Read the notes below and do the exercise – combine the sentences by
adding ‘but’.

menambah ‘tetapi’

Notes:
Conjunction – but

(Kata hububg – tetapi)
1. The conjunctions ‘but’ can be used to join two statements.

(Kata hubung 'tetapi' boleh digunakan untuk menggabungkan dua
pernyataan / ayat)
2. But: is used to connect statements that express opposite ideas.
(Tetapi: digunakan untuk menghubungkan pernyataan yang
menyatakan idea yang berlawanan.)
Example:
i) I have to rake leaves but I don’t have to shovel snow.
ii) They have to shovel the snow but they don’t have to rake leaves.
iii) He has to wash the car but he doesn’t have to rake leaves.
iv) She has to go shopping but she doesn’t have to cook.
