JOB DESCRIPTION – ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT
Supporting the provision of the highest standard of childcare service
Part time position: 2 days, 15 hours per week
30 days pa pro rata including 8 statutory holidays
Salary £20,000 pa
Probation period: 6 months
Notice period: one month

Requirements
AAT trained or similar
Conversant with XERO accounting software or similar.
Two satisfactory, relevant references.
This post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Scheme check at Enhanced level.

Skills
PC literate and fully conversant with MS office applications, excel, email and internet;
high level of numeracy skills, excellent literacy and customer service skills, effective time
management, team player, flexible, adaptable, organised, ability to multi-task and work well under
pressure, often juggling several tasks at once.

Duties
Responsible for maintaining company accounts and bookkeeping using XERO software. This will
involve all aspects, including entering and paying invoices by BACS, year end, reconciling bank
accounts, providing reports, dealing with suppliers and ad hoc queries and projects.

Upload sales information from Nursery Management System and reconcile payments made in cash,
cheques, BACS, credit and debit cards and bank transfers, identifying any anomalies or problems.

General office administrative duties, which include:
• Taking payments using the debit/credit card terminal
• Answer general telephone and email queries, internet use
• Type documents and letters, photocopying and filing.

Work as part of, and contribute positively to, the staff team

Attend occasional team meetings, company events, training courses, etc, sometimes out of your office
hours.

Comply with confidentiality of all information.

Comply with applicable Hopscotch Policies and Procedures.

Be flexible and be willing to undertake other reasonable office duties to support colleagues and/or
cover staff absences.

To work extra hours by mutual agreement.

Any other reasonable duties as deemed relevant.

ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT - PERSON SPECIFICATION
To provide two satisfactory, relevant references
To provide a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Scheme check at Enhanced level
To comply with the Immigration, Asylum & Nationality Act 2006
To be completely conversant with TAS accounting software
Educated to a high level, preferably degree level
Appropriate and relevant experience
PC literate and fully conversant with MS office applications, email and internet
Proven high level of numeracy skills
High level of literacy skills – understand, communicate, read and write effectively in standard
English to a high level
Good level of customer service skills including telephone manner
Excellent time management and organisational ability
Resourceful with problem solving skills
A willingness to learn and develop new processes
An ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
An ability to work on own initiative and make appropriate judgements
An ability to work as part of a team and contribute positively to the team
An ability to attend occasional team meetings, company events, training courses, etc, sometimes
out of hours
