OFFICIATING SPEECH BY DIRECTOR OF SABAH STATE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT YBrs. RAISIN BIN SAIDIN
ASSALAMUALAIKUM WARAHMATULLAHIWABARAKATUH, AND A VERY GOOD MORNING. Ladies and Gentlemen, It gives me great pleasure to be able to say a few words in conjunction with the launching of the online NUCLEAR SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY VIDEO COMPETITION. The importance of technology in education cannot be denied because it is helping students to turn their school life into a real preparatory stage for the future. The world, as we know it now, is not in the best of health. One of the most pressing matters that requires our immediate attention is climate change. We all have one way or another experienced the changes in weather patterns which has wreak havoc both on land and sea. The culmination of pollution and disregard of earth’s fragile environment has led to the deterioration of good health and wellbeing of many humans. The introduction of SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS 2030 by the United Nations is timely as it calls for the ending of poverty, protecting the earth’s environment and climate so that people everywhere can enjoy peace and prosperity. Therefore, it is a great honour for me to congratulate the collaboration between SMK SANZAC and the Education Department of Sabah for initiating and organizing the online NUCLEAR SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY VIDEO COMPETITION 2022 which aims to bring about an awareness and advantages of nuclear science and technology among students so that they can be responsible and accountable in ensuring the preservation and NOT the destruction of earth and mankind. Ladies and Gentlemen, In any organization, be it the school, office or society, the people behind the organization are the most important players in planning and executing an event. I would like to express my appreciation to the Sports, Co-curricular and Arts Division, Ministry of Education, Malaysia and Kota Kinabalu District Education Department, for their support and guidance in turning this programme into a reality.
I have no doubt that under the leadership of Mr. Ajmal Haji Jumah, the principal of SMK SANZAC, together with his team of hardworking senior assistants and dedicated teachers to ensure the smooth running of this competition. The proverb ‘many hands make light work’ comes to mind and for this, I am grateful to be associated with such a progressive likeminded people. Before I conclude, once again, I would like to congratulate and take this opportunity to thank the organizers, sponsorship from International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), participants from around the globe, and all parties who have work relentlessly in ensuring the success of this competition and I wish that the benefits fostered in this competition would not end here but will flourish into positive rewards in your respective schools. This collaborative effort, I must say, is very commendable and should be continued in future. Well done and CONGRATULATION to all participants. I wish you all the very best and I am looking forward to more collaborations from the schools around the world. On this note, it gives me great pleasure to officiate the online NUCLEAR SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY VIDEO COMPETITION 2022. YBrs. RAISIN BIN SAIDIN DIRECTOR OF SABAH STATE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT
