Dear Friends,
Junior Achievement welcomes you to the 18th Annual Indy’s Best & Brightest
Awards Program! We have the distinct pleasure of honoring 100 of our city’s
thought leaders and changemakers. The men and women honored this year are
being recognized for not only their professional accomplishments, character, and
leadership qualities, but for the impact they have on our community. These
honorees are making a difference every day in our city, helping to build a better
world.
At Junior Achievement, we empower young people to own their future success
through experiential programs that foster career exploration, work readiness,
entrepreneurship, and financial literacy. JA programs and volunteer mentors
impact nearly 40,000 students annually and inspire young people to believe in
their potential and pursue their dreams for the future. This is not possible without
the support and dedication of our volunteers, sponsors and JA friends and family.
We are grateful for all of you.
Thank you for inspiring today’s young people to pursue their own paths to
success, and to build a better world for all of us. And thank you for allowing us to
celebrate you during this special moment in history.

Eric Sutphin, KPMG
Indianapolis Managing Partner
Lifelong learning is an incredible journey where knowledge and skills make all the difference in an
individual’s growth and success. KPMG is deeply committed to lifelong learning and working with
organizations, like Junior Achievement, to enable equitable access to learning opportunities that
nurture talent and transform lives.
Literacy must begin early in life. Students who cannot read at grade level by the fourth grade are
less likely to have future success and more likely to drop out of school. And, every year, over 1.2
million students drop out of high school in our country, according to the U.S.Department of
Education.
These facts and our commitment to lifelong learning drive us to develop and
collaborate on innovative, high-impact programs and initiatives in our communities, for better. Our
collaboration with Junior Achievement and our flagship Community Impact program, KPMG’s
Family for Literacy, focused on eradicating childhood illiteracy by putting books into the hands of
children who need them most, are two great examples.
A critical component in supporting education and developing a diverse talent pool is our relation-
ship with Junior Achievement. We engage with Junior Achievement to prepare and inspire young
people to succeed in today’s world across career exploration, life skills, entrepreneurship, financial
literacy, and philanthropy. We collaborated to create JA Finance Park Advanced ® , a program
designed to help high school students better understand how to manage money by letting them
select simulated life scenarios and challenging them to successfully manage their finances.
We take great pride in our partnership with Junior Achievement that includes the many KPMG
professionals who volunteer to serve Junior Achievement in cities across the country and serve
on Junior Achievement boards, including our own Mark Shaffer, who is a Junior Achievement of
Central Indiana Board and Executive Committee member. And we are honored to have recently
received our eighth consecutive Gold U.S. President’s Volunteer Service Award for providing over
6,000 volunteer hours annually to Junior Achievement USA.
We look forward to continuing to empower young people through lifelong learning!
