Inter School Singing Competition

Dear Sir/Madam,
The year 2018 is very special for Crescent Model Higher Secondary School when we, the staff &
students celebrate and honour 50 glorious years of our existence in the field of Education. To
celebrate this very special occasion, Junior School Boys is conducting a singing competition at the
Inter-School level named, ‘The Voice’ on Saturday/November 17, 2018 at the College Auditorium.
The competition includes both Solo singing and Choir (group) singing.
Please find enclosed detailed information and plans for the celebration. We sincerely would like your
school to participate in order to make our Anniversary Celebration a grand success.

The competition comprises of two categories:
1. Thematic Songs: Choir Performance
2. Kalam-e-Shair: Solo Performance

Age Limit: (Each category has a separate age limit for students)

2. Choir (group) Performance 09 – 11 years

GENERAL RULES FOR THE COMPETITIONS
1. There is no entry fee for the competition.
2. Singing Competition will be held according to the age limits provided.
3. School can send a group consisting of not less than EIGHT and not more than TEN students
for group (choir) singing & only one student for solo singing excluding the musicians.
4. In the Group singing & Solo singing one student leading and followed by others in chorus is
not allowed.
5. Time Limit – 4 to 5 minutes.
6. Participating schools will have to bring their own musical instruments.
7. Only theme based songs in their respective languages (Urdu, English) will be allowed.
8. Students of the participating schools should be accompanied by a School representative.
9. School uniform is compulsory.
10. Participants should be present at least 01hr before the commencement of the program.
11. Entries should reach us, 15 days before the commencement of the competition i.e. November
3, 2018.
12. The decision of the judges will be final.
13. 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes will be awarded.
14. A Certificate will be awarded to all the participants.
15. The Host School [The Crescent-Junior School Boys] will not compete with the participating
schools.
16. Maximum 4 musical instruments are allowed.
17. Participants to report at Gate 4(College) by 9:00am.
18. Program will begin at 10:00am sharp.

GROUP SINGING
We tend to acknowledge the efforts of great song makers for children who have played in giving us

so many melodious and inspirational songs therefore the theme of the Group Singing
Competition is ‘Songs based on anyone of the themes’ given below:

- Dreams
- Kindness
- Love
- Harmony
- Motivation

Each group will be given maximum four minutes to perform live in English language.
Experts from the field of music will be invited to judge the competition on merit and their decision
will be final.
The competition will be assessed in the following five areas: (Total 50 marks)
1. Relevance with the theme :10 marks
2. Skill: 10 marks ( singing ability of the contestants)
3. Rhythm: 10 marks (contestants’ ability to remain in beat and rhythmic pattern)
4. Pronunciation:10 marks (lyrics are pronounced correctly)
5. Expression and overall performance: 10 marks (Rendering of songs with feelings/involvement,

confidence, body language and stage presence)

SOLO SINGING
Each participant will be given maximum four minutes to perform in Urdu language. The theme of the
Solo performance is Kalam of the following renowned poets.

1. Allama Mohammad Iqbal
2. Parvin Shakir
3. Ahmad Faraz
4. Anwar Maqsood
5. Faiz Ahmad Faiz

The details of the competition are enclosed for your perusal.
Please fill in the registration form attached before Tuesday November 16, 2018. Entries sent after the said
date will not be accepted. Any change in names of the participants should be intimated two days prior to the
competition to the concerned coordinator.
