Tujuan ekspedisi: 1. Ia adalah satu daripada aktiviti-aktiviti KPL dalam menimbulkan minat mengembara, mengkaji alam seki tar dan menjayakan sesuatu projek dengan tersusun, berkesan dan akan memberi menafaat kepada semua. 2. Memupuk rasa tanggungjawab, toleransi dan kerjasama dalam menjayakan projek ini. 3. Memberi pengalaman serta pengatahuan baru sukaduka dalam menghasilkan atau menjayakan telah ditetapkan. GUNUNG LEDANG Laporan disediakan oleh Kumpulan KEJORA Ketua Hishamudin Ibrahim Dengan ketinggiannya 1268 meter, Gurung Led�ng 'merupakan gunung yang tertinggi di Negeri Johar. Ianya merupakan salah sebuah pusat pelancongan yang terkenal di negeri ini. Tempat ini sering menjadi tumpuan dengan adanya air terjun di Sagil. Pelancong-pelancong yang datang ke gunung ini hanyalah semata-mata untuk bersuka-ria sambil menikmati keindahannya tanpa menyelidiki bentuk-bentuk fizikal dan tanah-tanih yang terdapat dL kawasan ini. Sebenarnya Gurung Ledang ini terbahagi kepada 44 jenis kawasan fizikal yang berlainan. Pada ketinggian 50-400 meter, masih belum banyak perubahanperubahan yang dapat dilihat. Tanahnya berwarna hitam dan keras. Ditumbuhi dengan pokok-pokok yang besar, lurus dan tinggi. Dan perubahan suhu masih belum dapat dirasakan lagi. Kawasan ini juga tidak begitu curam. Pada peringkat adalah tanah merah kedua, ketinggian yang berpasih. Masih 49 400-700 m. tanahnya lagi ditumbuhi oleh

Sebelahpaginyakamibangundanmencaritambahanair. terpaksa turun sejauh kira-kira 2 km. Tetapi sebilangan peserta telah mendapatkan air dari bantuan Pusat Pemancar beberapa orang askar,/po1is hutan yang berada di kawasan berhampiran. Kami memasak untuk sarapan pagi' Seiepas itu berehat sebentar sehinggalah kira-kira jam 10 '00 Pa9i, memasak untuk makan tengahariJam 1 1.00 pagi, Kami mulai perjalanan turun dan dicadangkan melalui hutan turun sampai ke air terjun sagil. Kami menghadapi berbagai rintangan, turun dan mendaki menggunakan tali dan kadangkala berpaut pada akar-akar kayu. Kira-kira jam 6.00 petang kami semua tetah sampai di Air Terjun, tempat di mana telah ditetapkan. Tetapi kerana beberapa sebab kami pulang kira-kira jam 'i0.00 malam itu. Guru-guru yang terlambat turun juga sampai pada pagi keesokkan harinya. syukorlah semuanya telah selamat walaupun ramai yang terasa penatnya tetapi di hati tentunya berasa bangga kerana telah berjaya dalam ekspedisi ini. laman ar dirakamkan 1. Hutannya penuh dengan berbagai rahsia misteri. Kebanyakan tumbuhtumbuhan yang terdapat sukar dijumpai di kawasan sekitar tanah paya, padang kita. Semasa kami mulai mendaki, kami dapati rumput-rampai, paku pakis dan pokok-pokok yang sederhana tingginya di kiri dan kanan ja]an. Ada terdapat pokok-pokok berbunga seperti bunga senduduk, anggerik dan lain-lain 1a9i. Bunga-bunga yang menarik juga bentuknya agak aneh jarang kelihatan di tempat biasa. THE MUSINGS OF A WISMA PUTERA CHILD (By: Omar Ittustapha) We all reach cr:ossroads at various times in our iives, turning points which steer. us into a different direction and alter our future infinitely. It having reached one such point, am now prone to sudden attacks of day-dreaming and musing mainly centred on my kaleidoscopic past and hopefully rosy future. I am a Wisma Putera child. Being one, I was sentenced to a life of trial-s and tribulationsl yet I had my fair share of fun and adventure too. Now that I have flown out of the parental- nest and into the wide open world alone, I shall miss many of the episodes I have grown so fond of. 1 shall miss going to a new house, and learning bits and pieces of a new language. I shall miss calling the new place my home and the pleasant ritual of getting to know new neighbours. I enjoyed travelling to exoti-c new places. It provided me the exposure to people and their customs which I would otherwise never have experienced. Their different beliefs, traditions and customs are all so very important to me because they add to my own beliefs, traditions and customs. They form the flesh that shapes the skefeton of thought already existing within me. I remember Rome (Dad's first overseas assignment) as a small pleasant city, very different from the Malaysia I had f j-rst lef t. I spoke only baby lr,lalay then and it was in Rome that l first learned English. It was afso here that I ]earned to speak lta1ian, swim and mix spaghetti, all of which I did not do so well. I remember walking merrily down from our apartment into the main street wearing only my bathing suit ( f was five years o1d thenl ) with my younger brother tagging faithfully behind clad in more or l-ess the same thing. (Actually, Osman was in his birthday suit and I still remember the look on our neighbours' faces I ) Islamabad, in Pakistan, was something else. We lived in a huge single-storeyed bungalow at the other side of the city. Our neighbours initially were aloof. It took time for the Pakistanis to warm up to foreigners. When they finally did, we had difficulty preserving our privacy. I almost broke into tears when we first arrived in Islamabad. It was my fault because I had expected the whole world.to l-ook like Rome. When it was not, the reality almost left me heart-broken. To make matters worse, when we landed. the o1d airport smelled of urine and this was certainly not a good introduction to any place. But s1ow1y I began to fall in fove wi-th Islamabad. The thriving civilisation' that existed along the banks of her rivers and valleys inspired me to appreciate that beautiful country and its people. My mother had different thoughts about it right from the moment we arrived. To her, Pakistan was the 'Mecca of antiques'and she was there to take full advantage of it. After four years of my dear mother's bargaining and buying, we ended up with seventeen crate-l-oads of her prized colfection. of this longing will noL be for long. Malaysia is what I consider my real home and for a person who is perpetually on the move, it is an i-mportant place to have. You get a little sense of alienation living in one foreign country after another. It feels good to be back with your aunts and uncles and the old woman across the road who helped nurse you when you were two and the people who knew your parents before they were married and so on. They form the infrastructure of my life and give me a sense of identity based on descent, handed-down traditions and family roots. There are also less ideological reasons why I keep longing to be back. I miss the authentic mee rebus, nasi lemak, durian, cendol and beriani rice ever so abundant in my homeland. I miss the incessant drone and occassional shrill exclamations that occur whenever my mother and her sisters meet, and 1 miss the exquisite sensations of 'Rayaing' in the kampung and eating real home-made Malaysian kuih six or seven times in a day. I owe my parents a debt of thanks for bringing me into this world, but they are also the cause of my so far nomadic life. And for this I owe them even more thanks. 1 must admit I enjoy being a'mission'child, because for each headache and lack of sleep due to jet leg, there were adventure, excitement and challenge. I was pushed to become the best I could be and to try new things and experience new experiences. I would not have been challenged as thoroughly had I stayed in one place. I learned to communicate effectively with peers, to skate on ice, to speak French and English, to have run an annuaL charity bazaar and to master the Warsaw public transport system to get to school. They are all very dear to n€, but also mingled with those memories are new images of graduating from university, getting a job in Malaysia and finally fixing my roots. It wilI be my coming home time, time to use all the knowledge my life has given me.and to discover new things not from people in different lands, but from my own countrymen. A MEMORY I looked at my wristwatch and it showed me that it was four o'clock in the evening. It was bright as I stood there watching the calm sea, with some waves dancing over it. The coconut leaves were swaying back and forth as the wind blew. The waves came splashing onto the shore forming a silvery border. I stood there as I had stood so many times before on the balcony of my grandmother's beach house which was situated at one of the wide golden beaches. But then, there had always been grandma standing beside me. Now she was gone. I used to come here spending my holidays with her. As I was studying in a boarding school, I could only come here during the long holidays. I was her favourite among all her grandchildren. She used to bake cakes and tarts for me during my stay in her house. That was the , reason for my increase in weight when I went back to school. She was someone I could always talk to. I was never sad in her company. Actually there was no reason to be sad when she was around. Even if I were, she could do something to change my mood. She was a generous person. Sometimes she would give me money to buy dresses. The way she treated me helped me to grow up fast. She always made another person feel at home in her company. Besides that, she was a hardworking person. Every morning after breakfast she would sweep the compound to clear the dead leaves which had fallen from the trees around.
