Baca nota dan selesaikan tugas di bawah.
NOTES: Present continuous
1. The present continuous or the present progressive tense is used to tell about whatever action is happening at the
time of speaking. (digunakan untuk menyatakan tentang perbuatan, tindakan dan aksi yang sedang berlaku dalam
waktu tertentu pada waktu sekarang). Any temporary action, and/or an incomplete action is expressed in the
present continuous tense. (Segala tindakan sementara, dan / atau tindakan yang tidak lengkap dinyatakan dalam
keadaan berterusan sekarang.)
2. The verb in the present continuous tense is made of two parts: (Terdiri daripada dua bahagian:)
a) The present tense form of verb ‘to be’ – is/am/are
b) ‘ing’ affixed to the base verb.
3. Present continuous affirmative/positive form:
- Formula: subject + present tense form of verb ‘to be’ + base verb+ing
Example: She (subject)+ is (present tense form of ‘to be’)+ sing (base-verb)+ing ==> She is singing.
Please note as shown above that you can contract the subject and verb if you want to: (Perhatikan seperti yang
ditunjukkan di atas bahawa anda boleh mengikat/gabung subjek dan kata kerja jika anda mahu)
I am = I'm he is = he's she is = she's it is = it's you are = you’re we are = we're they are = they're
Examples: (Contoh) ii. You are doing the dishes. / You're doing the dishes.
i. I am going to school. / I'm going to school.

4. Present continuous negative form:
- To make the tense negative add "not" before the verb + -ing. (tambah "not" sebelum kata kerja + -ing.)
- Formula: subject+ present tense form of verb ‘to be’ + not + base verb + ‘ing’
Example: She is not singing
Example:
i. I am not going to bed now.
ii. My friends are not telling me
everything.
iii. The children are no sleeping at this
time.
iv. They are not watching television.
You can also use contractions with
the negative form and use a short
form: (boleh menggunakan gabungan
dengan bentuk negative dan
singkatan).
Examples:
i. I'm not going to bed now. (NOT: I amn't going to bed)
ii. You’re not doing your homework now. / You aren’t doing your homework now.
iii. The mouse’s not eating the cheese. / The mouse isn’t eating the cheese.
iv. We’re not buying a new car. / We aren’t buying a new car.
