Persistence + Datafox = S uccess
Written by Regie Belarmino
It was three years ago when I joined the DataFox Upworker family. My eldest daughter just turned 7 at the time. She is
homeschooled as we felt as a family that we can do a better job of educating our child. Our daughter was highly uncoordinated
and needs a lot of improvement in her motor skills. Fencing was a sport we stumbled into as we were looking for a PE class for
her to attend.
Her coach encouraged her to compete at 8 yrs old. She won bronze on her first competition. On her second stint, she didn’t
make it and got eliminated. She cried for a week and begged us if she could have more training. Our heart broke as we knew
how bad failure can be and how it can make or break someone. To experience failure firsthand in front of a crowd and at such
a young age was also something parents would dread for their child.
We agreed to her request and her coach was kind enough to give her the gift of his time and energy. She was uncoordinated
but patiently did what she was told. So many mistakes, so much sweat and tears.
A few months after her defeat, she began to seriously compete. She won tournament after tournament. Her dedication,
persistence, and willpower opened up new doors for her. We could never have been more proud.
What does this have to do with DataFox? Because of the nature of work, I was able to support my daughter in her activities and
provide for her needs and that of my family. I learned through my daughter the value of persistence, humility, and compassion.
No matter how much success she has gained, she has remained the same kind and humble child.
My daughter’s experience is what I use to deal with my colleagues each and every day. I have the most excellent “coaches”
(mentors) in DataFox. I fail more than I can count but I don’t let that get me down. I learned in our company the value of
empathy, teamwork, and focus. I take the lessons of failure and use them to strive for success.
I share my knowledge and blessings to my peers with the hope that they can make something useful out of what I shared. I
don’t hold back on mentoring as this is what others have done for me as well. I realized that by being honest and kind, you can
open new paths to success. Their success is my success. Positivity leads to more positivity. Negativity leads nowhere.
I thank DataFox for the opportunity to work with the most wonderful group of people one can ever have. I understand that the
experience in working with each other may vary from person to person. It all boils down to positivity and empathy.
My family time is what I value the most and I treat my peers as part of my family. DataFox acknowledges what is important to
each and every person in the teams. The company has helped me and my family in more ways than I can think of. I found my
“happy” place, an extended family, and a place to learn new and exciting things.
Success is not just measured by monetary value. It is the sum of all the satisfaction you get from doing a job well done.
an uncoordinated child can stab her way to success, just imagine what adults armed with persistence can do?
