We ordered:

Lobster and Waffles – Was my absolute
favorite ! I have no clue if the waffle its self
was Cajun but it really have a unique Cajun
bite to the flavor . The lobster was fried to
perfection and still had the perfect amount
of tenderness and that thang was juicy! The
entrée also came with 6 jumbo fried shrimp
which was a plus because we wanted
shrimp ! The whole dish was a win win , 10
out of 10 type vibe!

Chee- Sea Fry- Has to be one of the cutest
names for “cheese fries” I ever saw.  The fries
were loaded with cheese, crab meet, and a
Cajun seasoning. I am not exactly sure what
kind of cheese it was but it was very
complementing. I really enjoyed this dish
because adding seafood to anything cheese
related can be a bit questionable if you ask
me but it tasted beyond better than I
expected. The thought of that gooey cheese
melting in my mouth is still giving me chills.

Crab Cakes- The crab cakes were good but
dont get me wrong they were not the best
I’ve ever had. My friend did not like them at
all but to me they were not that bad I guess I
would prefer it on a garden salad with a light
vinaigrette dressing to drown out some of
the herb taste I was receiving from the crab
cake.

Catfish- When it comes to the fish it really
depend on what you like. I personally like my
fish fried hard I am from the south so I dont
know if that has anything to do with it but
my friend agreed. The flavor was there but I
could barely tell because of the softness
from the fish which is not a problem some
people just like their fish cooked a certain
way and I am one of them. I am not apposed
to ordering the fish again , next time I will
just make a request to fry it longer.

With a grand total of $69.12, split down the
middle with my friend....I can't wait to visit
Kentucky again. You'll know where to find
me.

Before Is settling in 2018 still a thing? Of course it is!
"You Do" Why? Maybe because of fear, the lack of
something, loneliness, or flat out desperation.
Too many times we as women settle in
relationships, our jobs, and daily decisions. Most
of the time it is out of desperation or to please
others. Let me tell you, desperation is the worst
accessory to your wardrobe and not the
foundation you want to build your relationship
on. I dated my husband for 5 years prior to
marriage and we celebrated our third year being
married August 28th. Hallelujah! I wouldn't say 5
years of dating should be a staple, but I will say
to every single woman that the man you marry
(or don't marry) will be one of the most
important decisions in your life, so take it
seriously and take your time. Marriage is a
partnership and your life partner is meant to
add to your life and you add to his. Life in itself
is hard when you are single, so why marry
someone to only make life harder. Life has
brought my husband and I to a whole new
country. Living in Dubai we have learned to
depend on each other and I must say our dating
foundation created a bond that helps to keep
things in perspective.
I've seen so many "pre-martial checklists"
grading a potential husband but ultimately you
attract who you are. Yes ma'am! So we are going
to look within and start with self. I am so
passionate about this that I have come up with
this, if you will, checklist. I have created it in
the form of a questionnaire. I feel this makes it
more personal and will help diminish this
"settling" business. So get your favorite journal,
cup of tea, and light a candle! This is a great
opportunity for some self reflection. 

Inner Wholeness : Are you whole? Inner
wholeness doesn't mean perfection. It can be
defined as : full acceptance, knowing yourself, and
not denying any aspect of yourself. In mistakes, we
lovingly and efficiently self correct. Many say they
are looking for their husband that will make

are whole within yourself...you are authentic,
you hold an inner completeness, and you have a
sense of self worth. Furthermore authenticity
